This is not worth the wait or calories that will be consumed. One worded descriptions: The food- DISGUSTING Their favorite color of every dish- BROWN Service- RUDE More in-depth description: I hate wasting food but I couldn't finish even half of every plate I got. They start you off with bread on the table that looks fake. It's as hard as a brick and the inside of it was dense. The "paella" looked like leftovers, filled with chicken bones, seafood shells and rice. I wouldn't even call it paella but instead "flavored rice" I got the "pollo asada" but it was obviously not grilled. Thy tried covering it with some brown sauce. It was dry and tasteless. It came with potato wedges/French fries that were burnt to hell and tasted terrible (I love potatoes and fries but I couldn't do it) For dessert I got Flan... it wasn't smooth. It might as well have been a wet cake that tasted like there was something burning in the oven. Best part of the meal: Coca Cola and the whipped cream from the dessert (aka nothing made in the restaurant) This restaurant goes for quantity over quality. They try to serve many people but give crappy food. Their main revenue is from the tourist packages people buy.

We walked in and saw four construction workers eating lunch over a bottle of wine. That's a good enough indication to me - if the locals are eating there, it's not a tourist trap. The restaurant had a nice cozy feel to it, with low, roughly hewn beamed ceilings, warm lighting, and the painted walls were covered with photographs from well wishers about how much they loved their experiences at the attached hostel. The menu del dia was a definite draw for us, as we were famished after walking around the city all day. The English language menu was also greatly appreciated. I ordered the sopa castellana, which was basically a garlic bread soup. Delicious, and it set me up for my main course, which was a whole boiled ham hock with mashed potatoes and gravy! Yes! My wife ordered the lentil chorizo soup, which she liked, but she said it wasn't as good as my soup. (I'm allergic to many lentils, so I can't say how it was.) She ordered the beef, which also came with a nice gravy on it. She enjoyed it very much. We also got a bottle of wine, which was included in the price. I think each meal was 12 Euros, which is a real bargain! And the service was incredibly friendly and prompt, to boot. Even though were were "just" tourists, I felt like they really valued our business. And even better, when we left, the host with the beer belly even gave me a pat on the back, saying "Hasta luego, mi amigo." Awesome. If we are ever in Toledo again, we'll come back to this restaurant!

Anyway, almost all local customers sat outside under shady trees and seating was on seen also across the street. Service was good especially since we cannot speak much Spanish. Food and beer was great! We also had dessert and espresso. Only issue i have with this place was the fact that many flys buzzing around inside the restaurant around our table.

It was a weekday lunch and we wanted to get away from the main square where all the tourists seemed to congregate. We waited until lunch was served around 1pm and got a nice cozy table in the corner where we could see the kitchen. We were the only diners in the restaurant but the bar up front was pretty busy and festive. We guessed locals probably don't spend this much on lunch but rather go for the tapas and drinks instead up front. We started with the warm leek and scallop cream soup and a roasted pepper salad. The cream soup came in a teapot and was poured over a beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly scallop and shrimp. I managed to get most of the soup with my spoon otherwise I was ready to lick it up even though we were in public. I don't have anything to compare the cochinillo (suckling pig) to but it was on my list of foods I had to try in Spain. The skin was nice and crunchy while the meat was more fatty than I'd normally like. My wife had the partridge and thought it was pretty good. We got to enjoy a nice quiet lunch to ourselves and overall were happy with the food and service.
