$15 per foot is robbery anyway you want to look at it
    Nev B.

$650 for a bottom job on a 32 ft motorboat is out of this world ridiculous! I asked everyone I know on my marina if they ever heard of such a over the top pricing. They all said I got taken advantage of or extorted. I call Matt and told him my normal guy was out of town and I needed my zincs replaced aswell as a bottom cleaning. He said he was a week out so I was waiting a week to get a quote, but instead he just went on and did the work. I saw that there were 2 divers cleaning my boat which is why he must have charged me so much. I never heard of 2 divers for a 32 ft boat. I then get an invoice for $647. I'll attach a photo off my invoice to show I'm not lying. I've been through 7 or 8 different divers and diving companies in the 5 years I've owned my boat and never have I spent that much on a bottom job. The average I spend is $200 and most (before this bottom job) was $250. I contacted Matt to see if there was a mistake and caught him in a few lies. First he said they charged a lot because my bottom was "EXTREMELY FILTHY" which is B.S because the algae bloom that was affecting our estuary was pretty much killing off any major growth. He then said that my bottom hasn't been cleaned in over 2 years which the second lie because the last time I got my hull serviced was 5 months ago. The longest I've gone without my hull serviced was 9 months and I paid $250 for that. When i told him I had my hull serviced 5 months ago and it shouldnt have been that dirty, he then began to call me a liar (which is why I'm giving him 1 star instead of 2) or my normal diver was lying to me. I trust my normal diver. Hes my neighbor and I know him and his family. I dont know Matt. Nor was Matt even there to see my bottom, he was just the guy who answered the phone and sent out 2 divers, how does he know they weren't lying. Third lie I caught him in was he said his "diver" (singular) took 3 hours to clean the bottom when it normally takes 1 hour to clean. But there wasn't just 1 diver, there was 2 divers (plural). How does it take 2 divers 3 hours to clean a 32 foot boat of just 5 months of growth during the high algae bloom that's killing off a lot of growth?!? He also went on to say that my "expectation were unrealistic" because I thought that paying 3 times the amount for what it normally cost was unreasonable. I could have had my boat hauled out for that price! He then went on to say that "we are a professional cleaning service, we are not cheap" what does that even mean? Because he answers the phone like a middle man, sends other divers out that aren't him and he has 2 guys to do the work of one guy and tells his customers that the work took 3 times longer than normal and has a business card that he can charge more than other divers. Ive gone through other divers with business card, and invoices too. What makes these "fast bottom" guys think they, can charge 3 times the amount?! I've never heard of charging $15 per foot, ever! I'm still confused. Is he charging by foot or charging by the hour? Because I have a invoice being charged by the foot, but he complained about how long it took. So he literally (without even being there himself to look at my boat and take the word of his other divers) just decides to charge me whatever price he wanted. Dont waste your time here. I can recomend other divers with honest and fair prices. Go try Brandon Kindt, Hull cleaner (925)325-2052. I recently bought a second boat for sailing and the seller of the boat used him for that. Cost him $250 and he told me he didnt clean the bottom in over a year. Before I agree to buy the boat, I told him to get the bottom cleaned. He called Brandon Kindt and he came out the next day, no problem. Never ever EVER will I use fast bottom and will spread the word of how they take advantage of people. They really should have told me that's what they were gonna charge me before they moved forward. That's just insane.

There are better and more reliable divers in the bay area. I used Matt once and learned my lesson.
