Let's not get reckless. Nobody is confusing this place with the Disney World of gas stations. But Busy Bee absolutely wants you to know it studied the Buc-ee's playbook in great detail and copied enough homework to pass the class. And honestly? Respect. After hours on the road, I pulled in needing gas, caffeine, food, a restroom, and probably some emotional reassurance from the highway gods. Busy Bee delivered on most of it. First off, the bathrooms were clean. Not "gas station clean." Actually clean. That alone immediately moves a roadside stop up at least one full star in America's travel grading system. Then came the snack exploration phase. They had homemade jerky, specialty snacks, random road trip impulse purchases, and enough "well I wasn't planning to buy this but here we are" items to keep me wandering around longer than intended. It's the kind of place where you walk in for a drink and somehow leave holding candied pecans, smoked sausage, and a giant bag of pork rinds you'll later regret in silence. The overall vibe was solid too. Convenient. Clean. Easy stop. Good energy from the place itself. The employees though? Let's just say the staff had the collective facial expression of people who may have originally applied at Buc-ee's and ended up here after the universe made other plans. Nobody was rude. But there was definitely an emotional support shift happening behind the counter. Still, for a highway stop, Busy Bee absolutely gets the job done. It's a good place to refuel both your gas tank and your stomach before heading back into the chaos of interstate survival. This is probably a true three-and-a-half star stop if we're getting technical about it. But Yelp refuses to acknowledge the beauty of nuance, and I'm feeling generous today. So four stars it is for the little roadside gas station that looked at Buc-ee's empire and said, we can absolutely make a run at this thing.

I'm not sure if Yelp has the address right, so I included a pic of their business card. If any of my adventurous Jacksonville Yeeps out there are up for a restaurant roadtrip, then Lacy's is my first 2020 recommendation. It's literally the only business...not just restaurant, gas, station, or store....the only establishment of any kind for miles and miles and miles. I travel to Georgia to visit family during the holidays, and this last time, I took the back roads to avoid all the traffic. I stumbled upon Lacy's while I was frantically searching for a restroom and a place to stock up on snacks. The Ins and Outs: The exterior gives the impression of your everyday run of the mill corner store/gas station that's been there for decades. But as I walked in I immediately stopped in my tracks and all my senses went on high alert. Directly in front of me were 2 menu boards, pictures of food offerings, an ice cream counter, and the glorious sounds and smells of eats being freshly prepared in the kitchen. To the right was the convenience store, to the left was the dining room. My jaw dropped because there was NO signage or any indication outside that this was also a restaurant. Immediately I turned my focus back to the menu. The Noms: There are both breakfast and lunch/dinner offerings, but the kind lady (owner?) informed me that both menus are served from opening to closing (YAY!). While there were many things that looked both tasty and tempting, I decided to start the new year off with a bang and order the Heart Attack Burger, which comes topped with cheddar, swiss, fried egg, bacon, grilled onions, and mushrooms on homemade garlic bread. YUP...this ain't no "New Years Resolution Diet" joint, Yeeps. I opted for no mushrooms, though, since I've never been into those. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about a burger, but let me tell you, this was a BURGER. It was hearty, juicy, meaty, cheesy and kicked up even further by the egg, bacon, and onions. And the garlic bread? Hell YES. Every bite was savored and there's one thing for sure...I am COMING BACK for this burger. And So: There's also a Barbeque menu only served on Saturdays (see pics), which I'm also excited to try. They're open 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm, but the grill closes at 7pm. There's fountain drinks available, but I opted for a nostalgic bottle of cold Frostie Root Beer that day. The good sized dining room is full of eye-catching nostalgia, such as the vintage soda machines, and historic photos along the wall of Moniac. GO HERE....EAT HERE. Lacy's Kountry Store was an amazing find, and the perfect start to the new year for me! Till next time, my fellow Yeeps...SUPPORT your local eats and businesses and as always....SYOY!

At a glance, it seems like it would be a pain to get in and out of, but it's not, and honestly, I think it is easy...for me, it's a straight shot in and out on Malaga St. King St is a different story, but generally, folks are nice and let you go in and out just fine. Plus, this station partakes in a variety of rewards programs other than Shell Rewards. Not to mention it is normally slightly cheaper than other nearby Shell stations...Woot! Of course, there is the typical convenience store on the inside for quick bites, snacks, drinks, etc. The staff is always friendly too! *There is a separate pizza place attached to the station just in case you need to fill your tummy and don't want to stop again.

DO NOT BUY ANY VAPE PRODUCTS HERE!…read more Look at my attached photos- they legitimately sell counterfeit vape products. Their info has now been sent to the company that they're counterfeiting and supposedly they will be checked up on/reported to the appropriate authorities. Now that this review has been posted informing them of the state of their products/merchandise, they can no longer claim ignorance/that they didn't know that the products are counterfeit. Counterfeit vape products routinely use harsh and legitimately toxic metals/chemicals in them to bring down the cost of making them- they don't use high quality and regulated ingredients/additives as authentic vape companies do. When you buy counterfeit items, you aren't just supporting the trashy counterfeit market.. you're also putting your health at risk far more than you would had you purchased authentic product.
