This just opened in my 'hood! YAY!…read more It took over the historical corner space formerly occupied by Noah's Ark (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/noahs-ark-toronto). It's one of the oldest pubs in the city! But now it's VINTAGE DEPOT. I was surprised with the great organization and selection at this store. I don't think I've been to either of the other Vintage Depot locations in the city but I hope they're as awesome as this one. Clothes are organized into categories/sections and then by SIZE and COLOUR. I've never seen a thrift store that does this. Bravo! TONS of shoes, including designer. TONS of vintage Adidas and other sportswear. TONS of purses, hats (new and used) and uniforms (military, factory, coveralls and professional onesies of all kinds). This would be a fabulous place to source costumes for Halloween, costume parties or theatre/film productions. Staff seemed to be mostly young and male, all were extremely helpful and friendly.

The items are priced on the high side but the condition and selection of pieces make the cost some what forgive able if you are on the search for something to invest in. This place doesn't seem to come with the usual scent of a used item store, say like Public Butter further down on queen. I purchased a wonderful, vintage black equestrian helmet. Such a great find!

Opening my horizons recently to vintage stores, I was surprised to find such a modern store with an extremely helpful employee :) On the plus there was no "used" stench in store. The stores selection of goods was impressive in the fact that all the pieces were unique and affordable (either used or the few new pieces). Unlike Geraldine's experience I found the prices to be on the reasonable side. I purchased a vintage silk dress for $19 that looks exactly like a Hermes scarf pattern. Awesome! P.s. Talk about helpful staff, the dress I bought had 12 buttons running down the back. Unfortunately, one button as missing. The sales lady not only helped me look through a button box she had at the store, but after a failed attempt she recommended me to a store about a block down the street. I went to the store and another helpful employee helped me find the EXACT button for only $0.65! Can't wait to go back when more stuff is in!!

But this recent visit might have changed my mind. When I needed last-minute accessories for a costume in spring, it never crossed my mind to check out Value Village--until my partner suggested it. Turns out, there were some real finds! I needed a beret and suspenders and ended up choosing a 100% wool hat and it was made in Germany and priced cheaper than a brand new costume beret, along with suspenders featuring buckles made in England and the stretchy band made in the US, all together for under $12 including tax for both items. Sounds like a great deal to me. Older items these days are much better quality and it's much more sustainable since these items are mostly likely gonna be used once. Don't overlook Value Village!

Right off the bat, the store was incredibly big. There's a wide selection of items, such as sunglasses, clothing, bikinis, books, magazines, jewelry, shoes, trinkets, and so much more! The offerings they had were unbelievable. There's only issue I found was that there weren't many sizes left that fit me, but it's expected. The workers were very kind, and asked if we needed any help and guidance for finding specific pieces and sizes. The prices were pretty average, some pieces were definitely on the higher end, but that's due to higher quality and value. Majority of pieces were at good price points, great for a shopping spree. They had this really cute TV screen photo op area, so of course we snagged a few pictures. Definitely suits the vintage vibe!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Mark there when I spotted a cool face mask for my daughter who is a massive Beatles fan. He even had them in two sizes for $15, great price for a one-off fashion item that you won't find anyone else wearing. What Mark does is to peruse the vintage stores and flea markets for legacy concert and pop and rock music-related t-shirts and hoodies, and re-purpose them into new items to wear. Men's t's are sculpted down to fit women, with fashion details added to give some extra bling. Or distressing and dye and bleach is added to previously plain cotton fabric, alongside the graphics to create a cool new look. He also does custom work, so if you know someone who is a fan of a certain artist or group, you can commission Mark to make something unique and to your taste. Go nuts! You can call ahead to peruse their items already hanging on the racks. They will wait outside giving you room to check out the shop on your own even : ) Also check out Christa's items at Upside Apparel, very cool too!
