Spacious, well-organized vintage shop that carries loads of mens and womens fashion, as well as home decor items. They also have a small selection of new clothing for sale on the front racks. I love that you can browse by colour and staff are knowledgable too. Most recently, they have a couple shelves of vintage Coach leather bags for $90-120 range. Coach has just release their new 'heritage' line for fall, which is basically a bunch of their original designs. But why buy them at the store when you can get actual vintage ones? They also carry an impressive selection of cashmere sweaters for fall, all for $40. Although there were some great quality sweaters, there were also some that were pilling, so examine each garment carefully. As with any second hand store, it's a bit hit or miss here, but it's fun to browse and you never know what you'll find! read more

As I was doing very systematic recon of Kensington Market this rainy Sunday afternoon I walked into Bungalow and didn't even realize they had anything used/vintage the place is SO shiny, well organized, and clean! It only occurred to me when I checked the price of a leather jacket which was SO inexpensive that the truth began to unfold. And unfold it did! :) Bungalow has a huge selection of new, very inexpensive tees (think, American Apparel) and shirts, and some other new clothes for men and women, and a very exceptionally laid out selection of jeans, leather jackets, some other misc. clothes, and used furniture. The downstairs is all furniture which I didn't check out, but based on the really nice teak dining sets on the ground level i saw the prices and selection are REALLY good on the furniture! The owners Paul and Jessica have created the nicest op shop I have ever seen, though some might complain that the place is devoid of funkiness. I'd put it more in the category of retro 50s suburban kitsch from a style standpoint. The woman who answered my questions while I was there, Julie, was appropriately-to-my-metaphor, outfitted in a very glamorous platinum blond retro film queen look. She was also delightfully friendly and helpful and represented the store well. I came away with a huge WIN - a pair of vintage G-Star jeans (my FAVES), that fit me perfectly, for $40 ($40!!!!), and a really great graphic tee. Cool shop that's actually pretty big out in Kensington area. They carry a lot of obey and Hershel. A lot of used cool graphic ts in stock just like the neighboring businesses around the area. They had some cool basement filled with mid century / vintage furniture to browse around.prices were decent and they were running a sale when we went in but didn't leave with anything this tile! read more

Bungalow - Used, Vintage & Consignment Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Years ago, an Ex got me into the whole vintage clothing shopping trend. I had been previously against it because obviously, I had been some sort of snob. o_O! Anyway, so from time to time I will go and check a bunch of stores on Kensington and walk out with say, a cashmere peacoat for $40! WTF?! Had I gone to a regular store it would have cost somewhere in the $600+ range. Also got some sport jackets for $15-25 which if I bought at the Mexx or another store that you know, has not gone out of business in Canada, it would have been $250+. I have also found great Italian brands for $20 dollars. You truly can find some great, great finds here. An although perhaps one can find some good and inexpensive finds at Bungalow, usually, you will not. Since Bungalow tries to pass itself as a type of "high-end consignment store." So, let's call it an "ironic" second-hand store. Since all consignment stores may have both cheap and designer second-hand items for sale. The only difference here is that Bungalow charges you more for 2nd hand clothing because they think you will not able to tell the difference. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about the service, or the store, which is very clean... it is just that they charge you more for everything. I have seen 2nd hand everyday wear from everyday brands, something akin to the Gap or H&M priced at almost 3/4 of new. Like, come on. Seriously? For that price, I will just go buy the stuff brand new without having to search for correct size. I have also seen brand stuff being overly priced while literally coming apart at the seams. Which seems either somewhat dishonest or not very professional. At some of the other places in Kensington, you might let things like that slide because they are not as pricey and do not try to pass themselves as an uber consignment store. So, in this case, it works against them. Still, check them out from to time to time, you never know. I just don't expect much aside perhaps getting nicked by their prices. The best way to describe this place would be this: if you could magically turn a Hipster into a clothing store, the end result would be Bungalow. read more

i probably should be browsing to the tunes of cat stevens or maybe even the beach boys. im still not sure. what i can be sure of is that bungalow feels like there should be people with tinted glasses and fat moustaches or an arm full of bangles walking around helping you to find stuff. i feel like i should be five years old and walking downstairs quietly to get a peak or some mutterings of whats going on downstairs with the adults. maybe its the captain and tenille im hoping to hear. ya. thats it. even if youre outside staring at the place youll feel drawn back to that period, the seventies, where bricks were long wide slabs stretching to each corner of the fireplace or house like a pair of bell bottoms. indeed it seems to be the focus here from the furniture to the clothes to the sunglasses. now, its not strict to the decade; you can easily place some of the aforementioned shades on some preposterous hairstyle in the eighties. a lot of their shirts are BURSTING with colour and patterns and overall everything i laid eyes on seemed to be of good quality and good shape, for a vintage shop. there prices are moderate - thirty bucks for a long sleeve collared shirt for example. they seem to have taken the time to really design their space from top to bottom with their chosen vibe. the ceiling tiles, which for the most part are those cheap corky ones that sit on cheap white framing, you know the kind, have had each alternate row supplanted with wooden paneling that SCREAMS seventies. on each panel is a globe light helping to guide your mildly psychedelic experience. at the front are their new lines of clothes that seem to fit in very easily with the rest of the shop. though their prices are a bit higher for a vintage shop, you can rest assured that both the quality you will encounter and the boldness of style you have from which to choose will please you. read more

You can find some great pieces from high quality labels in the second hand section at the back, and for very good prices. All of the clothes are in very good condition, they seem to have tighter standards for what they resell than other second hand places. I've found some beautiful pieces here some days. It's hit or miss, but definitely worth giving a try. The rest of the store (non-second hand) is very pricey and not always great quality. So I would head straight to the back of the store if I were you! read more

Bungalow West extends the clean lines and well curated selection of vintage and new clothing with s limited selection of new shoes. I have heard that they will be extending the shoe line in the coming seasons to offer an even better selection. Well worth the visit. read more

As far as I can tell the main difference between this space and the one across the street is there's no furniture here and there are shoes for sale here. Otherwise, it's the same quality vintage stuff. read more
