The sculpture entitled The Farmer sits in ArtsPark that is located behind the Indianapolis Art Center. It is tucked away in the woods right in front of one of the most popular pieces in the park, Twisted House. The Farmer has seen better days. It is pretty worn. It was created in 2008 by Matt Crane. The piece just sits in the woods.
The sculpture stands about 6 feet and is made of two halves of iron put together to form what appears to be a man. You can see where the pieces seams are broken. I am not sure if it was intentional or not. As you know, iron is very corrosive and so the sculpture is very rusted. It is almost hard to make out what it is.
Fortunately, this piece is part of a larger collection of pieces at the ArtsPark and in addition to seeing this piece. You can see other pieces as well to maximize your visit. And to top it all off. it is all free. read more
