Just not very good in my opinion. Everything just looked very old in the cases. We got two sandwiches and they were just okay. Absolutely not worth $12 at all. We watched the guy microwaved our Cuban to melt the cheese which is a little sad. I rarely went here in highschool and it wasn't amazing then but it's absolutely worse now. I ordered a cut up fruit platter to be delivered. The gentleman at the register who took my order was so pleasant & helpful. I needed next day delivery within a couple of hours time frame and he was able to do this. I'm sure more notice is appreciated though. Seemingly good products but the apathy demonstrated by the staff is unacceptable, even by Long Island standards. A 30+ minute wait for some cold cuts when they have 5 "workers" behind the counter is insane. I'd describe it as baffling, but the reason for the wait is quite apparent: they simply don't give a shit. In our time on the line, the phone rang unanswered at least 20 times, one lady (Joni) spent a solid 20 minutes kibitzing with some regulars, even abandoning the line to go BS with them. Calling in your order ahead obviously isn't the solution. One guy was chopping tomatoes while the line was wrapped around the store. Then when we get the food, the lid on the macaroni salad isn't even closed properly. Wasted time of our lives that we will never get back. I guess the customers around here are willing to put up this "service" and disrespect. I'm not. read more

Gave this place a second shot and both times came away underwhelmed. Both times I ordered a hero and can simply say that while they were decent sandwiches, I have been to 50+ delis that were better. The first time I asked for Russian dressing only to get a strip of ketchup on one side of the bread, a strip of mayonnaise on the other. If you don't have it, just say so! The second time my hot roast beef was nuked beyond recognition to some sort of post-apocalyptic grey. Only the toasted garlic bread hero salvaged the meal. They have a solid neighborhood following, and I'm sure given a few more shots I'll find something to my satisfaction, but at $10+ per sandwich I'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Got some sandwiches from here and they were good. Fresh roast beef and cheeses (swiss on one, cheddar on the other). Breads also fresh. Service was great and parking convenient. I understand ownership changed recently, this has been a staple of Oceanside for decades, and as a kid I would get $1 sandwiches there. While those days are long gone, the food today was good and I would return for sure. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the prices since a few people remarked that they are overpriced. I got an eggplant wrap with roasted peppers and a very generous amount of fresh mozzarella for $6.50. I mean, what do people want or expect for an awesome wrap? The salad my friend ordered was a very large salad made with spinach and a ton of assorted vegetables chopped for $6.99. There is definitely a wait, so be prepared for that, and make sure that you bring cash unless you spend over $10 and then you can use a credit card. The staff who work the counter are friendly, the place is beyond spotless, and there are several options for salads, sandwiches, heroes, beverages, etc. I will most definitely be coming back!!! read more

Just walked into farmer Joel's for two bacon egg and cheeses and the guy behind the counter rather then taking my order told me to write my order down on the pad, guess he was busy so here I am in bagelville getting breakfast. Today was my second poor experience in this deli. I give it two stars because the egg sandwich is solid. My wife ordered French toast and said it tasted like bacon. Not exactly what she desired. The reason I am giving two stars is because there was a loser with his mask hanging on his chin exposing his mouth and nose walking all over the store. Not one employee told him to actually wear the mask. My last experience was a political convention in which some herbs were talking about the cheating in the 2020 election. Take out date: July 12, 2014 My mom got some catering here for my sister's birthday. She ordered eggplant parm & ziti. The eggplant parm was pretty good, cheesy, gooey, saucy enough but not as much sauce as I normally like and flavorful. The ziti was okay, not horrible but not outstanding either. It's cheaper to cater from Farmer Joel's than from Iavarone's (although Iavarone's is worth the extra bucks and in my opinion is better than Farmer Joel's. I was not in the store so I can't review on how the store looks, maybe one day if I stop in I can provide an updated review that's not based on the catering alone. read more

Disappointment at it's finest! Ordered a bfast wrap, 3 whites, broccoli, turkey, spk in a wrap. The sandwich was mostly a huge wrap that was way too big for a bfast wrap and made it appear to be a large sandwich. It was melting with American cheese and had pieces of tin foil in it and there was almost no eggs to be found with one slice of turkey. Not what I ordered! An absolute mess and a horrid example of quality. Unfortunately the search for a great quality bfast wrap goes on as many places cannot get this simple concept down. We love stopping here for quick lunch when we're in town! Today we ordered 3 chopped salads, a chicken hero and pre-made balsamic chicken wrap and some chips which was about $50. It took about 5-10 minutes to prepare everything which is about normal. To our surprise there were new owners but all were extremely friendly and the prices remained the same. The Dean Martin sandwich here makes me salivate. Crusty hero bread, chicken cutlet (or eggplant), fresh cut mozzarella, roasted red peppers, balsamic vinaigrette... it's a flavor bonanza! I've been trying to make it here whenever I'm back in town to savor it. I can remember when Farmer Joel's was just a dinky little store... it's all grown up now! I like this place. They have great breakfast sandwiches, good wraps and salads. A tip for them though: I would definitely come by more frequently if they would charge less than $10 on a card, especially when they also don't have an ATM. Having been a resident of Oceanside for about 20 years, of course this place is pretty standard and almost a landmark. It has obviously been there for so long because the food is great. The staff is extremely nice and I know that they were tested right after Hurricane Sandy. The gas station across the street was one of the few open and Farmer Joel's was the only place that would open extra early to feed those that waited hours for gas...they opened the deli, fed everyone and they were extremely nice and accommodating during such a stressful time. They have remained a great staff as always...very friendly. The place has a very homelike feel and it makes you comfortable. So on to the food - I highly recommend their deli sandwiches: yes, they are a little pricey but they give you a huge sandwich and everything is always fresh. I also really recommend them for catering. I was shocked at my aunt's party (she's a great cook) when I told her that the eggplant rollatini (or maybe it was parm) was amazing and she whispered that it was from Farmer Joel's. Their ziti was also good. Lastly, though it's pricey, they do have a nice produce section for those that live in the area. It's almost like a supermarket/deli. Well stocked, everything is fresh including the catered food - you know they use fresh ingredients. read more

Good lunch spot. I come here for the wraps and cold cuts. Boar's Head honey turkey is regularly on sale for $7.99 a pound, can't beat that. If you go for a wrap, I suggest the one that has fried eggplant cutlets, mozzarella, tomatoes & roasted red peppers. Simple combo but they give you a nice portion of really good mozzarella in the wrap in addition to the veggies which is always appreciated in my book. read more

Ordered 2 sandwiches at deli. The guy even wrote the order down. Then I see him making the food and ask him if the rolls have poppy seeds. He says nothing and the lady making a salad answered yes. I told him I asked for plain rolls and he looks and me and said you didn't say that. Um really ? Give me an attitude and give the customer what they ask for!! He proceeds to roll his eyes, cuts open 2 plain rolls and takes the filling off the poppy seed rolls to transfer on plain ones. SMH bc while doing that I noticed yellow American cheese on the sandwich and asked for white. I nicely asked him to switch it which he did but not without a comment. Honestly?? If I ask nicely and staff writes down my sandwich requests then makes mistakes why would you give me an attitude? I'm paying $8-10 for a deli sandwich and you can at least make it how I wanted without an attitude. Rudeness is going to take your customers elsewhere!!! read more
