well what can I say ! my car a BMW 320D 2002 failed MOT with Split exhaust excessive gas escape ( mot not done by farmers auto care ) took it to there Strathearn road branch in Edinburgh price quoted £375 I said okay We will phone you when the car is ready, waited till 16.30 then phoned and enquired about my car! sorry for not getting back to you but the part they sent did not fit the car (strange quote your reg and they will tell you exactly what car you have and what part is required) and also we had a problem with the studs on the turbo they were bent but we have fixed them and ordered another part. phone back tomorrow! I did very early part not arrived yet phone back later I did after 12:00 christmas eve closed for the holidays phoned back after the holiday same story the part they sent did not fit either but we have ordered another one from England being delivered by courier special delivery phone back later! well several phone calls later still not arrived now it's hogmany closed for 2 days Phoned back after the holidays still not arrived. At this point I asked them to put the old part back on an to which they said okay will call when it's done okay I said they called back later said they were running late It might not be ready.that's ok I will pick it up tomorrow. Went to pick it up paid for other work they had done on the car and when they tried to start it ! It would not start ? have you had problems starting the car before sir ? well when I first got the car I did ! but I had that repaired under warranty but if it is the same problem returned let the car cool down and it will start (worn/weak injector ) but no it's not the old fault returned it's something else . We had talked about it and what are you (Farmers) going to do about it nothing not our problem !! we have done nothing wrong ! so how wont the car start ?? I don't no. Ok I will leave the car here and seek legal advice and i walked out. I got a phone call very soon afterward saying " I have spoken to my area manager and if you take your'e car to a BMW dealer and get it checked and it can be proved that it was our fault we will pay for the repair's (very good) how do I get my car there it won't start! after further heated debate they paid to have the car taken to Peter Varday,s BMW Seafield road Edinburgh (Good) Diagnostic test They refused to pay (farmers) So I saved up and payed for it £108.00 to find out it required a replacement DDE unit contacted Farmer's area manager explained to the finding of the test and he said I will talk to Peter Varday's and get back to you ASAP which he did only to be told that as far as they were concerned (Peter Varday's ) there was nothing in fitting the exhuast by (farmers) that would have caused this. Well you would Like to think so! But one fact remains and that is they somehow drained the battery and had to jump start the car. Now I have my opinion as to what happened and if anyone who reads this has one I would be delight to here your view's on it . I have spoken to a company in Edinburgh who Specialise in engine management mainly BMW/Mercedes and their opinion is the same as mine . In the meantime if you want to hold on to your car don't take it to Farmer Autocare there is a good chance like me you will drive it in but won't drive it out. I feel moved to complain to you about the level of service I recieved from Farmers autocare Marchmont centre in Edinburgh today. I went to Farmers today because I was looking for a quick turn around on a new bearing for my Vauxhall Astra. I dropped the car off at about 8.15 am, when the staff were just going into the centre to start their day. I made it clear that I wanted the car for the afternoon. I was told that I would be phoned to let me know what was found so we could decide how to proceed. After not hearing from the centre I phoned at 12.15pm. The car had been checked and put aside, this was annoying as I had expected a call, however, Scott said that they could have it ready in three hours. I went to the centre a little early (about 2.30pm) to find that they had not started on the car. Scott seemed annoyed that I had turned up early and before he phoned. I again asked when the car would be ready. I was told that it would take an hour to do the work. I went away, my work in Edinburgh now finished and spent some time in a cafe. On my return I was relieved to see some work being done on my car, however, work soon stopped, and 20 minutes later I asked when it would be ready. I was told that it would take another hour... by now it was 5.30pm. I went for dinner. At 6.45 I decided I would just go and see how things were going, to find that my car was finished and noone had bothered to phone me to say. This has left me livid. I have wasted most of a day's work over this. As an aside the first price I was offered was £140, I said that this was more than I wanted to pay, the price dropped to £98.. I was surprised that there was as much price discretion as this, this made me wonder whether the first price offered was actually pretty unreasonable. I do not trust this centre and could not recomend this service to anyone. read more

I was asked to deliver my car to your St John's branch to assess an engine fault at 10am . i booked this one week in advance . After phoning at 11.40 I am told they won't even be looking at the car until at least another hour. I asked why I was told when I booked the car I was tod they would look at it at 10am . My reply was we are busy and if you want you can take your car to Blackhall. I cannot do this as I am recovering from a fractured hip and selected this branch which allowed me to walk home with a walking aid. I am disappointed as the previous manager was excellent and would have ensured my car was looked at or phoned me the day before and asked me to delay. I am also concerned as the forecast is for snow this pm and I won't be able to walk back in the late afternoon to collect my car from the Corstorphine branch. S.M read more

I visited Farmer autocare in Blackhall last night, 7/1/13, with blowing exaust I thought, turned out to be a broken bracket. The guy welded this back on and then said it was free of charge, it was only a 10 minute job but they could quite easily have replaced the broken section and charged accordingly. I was really impressed with the overall attitude of the staff, the efficiency and politeness. Thanks guys. read more
