If you want delicious pre-made…read moremeals - dips - soups, a fantastic cheese selection, baked goods, condiments galore, and a multitude of goodies - this is your place! Someone named Amanda (I assume is the owner) makes the most amazing dips! We got them all along with cheeses and meets for an epic charcuterie board. My favourite was the pimento, and French onion dips. My friend loved the artichoke and salsa (note - this was heavily cumin forward). We also got their hummus which is basic (and is named so). My fave cheese was their garlic herb cheese but we didn't go wrong with their variety. I also got all the vegetarian alternatives here! Well priced and stocked! I regret not getting their in-house backed tortilla chips! They offered samples that I tried on my way out! Rookie mistake! Don't miss this place! It's a must when visiting the island!

The selection was quite impressive. In fact it looked like a mini version of Famous Foods in Vancouver (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/famous-foods-vancouver#hrid:WwIBf4hsEi5WU0nm1P3hJQ), and the prices were not terribly much higher than Famous Foods - which is amazing considering it is a small store on an island with high transportation costs. The prices for items which were also available at the bigger Tru Value (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/tru-value-foods-pender-island#hrid:HIXC7EuR2wBNHJFzCksezA) were actually lower here for things like organic milk, eggs, etc. What a pleasant surprise. There were also Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Polish, German, Italian, and other products making for a very nice selection. I get the impression they will source whatever people request as well if there is something you need. Nice little store!

My mother lives up Isabella Point, so this spot is the closest for groceries. Not that anything is really "far" on Salt Spring, but it's a 7 minute drive vs. a 20 minute and sometimes, you just want to get bread, cheese and back to the patio for wine and ferry watching. I love this store. If you're coming over from the mainland, you may raise your eyebrows at some of the prices but do keep in mind... you're on an island and as previous mentioned, this is the only grocer on this particular side of the island. So though I too have raised an eyebrow or two, I understand the price hike. Either way, it's not astronomical in any sense. Where they make up for the price bump is with their selection. They have everything from the good ol' basics to organic, high end whatnots. It's a gluten free/dairy free/vegans dream, plus a play house for those of us who like to periodically stuff our faces with fancy chips and popcorn. But perhaps the best part about this place is the take away. They have excellent sandwiches, hot food and ice cream. They even do pizzas on certain days of the week that sound delightful. If Morningside isn't open (their hours can be questionable), this is my back up pre-ferry snack. If you get to the ferry early (and let's be honest, we always do... us mainlanders are programmed to expect a hectic ferry. It never is but we never learn) pop in here for a cup of tea and a sandwich. Grab a tub of local goats cheese, fancy crackers and some fresh bread to take home as well!
