For a small place, they offer a wide variety of ingredients, good choice in noodles, and even some particular things I was looking for (e.g., fried tofu, kaffir lime leaves). The owners are very friendly and both times I have been there, I have been offered help when it became obvious that I was wandering the aisles looking for items on my list. It is a little pricier than I would like, but that's what I would expect for a small store that is basically the only game in town. There is another Asian market in town, and I am not sure how that compares. But I would be perfectly happy with this store even if it is the only option in town. Come to Asia Oriental Market!

Their bakery section is insane. We bought the Mango Mocha cake and the Mango mochi puff, it was yummy. Overall, its much cleaner than the stores here and carry more selections than I have access at home.

Both locations carry virtually identical merchandise (although see Point 2 below). There are a couple of things that are available at the Cordata location, not at the downtown location. 1. If you'd like to recycle batteries and light bulbs, you need to come here. The downtown location used to have recycling bins for them, but not anymore. 2. The Cordata location seems to have a larger selection of organic wine. In fact, they probably have most organic wines in town (although I have never done an official comparison). It's easy to spot organic wine (at both Co-op locations) since the price labels are green (see my photos). I highly recommend the Co-op. If you have not tried them, you owe yourself to give them a try! ***************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. I could immediately tell upon walking in that white guilt and a love for seitan was a prerequisite for shopping here. Shades of Zoey's "Free Earth Collective" grocery store in SBC's "The Dictator" come to mind. Nevertheless, I chose a selection of foods from the salad bar and the hot bar and brought them back to my hotel. -- I was pleasantly surprised at the quality -- very organic, very fresh, high quality foods. I would definitely consider this a great option for quick, healthy food if you're not too hot on cooking at home. Moderate checkout lines during rush hour -- don't expect rapid service - it's a co-op .......bring your patience. Definitely cool spot for organic groceries but a bit of a step down from Skagit Valley Food Co-op in Mt. Vernon. Good spot for food if you're in North Bellingham and you don't want to make the drive south to Whole Foods.

It was clear to me that most of the items, particularly snacks, are from Eastern Europe. I was hoping to buy cookies from Italy, but they had few Italian sweets and no Italian cookies. PRICES, etc I only looked at snacks, but most of them looked reasonably priced. All items were clearly marked for price. The store is clean and well organized. RECOMMENDATION With the "right" expectations, this is an excellent store. If you're only looking for something from a Western European county, you may be a little disappointed. If you're looking for food from Eastern Europe countries, I'm sure you will be happy here. If I'm not mistaken, they also sell fresh bread. Giant potato wedges, chicken tenders, and THE BEST SAMOSAS in town! (so far, they're only the second place I've tried samosas, but they're really good) The samosas are lightly spiced but still very aromatic, crispy on the outside, fluffy potato inside.
