Wind In The Willows is absolutely a stunning gem of a venue! New Red barn and a vintage red truck…read more~~ oh yah yeehaw! We came as guests to a small intimate wedding overlooking the pond area. Being that it's just the beginning of July it was a hot summer day. So we sat in full sun in our lovely Sunday best attires. They did have cold water available for us all & even that got pretty warm very fast. I'm not sure if they have a large white tent option but that might be something to consider here. For the reception we got to hang in the lower level of the barn until it was time to head up to the top floor of the barn. We had delicious charcuterie and open bar along side with the catering company passing along meat appetizers. Ie meatballs and a spicy and sweet bacon. Oh and bruschetta (for me the topping was good but the bread was way too crispy) is something I skipped on. Once upstairs there was a Fun DJ in the loft and the dance floor immediately below it. The open bar continued up there and the buffet dinner was divine. The dinner tables were in two separate sections on the outside of the dance floor. Only a few qualms to this venue. I felt it could've been cooler in the barn especially because we were up in the rafters and structural support area. And we all know heat rises and body heat in smaller spaces will increase that heat. I also didn't see any elevator access and the stairs can be challenging for some guests. The rafters kinda blocked viewing the special speeches and the first dances. Otherwise, this was a beautiful event and venue.

Here's our experience. 1) Parking: Located up a long driveaway, there was enough parking for guests without it feeling cramped. 2) Space: For the Indian ceremony, we were outside in their garden. It was beautiful, but also very cold on a windy April evening. Luckily, there were blankets for guests, but it was COLD. The cocktail hour was below the barn with powerful heaters. Upstairs in the old barn was the reception. It felt a little tight for 150 guests, but not bad. 3) History: The property is on an old farm with a brick Colonial era house. The house is where the wedding party got ready for the ceremony. I couldn't find record of this easily online, but it's safe to assume the former owners of the house enslaved people pre-Civil War. It's important to note so we don't take that lightly.

The groom's getting ready area was nice and had a lot of games/activities to keep the men happy throughout the day, as us ladies got ready. We were actually quite jealous of all of the fun things they had- the bridal suite had nothing! My biggest complaint would be that the bridal suite was overrun by bugs- wasps, stink bugs, and lady bugs. The staff was friendly and did their best to remove the wasps (the only bug we cared too much about), but it was still a bit gross.
