Sneaky, deceitful. Undisclosed lock site fee. I stopped in the office to inquire about rates and availability. I was told March was $1,070 and April was $890. On a map they circled the sites that were available at that rate. I drove past them all, picked Site 331, went back to the office, and reserved it for March 1st through April 30th. They said I'd get a confirmation by email. Back home, I opened the confirmation email and it had a $250 lock site fee on it in addition to March and April site rent. Neither of the women behind the counter had ever said anything about any kind of lock site fee. Ever. They just quietly went about the business of circling sites on the map, suggesting I drive by them and pick one, booking the reservation, and sending me on my way. They said nothing when I first arrived and asked about availability, they said nothing when they handed me the map with the circled sites, they said nothing when I returned to the office to book the site, they said nothing when we completed the booking. The only time I ever learned anything about a lock site fee was after I had made my deposit, gone home, and received the email confirmation. This is a fee which they should have disclosed at the very beginning. It was a total shock and surprise to see it on the reservation confirmation. UPDATE: I sent a message about this to the front desk and heard nothing back, so I enlisted the help of the on-site real estate person who had shown me a park model that same day. Still no response from the front desk, no email, no phone call, no message, no explanation, no apology, just a computer-generated email from their reservation system with a revised guest folio PDF attached showing a "Site Lock Fee Waived" credit. We love it at Far Horizons. Big warm pool, and the best hot hot tub I've found with open access 24/7. There are plenty of lounges, tables, chairs, umbrellas, two cabana beds, gas grills, very nice restrooms with showers, and a small sauna. Happy hours with free beer or wine with live entertainment at the pool twice a week during snowbird season. 5 nice pickleball courts, 4 newly covered pool tables with new cues, workout room, library with games, computers with internet, printing, and a TV. Our new manager Michael is a professional entertainer, and likes to preform tight shows in the beautiful ballroom. Our Activities director Valerie is very personable, and makes sure everything runs smoothly. There are plenty of activities, and many have food supplied by Cal Am at no charge! First cabin all the way!! Super clean and well maintained throughout. Heated pool and spa. All sorts of activities to do and the entire staff is amazing!! Highly recommend and we brought our Yorkies with us and they loved it too!! Love this home away from home!! read more

I have spent a month a year at the place Michael and Christie previously managed in Yuma for three years. Even with limited resources they always had something going on and the place was improved each year. I have stayed at Far Horizons for four years and even bought a park model. I was here when Cal-Am took over which didn't go well to say the least. I was ecstatic to arrive here this year and find them managing. I won't go into all the details but this place has a much happier feel to it than it did before. Love them. Now if he would just let up on the ID badge requirements everything would be perfect. read more

Very nice park, lots of activities. They advertise free Wi-Fi but do not tell you it depends on your location. We have been here for 3 weeks and have only been able to get on line a few times and only for a few minutes. They have 3 public computers that are hard wired for the entire park. This is my only negative but for me it is a huge negative . read more

Travel extensively for 7 months a year in our big rig RV, visiting many rv parks. But the best one ever is Far Horizons where we now spend the winters. It's not one of those gigantic parks...it's a real community and neighborhood. Our new managers, Michael and Christy are delightful...full of energy, fun loving and thoughtful. The park has been a winter oasis but now with Michael and Christy, the park is an adult fun camp full of activities, music, art, good food and great conversations. I also must say that the entire park staff are wonderful, they work hard and yet are always available for a quick conversation and a happy response to any question. Regarding activities, Far Horizons new sewing room is huge and the quilters here are amazing. I don't quilt, but I love to watch as these men and women create beautiful quilts and they are always so welcoming to me and ready to teach me the minute I'm ready. I can say the same for the fused glass group, the pottery group, the silver smithing group, in fact, for all the organized groups here at Far Horizons. And, now that we finally have an off-leash dog area, I'm beyond happy. I think that once the pea gravel gets laid down, it will be almost perfect. Far Horizons is a wonderful resort with clean facilities and friendly people. The staff goes out of their way to see that everything is just right. There are a variety of activities to keep residents and guests entertained. At The Resort there are opportunities to participate in outdoor fun such as Pickleball and swimming, hiking and biking . If being inside is of interest, playing cards, board games etc. are offered. To satisfy the creative side the Silver shop, Pottery Shop, Wood shop, painting and drawing provide great opportunities. Music is a big part of life at FH. Not only are there groups for instrumental and vocal musicians but "Music on the Patio" including dancing is a big hit several times a week. Wether you are in Tucson for a short time or an extended period and are looking for a place to have fun and make lasting friendships Far Horizons is the place to be. read more

Found this park on Good Sams. Lesson learned. Just because the ratings are 10 due to clean bathrooms and nice facilities doesn't mean that all goes as well through no fault of our own. Not a great place for big rigs. Back in spaces only. Very cramped together makes it difficult to get into your space. You are eyeball to eyeball in this place - enough so that its like being at the drive-in movie because we can watch the neighbors tv. What they dont tell you is the park is not updated as far as the power prior to booking. After having two days of power outages my husband was told that the services were not updated to carry the load of newer RVs. We asked several people around us and they have come back to this park because they know which areas have updated power. We are especially concerned because our dog has cancer and cannot tolerate the extreme heat that builds up in a RV when we are away. You must pay for electricity here which the dont mention either. We do have a generator which we used when the power was out but it is expensive to run and we are supposed to have power. Dog park is a long dusty hard as rock road. Not a park at all. People are confused in the beginning. I met a couple on the street asking for directions, who were exhausted and exceptionally put. out at the gate people who told them it was just an 1/8 of a mile to a restaraunt. Unless you know where the gate it is a big mystery even with a mad. When you get there on the washed out gulley area you have to use a key to open a gate. Therefor they were told by a neighbor that it was easier to walk by the entrance and walk down the street. Ugh! Oh yes they have been bought out as well. Guess what? When we got here it was double the price I was quoted. We havent even been here a week yet. I am worried about the rest of our visit. Oh and we did get to move to an updated area, but low and behold-not big enough for our rig and slide outs. We are now parked crooked in a high traffic area. read more

I lived there for years. Yes, they try to keep the Park Models on the up and up--can't let the place get the look of a rundown trailer park Their sustaining clientele are seniors--many on fixed incomes. The park does upgrades on the backs of their yearly lessees, yes they discount the lease if you pay for the year upfront. The dirty little secret is that they have the sustaining lessees by the short hairs, it's difficult and expensive to pick up and move and the high priced ground rent makes it hard to sell a used unit. If you're thinking of buying a unit, just be aware that the $4000 plus rent for the first year will be at least $200 more every year thereafter--you read that right the rent goes up $200 every year. read more

We had a reservation prepaid to stay 2 nights and because we could not get there by dark (due to reasons beyond our control) they would not let us in. They had nothing online about this policy. We called the after hours phone line and the lady told us essentially tough luck and disconnected the line. We were able to get in the next day and we're not charged for the night we weren't able to stay. Once inside the place was nice. read more

I made a reservation a week before our intended arrival. On the day of arrival, they called to find out when we were rolling in so they could make sure we knew what to do. The office staff was very friendly. We went to our spot and it was perfect with one exception. We didn't have a spot with cable. No problem really since we have a dish that we used. The park is super clean and super quiet. Nice part of town as well. I've seen the negative reviews and we just didn't experience anything bad. We will come back for sure. read more
