Wow, my wheelchair tires were low on air so I rolled in and the kind gentleman filled my tires. What an angel.

I hike the Cochise Trail ever few years. There's a lot to see here: rock formations, vistas,…read morebirds, insects and rattlesnakes, and is a challenging hike of ten miles. I usually start this from the west side, driving through Tombstone and taking Middlemarch road north of town for nine miles before turning north on a forest road. This road is a dirt road that gets very rutted the last two miles as it follows a dry wash. This wash fills into a creek during active monsoon season, so a high-clearance vehicle is necessary. Unlike the east side, parking and dry camping on the west side is free. The trail climbs immediately for 1.75 miles before hitting the western Stronghold and from here it's a gradual descent to the eastern trailhead and campground. The only source of water is at Halfmoon tank, a cattle pond about halfway up or down the trail, depending on which direction you start this hike. Lots of butterflies were in the area in September. During active monsoon season, the creek will run and the waterfall on the western side is a sight to behold. My hiking party rests here near the restrooms before returning the way we came. There was no water in the campground last month when I last did this hike. Dogs are allowed The only negative thing about this hike is its remoteness and accessibility. From Sierra Vista it's a two-hour drive each way. Add another five miles for the hike and it's a day-long adventure.

They say mountain bikes are permitted but we are riders and I think the trails are too narrow. And slots where you can t pedal. I say hike. So no parking, bathrooms or camping or potable water. But you can park outside the gates. A few did, like us. Since we are new to the site, we only went to the water tank. Lots of shade along the way. Caves. Huge Rock formations. Hawks circling above hunting. Butterflies, BlueJays. Lots to see. I m going to go back while the weather is still cool. It is normally Officially Closed July to September due to extreme temps. Great to use your imagination about where the Apache's would have hidden in wait to protect the Stronghold.

The sites are all nicely level and covered in gravel, which is all neatly kept and clean. There's plenty of space between rigs, even with your slides out, and everyone is just lovely! All of the hook ups are conveniently located and in good shape, so hooking up only took a few moments and we were set to go exploring. The staff are all very helpful, kind and willing to go the extra mile to meet the needs of campers. We also enjoyed the other folks in the park. Some stay long term and other were passing through, just like us. The park is clean, very well kept and so convenient to loads of wonderful day trips like Karchner Caverns, Tombstone, Fort Bowie, White Water Draw where the Sandhill Cranes stop, and LOADS of mountain hiking trails. It was a GREAT week at Mountain View RV Park!

The staff is very friendly and were extremely understanding when we let them know that we would be getting back a little bit after check out due to the graduation, and my son needing to get his exit packet and have all of his things ready to go (that took a little while). The rates are extremely reasonable and it is close to gas and a circle K that is one of the most well stocked I have seen.I would stay here again if I were to come back to the area for wildlife viewing and/or hiking- it is a beautiful area.

Highly recommend you take a cavern tour…read more Pre-order tickets online. They sell out! Choose either the Rotunda or the Big Room tour. Same price, different part of the cavern. Note: the Big Room tour is unavailable in summer while the bat pups are learning to fly. It reopens sometime in October omce they migrate south for the winter. Price of parking is included with your tour. A brief pre-tour huddle happens just outside the museum before hopping on the tram for a ride to the entrance. Early morning tours = cool temperatures for this outdoor part of your visit. Come early and view the video in their auditorium which plays on the hour and half hour. Explore their museum area at your leisure. Enjoy the hardens and trails. The gift shop was closed during our visit as they switch vendors. Public restrooms on front and back of buildings were clean, with water fountains and bottle filling stations nearby. Leave *all* your belongings in your vehicle or rent a locker for four quarters each. No coats, bags, cell phones, cameras, back lacks, sunglasses, etc. in the caverns. Picnic tables in the shade in the garden area. Caverns are wheelchair accesible with handicap parking spots by the entrance and a wheelchair lift onto the tram.

Though there are no stairs, the sidewalks inside the cave are not accessible. It is mostly uphill with steep inclines and declines. You would need to be strong to push yourself or be pushed in a wheelchair inside the caves. There were also parts where my wheelchair would not fit through due to narrow paths and hairpin turns. I needed to walk a few steps to get through. I would say the Kartchner Caverns are not accessible, but stair-less.
