Every year we come to Holden Beach with the family and every year we go play putt putt and eat ice cream at Fantasy Isle. Now in truth the course isn't anything too amazing or intricate, but don't let that stop you from visiting and making it like a good golf event. We come and let the kids putt around even though they take a dozen swings. It's funny to watch. Then the adults try and sober up and channel their inner Tiger Woods to beat each other. We've come before when no one is here and we've come when the wait is long, but there is tons of seating around and everyone always seems happy here. The ice cream inside is good. It you are unsure of what to get an employee will give you samples and you can choose from a cup or a few different cones. Then you can sit inside in the AC or outside on the swing or some of the chairs laid around. Prices are pretty cheap for everything and it's a great family place. read more

This place is awesome! We played putt putt first and honestly even this the course is old it's well maintained, you can tell they've spent the money to keep it nice and honestly it was very fun. The Ice Cream, just let me say wow, not only was it delicious but the price for how much they give you was also a big plus. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist you. Sad to leave Holden beach after a full week of it, we came here to semi-lift our spirits up This place is really cool. An ice cream shop that doubles as an outdoor mini golf course! They allow you to sample ice cream, which is always nice to try before you buy We immediately glued our eyes to pirates treasure, which is a combination M&M's and Oreo ice cream. Both of us got a scoop each in a homemade waffle cone, but it's really 2 scoops haha! Bottom line: play putt putt, then grab dessert afterwards! My only gripe is that it's Maola ice cream with homemade waffle cones, with the price of one scoop costing $4.25, whereas I can grab homemade ice cream for the same price with as much ice cream. I'm a snob about ice cream and I can't help it! But pirates treasure was great! read more

The employees are super friendly and efficient. They use local farmer owned North Carolina Maola ice cream - try the pirates booty with has oreo and M&Ms, so good! Waffle cones are homemade. They have mini golf too. What you're really here for is the show though - Putters the adorable squirrel. When I heard that the squirrel gets its own ice cream cone, I figured she would grab it and run back up the tree. This squirrel goes right up to the man, takes the cone, and eats it just like a person - right in the middle of the crowd. For you environmentalists - it's a special mixture including honey and almond milk - with a bit of vanilla. The cutest thing on earth - sure to put a smile on anyone! Currently, feedings happen twice a day at 1:30 and 4:30. Please be a good sport: don't try to feed the animal yourself, and give it room to breathe! read more

Some holes are simple, others are complex in design. Be sure to see the title for each hole - some are very clever! Some evenings the course is packed and may take upwards of 45 minutes to complete if you've got some large groups ahead of you. Games are very reasonably priced. ICE CREAM Okay, listen up. First time there. Pretty good Ice Cream. Waffle cone taste great. I went mid week at 7:30pm and it was a little busy. Service was very fast and pleasant. Parking is a little tight but not a big deal. AMAZING staff and new owners!!! We enjoyed ice cream three times during our stay in Holden Beach. They were very accommodating for peanut and tree nut allergies for our daughters. We played putt putt too and have to say that the gold course was very well maintained and fun! After our round of putt putt & ice cream, we discovered a screw in our truck's tire and it was flat in the parking lot. Owner Terin and his crew went ABOVE AND BEYOND by helping us out with a tire plug kit, encouragement and assistance. One changed out and plugged tire later, we were back on our way. Honestly an amazing experience. Mini golf is just that. You can get it anywhere. But these folks get hospitality. They made my family feel like we owned the place.
