Buyer Beware -- Do NOT Trust This Business Finding a jeweler you can trust is difficult, and I initially trusted David Gabriel of Fantast Diamonds completely. I was even a returning customer, having previously worked with him on an engagement ring setting. This time, I brought in an eternity band my mother gifted me. The goal was to update the setting and make it larger. What should have taken about one week ended up taking over three weeks due to repeated delays. During the resizing process, it was necessary to add two stones. David assured me the new stones would match the quality of the 16 existing ones. I placed no spending limit and made it clear that consistency in size and quality was my top priority. When I received the ring, the issue was immediately noticeable--even to the naked eye. Of the 16 stones, two clearly do not match: one is cloudy and CHIPPED, and the other has a dark, blackish tint. Additionally, I paid $100 for a formal appraisal from the American Appraisal Association that David was going to secure for me. David never provided a hard copy of the appraisal, and the photo included was not of my actual ring. He later admitted that he forgot to have the appraisal done and simply "told" them what to appraise it for without the ring ever being examined. I attempted to resolve these concerns directly with David, but he has not responded. Based on my experience, I strongly advise others to stay away. Do not trust this business. Beware and do not go here. Rodi is a greedy businessman who will only take all your savings. Went for a vacation here in NY and found this place for buying an engagement ring. Rodi sold me a 31K GIA certified treated diamond with setting. Throughout the transaction, I already made 11K as the downpayment. I changed my mind about getting the stone and told him I wont be getting it since it is treated and so I did ask for my downpayment and allow him to take the 10 to 20 percent restocking fee as they kept the stone for me but he denies to refund my money and offered a *store credit* but then I asked an exchange of rolex and again denies that I couldn't have a rolex and Im only allowed to have a diamond. So he gave me 2 options of diamonds. I chose what I think is a better one. When I received the stone and the certificates, I found out that what I got from his store was only half of the total amount that I paid for. 2 Jewellers told me, I was scammed by Rodi. This review is long overdue. I purchased my engagement ring from David in April of 2021. When I first met David, he was recommended to me through a close friend. Unlike many other jewlwers I have met with up until that point, it was very nice to see that he was not pushy or sales forward. He really cared about what you wanted to purchase and why you wanted to purchase it. It wasn't about the money or the budget. It was about choosing a shape she will love the best, and then explaining how carat, clarity and color play into the price of the diamond. He also did a great job in making sure the diamond we chose had a custom setting built for it (something I asked for) Normally a jeweler will try to sell you the highest quality diamonds for the highest price possible. That is not the type of person David is. He isn't trying to take advantage of his customers. He really wants you to buy what your comfortable with and has no problem showing you stone after stone until you find what you are looking for. Another benefit of working with Fantasy Diamonds is they will take care of your ring as if it's their own property. After about 8 months of wearing her ring, my fiance banged it very hard against a marble table and two of the small stones on her band came off. I called David panicking and he assured me that it was not a problem. He invited us to come to the store whenever we were available to replace the stones free of charge. After a quick modification and steam cleaning, her ring was brand new all over again just like the day I purchased it. I sincerely recommend working with David and Fantasy Jewelers for all of your jewelery needs. Calling a spade a spade, it's really hard to find a trustworthy jeweler nowadays, especially on 47th street. It was missing metal and had dents, chips, and uneven prongs. When I went back to the store they denied any responsibility and accused me of damaging the setting. In addition to the poor craftsmanship, the store promised the setting would be "custom-made" to fit my stone, but when I got it inspected by an appraiser he confirmed that was not the case. Instead, the gem was jammed into a setting they already had instead of making a new one. David was extremely patient with me during my extensive searching and buying process of an engagement ring. Last January my girlfriend and I were in the diamond district where we were just looking and I was getting a good idea for what she liked. He told me to give him a couple days to contact a few of his connections. A few days went by and David reached out saying he had 4 stones that were close to the specs I noted. He made an appointment with me on a Saturday morning (which he normally does not do). I was able to pick out the stone and band of my fiancé's dreams on a Saturday morning and he expedited the making of the ring so I had it in hand on Tuesday. After proposing, the ring was a little big on her. When we returned from vacation, she was able to go to his store one day after work and have it resized seamlessly. I cannot begin to explain how amazing the process was with David. He does not apply pressure to purchase, and he makes sure you are comfortable with the purchase you are making. SCAMMERS! Do not shop here. When my fiance purchased my ring here, Rodi lied and told my fiance that it was GIA certified and that he would mail the certificate. We had to call him for weeks before he claimed to have mailed it. The only paperwork we received was the appraisal paperwork. Turns out not only is it not GIA certified, it has flaws so the appraisal paperwork has incorrect info and the value isn't what we paid. I honestly believe they pay the appraiser off to put whatever they want it to say. Before discovering it's not GIA certified we went back here to see if we could upgrade the diamond size and Rodi kept pushing us to take a "lab grown" AKA fake diamond. I don't want a fake diamond. How insulting?! We went to another jeweler in the area who was way more professional and helpful and is actually a GIA certified jeweler who inspected the diamond and it's not worth as much as we paid due to the internal flaws inside the diamond. So basically Fantasy diamonds overcharged us and we'll lose most of what we spent to upgrade elsewhere. read more

Don't let them hustle you into locking in a deposit. Clearly does not want you going to any other store so you cant research your ring so they can hit you with the "deposit is none refundable, you have to buy from me." I tried to exchange my deposit money for something else which he and the receipt mentioned I can exchange for. Few minutes later he thought about it and tried to force me to buy the ring I did not want anymore after finding out how much he marked it up and did not clearly tell me some details of the ring. Tried to sell me a $6,000 (at most) ring for $14,000. Did all my research before ultimately saying no to this heat treated ring. Talks like he knows best for you but once you give him your money or saying you want to go with some other shop, true colors will show. They will swear down on their life to sell you a 2x markup ring and make it sound like they're doing a deal for you. Since his rings are natural HPHT treated, hard to find much about it online unless you have a friend with a diamond value calculator, you can see truly how much they try to mark these rings up. I know some lovely couples on these reviews got milked, would be careful when going back. Just check all the other 1 star reviews on google and yelp. SideNote: 1. NEVER put a deposit down if you are unsure, even if a seller persists. That is a red flag. 2. If they mention no refunds, clearly some thing is up. It's because the 5 star reviewers are FAKE (or clueless customers who don't know what they really bought) and the 1 star reviews are real customers. I came in with my fiance looking for an engagement ring. We admitted to them that we were just browsing and didn't know much about diamonds. Fantasy Diamond, at first, treated us very nice ("We have been in business for generations. You aren't a customer to us. You are family. If you are happy with your engagement ring, we want you to come back and get your wedding bands and then maybe your anniversary rings. We want to be your family jeweler."). As we spent more time with them, they started to sell us HARD on buying a diamond right then and there and became very pushy. In fact, we got up to leave a couple of times because they started to make us feel uncomfortable but eventually, two hours later, they finally sold us on a diamond that we thought we were getting a great deal. Or so we thought....a friend of ours who knows a lot about diamonds because she used to work in the industry took a look at the diamond and told us we overpaid by $5,000. Further, they sold us a clarity enhanced diamond and they told us "An enhanced diamond is a real diamond but it just has flaws that jewelers fix. No one will notice the difference." They failed to tell us they are fake and true, legitimate jewelers would never buy enhanced diamonds. They also FAILED to us that clarity enhanced diamonds can change color or break over time because the artificial fillers used to make the diamond look better deteriorates over time. Wouldn't that be great?? My 80-year-old, wrinkled, hand wearing my beloved engagement ring, cracking right before my eyes. We went back and complained to them that they sold us fake diamonds and that we were scammed out of $5,000. They changed from the friendly "we want to be your family jeweler for life" to savage, disrespectful, con-men. They told us it was our fault for not doing our research and we should have known enhanced diamonds were not true diamonds. They even had the balls to say it was their right to try to make a profit from their customers so they did nothing wrong. Do not purchase from this store. An absolutely awful and stressful experience. My fiancé and I purchased a loose oval diamond and had it set in a band which they had selected for us. The salespeople used high pressure sales tactics but I did like the diamond so decided to go ahead with the purchase despite my instincts telling me not to. Not two weeks later I lightly hit the ring (a solitaire diamond) off a surface and it popped out of the setting and fell onto the floor. I took it to jeweller who was appalled with the production and told me that not only was the setting made for a round diamond but it was too small to even fit the diamond I had chosen. They sold it to me knowing this. Luckily it fell out on my kitchen floor so I have the diamond but still had to pay another couple hundred dollars to have a new setting made.
