What an incredible spot! Every summer I come over here for my fruit and chili fix. The people who run the cart are so friendly. They give you slices of fruit as they make your bowl and check to make sure the spice level is to your liking. The portions are super generous and the fruit is perfectly ripe. This is one of my favorite spots, would highly recommend!!

What a great food cart!! We stopped by on a weekend and ordered a combination of mangoes and watermelon. The fruits were cut to perfection by individuals wearing gloves and aprons. The mangoes were so soft and tender with no strings. The watermelon was firm and sweet. What t treat - the fruits were divine. I plan to revisit them very soon.

After driving past this place for 12 years, I finally decided to stop and try it. Good gawd, what have I been waiting for!? I had no idea what to order, and I don't speak any Spanish. I basically just walked up and said "Fruit?" They were super kind, walking me through the various options, and as they prepared what was essentially the MTV Cribs of fruit cups, they kept asking, "Do you like cucumber? How about coconut?" As the very skilled knife-user continued to chop up whole halves of melon, coconut, and mangoes, I just thought to myself, "Who else ordered the fruit cup? Cause that ain't fitting into any single cup I've ever seen." Turns out, it was all for me. I'm not kidding when I say that, for $9, I got at least 2 lbs of fruit. My fruit cup was the size of a full gallon of ice cream. TRUE STORY. Plus, as they prepared it, they continuously gave me and my toddler huge pieces of fruit to taste. They topped our fruit selection with salt, lime, chili, and fresh orange juice. It was beyond delicious. Do yourself a favor: STOP AT THIS PLACE! Just take whatever they are willing to throw your way.

Best fruit stand in Chicago!!! Delicious and fresh. Will definitely be a repeat customer!

I had the gazpacho and coconut water from here. Every ingredient was freshly cut in front of us- including the coconuts used for our water! The service was amazing. It was obvious that it was our first time at the stand and the owner gave us fresh samples of the fruit he was using as while we were waiting. Muchos gracias!!

Delicious, fresh fruit, spicy chili, salt and fresh lime and orange juice makes the perfect summer treat. Bring cash because they don't take anything else. $8 for medium cokteles, $10 for a large. Don't forget to tip!

Everyone is really friendly and everything is fresh! Wish I lived closer than an hour away, but definitely worth the drive!

This was the medium size,,,,, after I ate half of it! They pile it on passed the rim almost half a foot!!!

It is within walking distance, which is a plus, though I do watch the prices and go to Mariano's or Jewel when they offer more for less. EVERYONE at the meat/cheese counter is great, and friendly. They really do know their stuff, though at times, I wish they had a ticketed numbered system. It would prevent me from going off on some of the older Eastern Euro clientele when they try to butt in line. NOT happening! The cashiers are efficient, though there is a tall male one that is new to me. Feels like his name should be Draco. Would almost pass for AI, due to his height an personality, though AI can be programmed to be charming and efficient. He literally saw me put down items on the belt and looked like he was confused as to what his role was, then asked me if I wanted a bag for all my purchases, despite it being obvious that I had none with me. I had to get snippy, because, well, I had to get snippy. Oprah did mention them in one of her shows, so they got "trendy" afterwards, but as other reviewers have said, they do carry items that you would find more at a Treasure Island than a Jewel, Aldi, or Mariano's. They are good for that. Now, if they would only work on their AI cashiers and make them more personable, then I would give them a five star rating. Especially since peeps in the hood voted down Amazon from taking over and planting seeds on the corner of Western and Lawrence, to take over the grocery store market.

It's a pretty standard small grocery store, with a few things that may be hard to find elsewhere. They have some international brands, although the Mexican grocery store farther west on Lawrence (Lindo Michigan) is a better bet for Central American things. They sell some local brands, including freshly-roasted coffee from Brü Coffeeworks, also on Lawrence. Prices are a smidge higher than you might find elsewhere, but at least they're consistent and don't require you to download an app or join a frequent shopper club or whatever. I do wish they would stay open a little later. The staff are helpful, and they have a good selection of spices and seasonings. I wasn't able to find caraway seed elsewhere, for some reason, but when I asked a staff member if they had any, he immediately took me to the exact spot on the shelf where they had it in two different container sizes.

Upon checking out.. no cashiers were at a register. ONLY SELF CHECKOUT. A 70 year old or so women was also checking out. This poor woman could be your parents or an elderly person you know. The manager here wanted to save what $15 so another staff member could be stocking a shelf? Crazy. Absolutely insane. This store is pretty decent overall, but the levels of disrespect this shows for your own staff and your community is just unreal. Whoever staffed the store that night should be deeply ashamed of themselves. The stockholders are gonna be ok. Put a working staff member on registers at all times period. What if someone got injured? The self checkout here has a TINY spot to put your bag. Move the bag a bit and the scale freaks out. I can think of endless reasons for a cashier to be working at all times. Think of members of your community who need help if you run a FOOD STORE. Think of ways to improve your business rather than screwing customers. What about people who are neurodivergent and have disabilities? All to save like $100 a week. I bet they pull cashiers every night that last hour. What an F you to the people you sell to. TLDR: 9:30pm and NO cashier working a register. Elderly woman forced to use self checkout with a cart full of heavy items.
