DO NOT GO TO LOMPOC FANTASTIC SAM'S. First off, I scheduled an appt online specifically for Nancy (who had good reviews), but was instead greeted by Delaney who announced she would be doing my cut because Nancy was on lunch break (I was 5 mins early for my appt). The shop is nasty and when I asked for a shampoo before cut, Delaney seemed annoyed, then lead me to a filthy sink that was clogged as she washed my hair in the soup of other client's hair. Disgusting. Then Delaney plopped a hand towel on my head and directed me back to her chair, where she proceeded to part my hair obscurely (without consult) and trim my blunt cut bob, using shears that were as sharp as butter knives. The results will require a new haircut. read more

Nancy the store manager cuts my thinning hair. She friendly and caring; listens and does exactly as requested. Per Nancy's recommendation, I'm using CHI's Royal Treatment Bond & Repair Leave-in Treatment. My hair is very dry from coloring the greys. Wonderful product; has really helped end frizz and dryness. I'm able to grow my hair long again. My only problem, I work a lot and haven't the time to make hair appointments! read more

This is my first time hair cut in 4 years. And I'm not happy with my hair cut at all. Because the person give me hair cut she start to give me hair cut from the back. She work on my hair and slide my hair about 2 minutes. Then I told her I just want straight cut I don't want to slide them. Then she start to work all over sometimes left sometimes right. It seem like she didn't learn to do hair cut. She work on my hair about 15 minutes the she said done. I asked her you not dry my hair. She said " No" because I book appointments for hair cut So dry hair not included. I asked her "Do I have to walk out with wait hair". She said yes. Because I didn't told her i want to hair dry. And she gave customer waiting then she can't do hair dry for me. I never know when you get wash your hair and have to walk out with wait hair. Terrible service After I came home I dry my hair and I have to spend an hour to trim my hair all around left side longer than right side too. I went today to get haircuts for my two boys. One is on the spectrum and has only had a trim at home while the 3 year old has never had one! The two women that did their hair..... did amazing! They were so patient with my wiggly boys and gave them the exact cuts I wanted. Especially with my oldest who squirmed around and we had to keep getting back into the chair. This review is mainly based on the quality of customer service at this location. We have used this salon several times and were planning on continuing to do so but, after this last time, we decided it was no longer worth our time and money. The attitude of some of the hairdressers here is terrible: no humility, little room for intelligent human interaction and no desire to create a comfortable experience. When we were young and employed, we were told by our boss to leave our personal problems outside the door upon entering the building. It is a lesson that some young people working at this location should be taught. read more

I first want to say that Jenny is an amazing hairdresser and the others could learn from her tremendously. She was willing to FIX the UNEVEN trim that the original lady gave me. She took the time out of her day to help me while the others were ON THEIR PHONES. My original hairdresser didn't talk to me at all - didn't even say hi. When she washed my hair, she slammed my head down on the sink multiple times, causing me to get a headache. She barely washed my hair, just roughly hit my head and scratched me with her long a** nails. When she went to trim my hair, I didn't even have the luxury of sitting down - which initially I didn't mind. However, she took less than 5 minutes on my hair, and didn't bother to dry it or brush it out afterwards. My hair was soaking wet - dripping on the floor. Before I could ask if I could get my hair dried, she LEFT. I looked in the mirror, and saw that it was so uneven! I have no layers, my hair is supposed to be one length. I made that very clear, and yet one streak was super long, and the other barely toughed my shoulders. I was shocked, but all the other employees were either eating junk food or fully immersed on their phone. I payed and left to ask my friend what I should do. My friend took me in again and assured me that I needed to get it fixed. I did so and Jenny was able to help me. She is so kind and talkative. Moral to the story: If you are going here, make sure to request Jenny. If you don't, prepare for a bad headache and uneven, wet hair. read more

Oscar helped booked me into the last appointment slot for a same-day appointment (book early people!), and I'm so glad he did! Not just because I needed a haircut really badly, but because he was everything I could ask for in a hair stylist. My hair hasn't been cooperative with me lately, so I hadn't decided what kind of haircut to get and really needed to bounce ideas for potential haircuts with someone who had expertise. DING. Oscar to the rescue! He was really kind, outgoing, and fun to talk to, but also very knowledgeable in his recommendations, broke his explanations down into easy-to-understand concepts, and was extremely patient when I asked my billion questions. His level of customer service was out of this world, as he adjusted my haircut to cut "one inch, okay maybe one more inch..." and worked on my hair till 30 minutes after closing time! I've gotten lots of compliments in my hair in LA and (still) feel so happy with my haircut! I definitely recommend Oscar, hands down, and will be coming back again! read more

I called in the morning and got a 2:30 appointment. At 2:30, I was told the very next station available was for me. It took an hour to free up a station, and soon as I was ready, a woman and her daughter came in and was seated ahead of me. I asked what was going on and was told she was a loyal customer and she had called in ahead of me. How ironic though, her name wasn't even on the list. When I asked if this is how they treated their new customers, she said she didn't even care. She was extremely rude. I told her I would never return here or recommend this place to anyone, she responded with an I don't care. If you are a new customer, AVOID THIS PLACE and go somewhere where they treat their customer with respect. Their employees really need a lesson in customer respect. I won't be back. read more

I have to say, I'm impressed with one of the hairdresser name Nancy at Fantasic Sam. I have experience alot in life. She straight up got talent. I have travel from Guam,Virginia,New Jersey,Seychelles,Texas, NewJersey,Louisiana,New York City. An I have gotten my hair cut all theses places. But they never have made my hair look this amazing. I'm going to be sad, when I leave this city. She makes you feel comforable. That I could fall asleep. Some hairdresser that have cut my hair in other salon. I should have just walked out after walking in all around bad experience. I took my children in to get their hair cut on a Wednesday afternoon. The ladies seemed as if they were annoyed by our presence no conversations with my kids just silence. One of my children had a bit of tangles in her hair and the lady seemed like she didn't know what she was doing when trying to comb, then brush out her hair. It took her longer to try and comb out her hair then to cut it. Not very satisfied with the cut but it's not the worst and we really don't want to go back there. My other child's hair came out cute BUT WORST OF ALL and I'm 99.9 % sure she got LICE from there. They havent been around many people since school has been out. I called and asked if there is a manager or does everyone just do there own thing. The lady on the phone said what can I help you with she wouldn't tell me her name she just automatically said we don't have lice here. Then she gave the phone to the hairdresser that cut my child's hair and she basically said the same thing and she wouldn't have cut their hair if she had seen lice or knits. Well of course that's common sense! I was asking if they use the same brush for everyone and if they sanitize between customers and I just wanted to let them know. All in all bad customer service. We used to prefer them over supercuts but I guess I'll be looking for a hometown salon for my kiddos. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

The lady who buzzed my head was so RUDE. She talked to me like I was stupid and completely ruined my hair. She left so many long pieces and messed up behind my ear(picture). I don't even know what her name was but she looked like a tweaker. She was blonde and kind of old. I don't recommend coming here. I also called before hand and they said the wait was 39 minutes but when I got there less than 10 min after I called there was nobody there. She also cut my sideburns which I didn't even ask for and just did whatever shape she wanted on my neckline. Horrible experience. read more

Sarah gave my daughter a pixie haircut I showed her pictures from her previous cut and she seemed to disregard them. She was not friendly at all. She washed her hair with one hand while totally distracted and between going to the back to eat she gave my daughter a horrible cut. She poked her in the eye more than once was rough while combining and pulling at her hair. I asked her twice to fix the back and the picture I posted says it all. She also charged me $17 while I don't know how much a kids wash and cut should have been its not posted nor did she tell me I saw that other people posted they paid $14 maybe they raised the price but they need to raise the standard as well. read more

Second review I write, 2 years later. Decided to give it another chance and got disappointed again. My husband got a haircut and we thought everything looked fine until we got home and took a closer look.. Horrible!! So ridiculously uneven!! It was unbelievable. I took my son and his father to get a haircut , a mid aged lady that had cigarette smoking wrinkles on her face attended my son this past Saturday , she was rude and kept moving my 3 yr olds head very heavy, fast and kept pulling him and yelling at him to do this and do that , UMM LADY HES ONLY 3 !! At one point I had to finish her sentence to ask my son to do these things with a please at the end and she felt the vibe and kind of cooled it . Luckily his father had a better experience with a nice older lady with light brown hair and a pleasant attitude. I will NOT be going back , the wrinkly lady was so upset since she claimed "it hasn't stopped all day " meaning they were busy but she kept yelling as if she was angry . The person who cut my hair just could not get it right. She didn't even wash my hair evenly because she is so right-hand dominant. I used to go to Fantastic Sams, but I'm going to stay away from this location. I went back and asked for my hair to be corrected. The manager took over. The girl didn't even have the guts to apologize to me and hid in the back of the store until I left. I will not be going back. read more

I had the worst customer service during a haircut today. There were four stylists around one client when I walked in. Sarah was friendly when she initially greeted me and told me that one of the other stylists would help me. When she returned, she was upset and said she would cut my hair. She had an attitude the whole time, repeatedly scraping my face, scalp and ears with her comb. I accidently left my earrings in and she almost ripped them out. I quickly apologized and removed them. She didn't say a word. She didn't say anything to me throughout the process after I declined a shampoo (I had shampooed a few hours earlier) and said I just needed an inch taken off. At the end I apologized for making her cut my hair. She definitely didn't want to do it. I should have said something as soon as I knew something was wrong but I thought she would get into a better mood through the process of doing her job. This was hands down the worst hair cutting customer service experience ever. My scalp still hurts, I expect it will tomorrow morning as well. I left covered in hair, I just wanted to get out of there. My manners wouldn't allow me to not tip her, but I only tipped $2 on the $18 haircut. Half of my normal tip. I highly doubt I'll frequent Fantastic Sams again. There are plenty of other hair salons in the area. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. There is a worker named Silvia there, which I HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT go to! She is the worst. I was very polite when I came in to get a haircut and she rudely checked me in. After waiting over 30 minutes, with others who came in after me, getting called before me, I was finally called to her chair. She roughly washed my hair, spraying water in my face and snagging her long nails in my hair. After the abusive hair wash, it got worse. She sat me in her chair and did not bother to put a cape on me, she instead yanked a comb through my hair and threw the pieces of my hair she was done with over my shoulder, leaving my shirt soaked with water. Still hopeful, I told her to only take an inch off of my hair which was very long and hit my backside. She began cutting without any questions of how I wanted my hair and hacked off all of it!!! Leaving my hair at my shoulders! I am devastated at how I was treated here and will never be going back. read more
