My teenage son and I walked in after shopping a couple other stores. We had a bag with us. We walked in everyone is super friendly but I quickly notice 4 girls following me around everywhere I went. I thought maybe I'm wrong so I moved around the store and sure enough all girls would be anywhere I moved. It was very awkward for me and completely ruined my shopping experience. Ulta does not value customer satisfaction and employs subpar hair stylists. Elizabeth, a stylist at Ulta cut 6 inches off my hair instead of the 1 inch I asked her to. I couldn't tell because she cut it off the back not the front. I had below shoulder length hair and she ended up giving me an uneven bob with an uneven 5 inch layer of hair that looks like a mullet. In this day an age a bad hair cut can sometimes be temporarily corrected with extensions. Elizabeth and Ulta management opted to give me a refund rather than correct the damage done with extensions. An ethical, skilled stylist and business establishment will go above and beyond to provide customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, Elizabeth lacks the ethics and skill required to provide satisfactory services and Ulta simply does not care to. Seeing is believing, just look at the photos I've provided. read more

I came in on a whim after shopping at a nearby store. I figured I might grab some things I needed. I really wish I would've gotten the name of the sales person because she honestly needs a raise. First of all, I am a makeup novice to say the least. She was not only friendly, helpful but patient when I repeatedly couldn't remember brand names I liked in the past. After I tried to find my shade of foundation, the tester bottle had jammed and I accidentally squirted it all over my shirt. When she noticed, she came back over to get me products to remove it so it wouldn't stain my shirt. Then she sat me down and helped me find the right shade (aka saved me from myself). She also showed me some other great products without up selling it in an obnoxious pushy type of way. I overheard her say that she had been working there since it opened or soon after? I'm just mentioning that in case the GM or whoever reads this and gives her a raise or a promotion or something because she was an amazing employee. read more

I find it unfair for people to give harsh reviews for this store. It has been opened for what only a month now? We all knew it would be a high theft store. I understand if employees make you feel uncomfortable if they're "staring" at you for long. But they're just doing their jobs. They know Lompoc. They know the clientele. They know what goes on. I went there on the first soft opening day and I saw security stickers left behind. Meaning someone stole testers. This is the first impression the customers left to the employees. It was literally the first day and they already had stolen testers. They're not singling you out because they think you're a criminal. They are just following managements protocol. You could be a rich white woman flashing a $1000 bag with $100 dollar bills taped all around it and the employees will still "stare" and "follow" you lol. So ease up on them. Also not all Ulta stores carry the same products and they having no saying what gets shipped to them. I know if they don't have a product in stock they can order it and ship it to you. Staff are very helpful. So much so that I got asked 8x in 10 minutes while I was there if I was doing ok and if I needed anything. I couldn't even shop in peace. You cannot try on any makeup which is understandable because they are following COVID regulations. I just got what I needed and left. You know, I promised myself some time ago that I would not post any more 'one star' reviews...but then something terrible happens. Ulta is terrible, well actually, their customer service is terrible. We have a "Ulta Beauty" credit card that we use here at the store and online for orders, but recently we've had problems with the card, and their customer service folks don't care! Or they lie to you or they are incapable of doing their jobs properly. Not sure which is true. First we had a problem with a late payment charge. We called the credit card company and discussed the issue with their customer rep, and she assured us that no fee would be charged. We'd sent the full payment to them in plenty of time for it to arrive, but the mail swallowed it for about 10 days...when it finally arrived, it was "late" and we were charged a penalty after being assured that we would not. Then more recently we discovered two fraudulent charges on our account made by some crook somewhere. After initiating a claim with Ulta the first charge (a lower amount) was forgiven, but the second criminal action was not forgiven. It was for $140 to AirB&B and they said that charge was "examined" or researched or whatever, and then denied. Please understand, dear readers, NOBODY in our entire family has ever used AirB&B nor have we traveled anywhere in the last 2-plus years because of the pandemic. Maybe Ulta uses a third party credit company to run their credit card business, but even if they do that does not matter. It is all still the same company, and the bottom line is that the Ulta credit card sucks. Their customer service process is unfair and idiotic, and the people are impossible to deal with. Don't ever get their credit card and don't bother calling customer service because they won't believe you and they won't help you. read more

Just like another reviewer stated! They follow you around like you're some kind of criminal! Here is the same review I left for their Google page. Came to visit my family for the week and decided to drop in on a Sunday. Upon entering, my sister and I were greeted by the cashier in the front. As we began browsing around, two employees kept coming back and forth asking us if we needed help and even though we said no each time, they were relentless. At that point it became annoying because it felt as if they thought we were going to steal something and also seemed like they were just following us around to make sure we wouldn't. Maybe because I was carrying a huge tote? But it was a damn LV and I'm freaken 8 months pregnant. I can afford to buy things and I'm not trying to run away from someone whilst pregnant, let alone go to jail! But one of the two employees seemed to be keeping an extra close eye on us the whole time. She stood next to us for a long minute by the brow bar and just stared at us before she even asked us if we needed help - which I found very weird because she made it so obvious that she was following us and keeping tabs for nothing. That same employee followed us to the checkout line and as we were browsing through the little travel sized items at the front, she just stood there and continued to stare...did not like the atmosphere here at all. Made us feel like criminals the whole time we were there and we ended up spending about $200 on products. So, I don't get the deal. I understand, Lompoc is not the same as it used to be but to be singling us out like that? I don't appreciate it at all. Glad I don't live in Lompoc anymore and that I have many other Ulta's to choose from that won't make me seem like a damn criminal. *** And to the person who thinks we should give this business a break, it's one thing to just be "staring" maybe from afar but when they are literally standing next to you and just watching, practically stalking you while you shop throughout most of your duration in the store, that is completely different. When did stalking customers become protocol? I have never felt this way in any other store before. Their actions even had my sister questioning me about it before I even said anything to her. my 2nd time in this store today 9/1/22. A week ago I bought a styling brush be revlon. the sign said $59.95 but when I went to pay I was charged a higher price $69. the girl at the register would not go check the price or modify it. I purchased it anyway. I was in the store today to return it. I found a product , face clenser, and when I went to buy it it also rang up at a higher price. i did not make the pruchase. this will be my last time in that store. the people that work there are rude and uncaring. read more

I was very excited to visit this Ulta since it is in my town. When I arrived I was greeted by a nice sales lady. However this particular Ulta isn't fully stocked . It had two Colour Pop eyeshadows and a Milani display with no Milani makeup . All the Estée Lauder Double wear makeup was in shambles . Also this Ulta is not going to carry MAC . Just thought I'd write a quick review. The Lompoc store, and staff are AWESOME! Every time my son and I go in, we are treated with respect, kindness lots of smiles and classy customer service. I mean, EVERYTIME! All the young ladies and men that help us are always so knowledgeable, and professional always making wonderful suggestions. I have never felt like I have been watched or made to feel uncomfortable at all. We have gotten suggestions on hair products, cologne, perfumes and Makeup. Their salon did a beautiful job on my sons hair. He was super pleased! They're all great at what they do, and it shows(You can really tell they love what they do). I love going to this store and always leave happy and feeling nice about the products I have purchased. I must not forget, this is one of the cleanest and most organized stores I have been to and I have been to a few. You will be pleased with the staff and your shopping experience. So we went this is Ulta store to check out some things and while our time there we were being ask so many times the same question over and over again sometimes even by the same person and the kept on following us and it made us really uncomfortable and then one of them who kept on asking us the same question was asking us if me and my friend came to the store last week (keep in mind she was a white lady with blond hair) and we told her no we came like 2 weeks ago and then she tried to accuse us of stealing a Marc Jacobs perfume and a bronzer pallet keep in mind she was asking me and my other friend (we're both white passing) and we were with our other friend who hasn't been out the whole summer cause she wasn't able too and then she started accusing and saying that is was my other friend who hasn't been out all summer which doesn't make any sense since she was blaming us and she tried to threaten us saying that they caught us on camera and she also had the audacity to call my white passing friend honey and saying she was blaming her and was RACIALLY PROFILING my friend and we got so uncomfortable and left that place read more

One of the staff members made us feel really uncomfortable while trying the makeup. In the total of five minutes that we were there she followed us around and kept asking us if we needed help every minute. I appreciate her trying to help, but one time is good enough. We won't go there for a while. The Santa Maria location leaves you alone and let's you enjoy your time. I also came in to look at a couple of things, I got some advice from one of the ladies about some Mascara everything was fine. This store is new to Lompoc and it's very sad to see the negative comments. I have been in weekly and I always receive the best service. You can tell the staff there truly wants to help customers find what they are looking for. I have encountered different associates and managers and they are all so positive and knowledgeable. Yes this is a new store with new staff so they won't know everything but they definitely will try to get you the answers. It is a very organized store and it is unfortunate for the real shoppers who shop here because this store gets so many looky loos who want to come in and look and play with every single item they have on display, make a mess and then complain it's messy. I have been in the store when someone was caught attempting to steal so please people stop ruining someone good that came to Lompoc! I really wanted to write a review because whenever I am in there the other customers that are in there with me and happy, they are being helped by the staff because they need to find their color of makeup or have a question and it's always been a positive experience and to see the negative reviews in my opinion is not fair and it is definitely not what I experience and I am sorry that anyone has had a bad experience but it is retail like we are humans. I always have a awesome shopping experience at Ulta Beauty!! I'm so happy Lompoc has an Ulta Beauty. This new location is very clean and organized every time I go in. The staff is absolutely amazing and friendly. Staff never skips a beat to make sure they say hello and if I need help finding anything with a beautiful smile. Always do have question about product and always make sure I walk out satisfied. The store manager is so amazing ! She has a great team!!
