It's been a long time that I have not tried Fantastic Sam on Pass. Tired of paying overpriced hair cut, color and blow drying I decided to re visit Fantastic Sam on Pass again. The minute I entered the salon, I was greeted with friendly ladies as if I was going back to my long lost relatives house :) They are all super nice. The lady who did my hair her name was Marieta. Now I'm sure as anyone I also get very nervous when it comes to my hair. Marieta was sooo sweeeeet, she LISTENED what I wanted, and with her professional skills made it happen. I got a hair cut and root coloring, and a blow dry, better price than what you pay in overpriced salon, and actually got better results. Got a lot of compliments. My 87 yr old mother went for a hair cut. Her is very long and needed just a trim. She didn't even get her hair washed or a style just quickly dried it so she didn't have to leave with a wet head. It took less than 10 minutes because that's how short her hair was to begin with and they charged her $35. No wash or blow dry style. Instead of a senior discount she got the senior RIPOFF price. Have been going here for years. Missed the last couple of years due to real life! Went today for a haircut. Yes, my hair was long and I wanted it a lot shorter. As usual, the stylists are pleasant and the place is clean. However, I was surprised to hear that the haircut was $35.00, if I wanted a blow dry, it was an additional $35.00!!! IMO, that's too high a price for this type of hair salon. I decided on just the haircut and I would let Mother Nature take care of the drying. Bring your wallet as there is a big sign that they prefer cash. I'm not saying this is a bad place to go, I'm just saying beware of the price. read more

OMG! I nearly fainted when I saw the salon prices here in town. Who's paying "starting" $430 for haircut and highlights! Not me, that's for sure. My hair grows at lightning speed! That'd be like throwing money into a furnace. So I looked around further on the web and was surprised to see Fantastic Sams. I was so excited that I picked up the phone to call for an appointment. The woman said, "Oh sweetie, we don't take appointments, it's walk ins!!" I grabbed a book, raced over, put my name on the list and waited. I didn't wait too long, maybe a half an hour. It was a treat to watch these ladies do their regulars. Lots of older men and ladies getting their fix. The woman with the most even highlights I had ever seen in my life took me to her chair. "Alright, sweetie what would you like." I told her partial highlights around my face and an inch trim with long layers. She did it exactly! She asked if I would become a regular and with no hesitation I told her, you'll be seeing me in 8 weeks!! My total was $100. So if you're into hairstylist that give you exactly what you want and you don't want to pay half a grand for it, this place is where it is at! read more

I went to the nail shop next door to get eyebrow waxing they said they had no one in at the time. They recommended me go over fantastic sams because it's the same owner. So I went asked if there was someone could do eyebrow waxing. The woman said yes and took me to the area where you get your hair washed. Most uncomfortable place to get eyebrow waxing ever. Then she waxed my eyebrows terribly never waxed the front never cut them she did the most horrific job at eyebrow waxing you can imagine. and then after charge me $20 for the terrible job. Well, I had been going there for about 15 years and my usual stylist wasn't there. So another lady cut my hair and she had the warmth of block of ice. I was very friendly and she was just short and to the point. Then when my payment was due I was presented with their coupon for $2 off. Which I then apply to the tip. The last time I was there the stylist skipped over the $2 off box and stamped the one after it and said I can use the $2 off next time. This time, the other stylist (manager I think) said they don't apply discounts even if they were missed the last time. Well... how does no money sound because I'm taking my business elsewhere? I told the woman at the desk what we came for and she said "we're closed!" in a sharp voice. Mind you, the door was open, and she waited for me to ask for a cut before she told me that. When you trust your hairdresser, it's not a big deal to go 5 extra miles for their service. I feel like Gina knows my hair and gives me the best recommendation on color and hair style. She is honest about what style and color works for me and what doesn't. She just did my bangs and fixed my hair color and I received so many compliments from friends and coworkers. My sister gets her hair cut here and she recommended this place so I decided to get my hair dyed for the first time! I had Gina dye my hair and she was so friendly and professional! I showed her pictures of the hair color I wanted and she kept that in mind as she gave me her personal opinion on what would suit my face. My natural hair color is black so I went there expecting them to bleach it first but Gina did an amazing job without bleaching which helped keep my hair shiny and soft. She was sarcastic and mean when I asked her to fix it. She attacked my character, insulted me and told me if I didn't like it, I should take it up with her manager. They ruined my hair. In hindsight, I should have trusted my gut and run like hell. First of all, this place is run by Armenian women who talk amongst themselves in Armenian, have a rude 'tude, and actually point at customers while gossiping in a foreign language. They speak English to customers, but you can barely understand them, so communication is difficult at best. Still, I thought I'd be safe for a basic root touch up. Long blonde hair, dark roots, sounds like a no-brainer, right? WRONG. It took the woman almost 20 minutes to mix the color. Then she applied it and left me sitting in the back while she worked on two more customers. When she went to rinse me out, she had a look of horror on her face and said she had to run to the back room for something. I asked if something was wrong. She said no, that I had dry ends, and she was getting a "deep conditioner." She came back and applied something to my head, rinsed it, then applied the conditioner and stuck me under the dryer for "ten minutes." That ten minutes turned into thirty while she continued to take more walk-ins. By the time she finally rinsed me for the last time I been there for nearly two hours. I told her not to cut or dry me because I was running late. At that point she got belligerent and in my face about missing out on a special offer by not getting the haircut, and that the color would now cost me more. And oh, surprise, the conditioning treatment was a $10 service, something I wasn't informed of in advance. When I got home and started to dry my hair ... OMG ... OMG ... my roots were a dark greenish brown color. My blonde hair was now capped with a good three inches of this heinous dark green/brown. To top it off, my hair was so fried that it looked like I had stuck my finger in a socket. I wore a hat for two days before going to a proper salon and paying a colorist $150 to try and repair the damage, which included cutting off a significant amount of badly damaged hair. Long story short, do not walk, RUN from this place. I'm sure they'd do a decent job on you if you happen to be an old Armenian woman, but anyone else, YOU. WILL. BE. SORRY. read more

Ok so to preface- I haven't been to a fantastic Sam's in YEARS... probably not since college, which it's been over 10 years. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I've come to trust the fancier salons a little bit more. However this particular place far exceeded my expectations. I just needed a quick color for an upcoming photoshoot to cover the grays haha, and just wanted something cheap so I thought I'd give it a shot. I need to give a huge shoutout to Marieta there. She is the sweetest person and did an amazing job on the color. Literally gave me exactly what I asked for and the color was an exact match to what I have right now. Please ask for her if you can when you go there you won't be sorry! Like she is one of those people you just wanna talk to more and just trust. Great service. The only thing I will say is just know that the services/pricing don't always match what's on the website so just be aware. Plan on spending a little more if you're get it more than one service. Other than that really great for a budget color I wouldn't have known the difference had I gone to a fancier salon honestly. Go visit Marieta and give her all the tips please! The cuts are fine, I mean, what do you expect at these prices. They earn only one star and this bad review because they lie about what they give you for said small price. My husband and I go here for his haircuts because he's a guy and there's only so much you can do for a cut. We usually go here because it's close. For the past few times, they have lied to us and not given us what we paid for. The Sam's Cut specifically states a shampoo, conditioner, rinse and cut. They only give the cut part and mumble when we ask for a shampoo. "Well, we could, but..... It's the same price with or without it," was the response we got tonight. The impression I get is that they are lazy and don't want to actually work for what was advertised. Sadly, it IS the cheapest cut and it's incredibly local when we don't want to make appointments or spend a lot of time. I will be sure next time, though, to ask up front that they actually provide the services that we paid for before we sit in the chair. read more

Scammers at 343 N. Pass Ave in Burbank, Fantastic Sam's, absolutely the worst haircut and color my mother has ever had, when we walked in Annette quoted us a price of $65 for color and $29 for cut. At the end she informed my mom that if she wanted it styled it would be more, mom who is on a fixed budget said no. As we are getting ready to pay, Annette said it would be $5 more because mom had shoulder length hair, she was shaking us down for more money, so it is $70 not $65. I informed her that on their website there is a $10 coupon off if you spend more than $70 she stated that it was not for their store, and it was not in their system. She finally gave us the $10 off so we paid a grand total of $94 including the $5 tip. Well, if you saw my mother's hair you would think it was done by a child. Her hair is uneven, and the color is so bad that now we are going to spend more money to have an experienced stylist correct it. My mom says she will never go back not in a million years. The owner was supposed to have called me according to Annette and I have yet to hear from anyone. Beware these are Con artist; they quote one price and when you are ready to pay, they charge you a higher amount!! Don't spend your hard-earned money there. Why do you have a pricelist of services next to the cash register, but you don't use it when you ring up the total?? I thought I was going to be charged $21.95 for a wash, cut & blow dry for my 9 year old daughter, but when you are ringing it up, you tell me the pricelist is wrong and it's actually $27.95. I could tell there was no point arguing, and I didn't want to look like a cheap ass in front of the people waiting. I've had a couple of quick trims here myself, and they seem to do the same thing every time. And every time, I tell myself I shouldn't go there again.
