The spa and gift shop were clean, tidy and inviting. I was brought back rather quick for my massage. The whole facility appeared fresh and clean. The massage was great and I was in the couple's massage room although it was just me. The other table was unoccupied. The female masseuse (I forgot her name at this point) did a good job and made me feel comfortable the entire process. If I was back in the area I would visit again. He was extremely professional, getting an understanding of what I was looking for (neck, shoulders, etc) and really customizing it for me. I got the 60 min with CBD oil and he included scraping in it! Scott was great about checking in, asking if I was comfortable with certain things especially as a male massage therapist with a female client. It was extremely respectful and professional. And best of all, the message was amazing! It was swedish but still firm where it needed to be and super focused on my problem areas. Overall the front desk was also very nice and professional, the interior is really pretty, booking online was easy, and they had water and a mint waiting for me when I was done! Being a massage therapist myself, I am rather picky about massages and usually leave other places disappointed. This was absolutely NOT the case here! Bri gave a wonderful deep tissue prenatal massage, safely and securely. She hit all of the necessary spots that needed attention. The office and procedure area were not clean, which is concerning for any kind of skin treatment. My appointments were canceled on me multiple times with little notice. On one visit, they didn't have the proper equipment to do my procedure and never called to tell me before I showed up. During my treatment, staff brought in other people to train on me without ever asking my permission or informing me beforehand -- a serious privacy and consent issue. I paid for a package of four procedures and they only completed three. The whole experience was disorganized, and staff were impolite and unprofessional. If you're looking for a med spa in Astoria, shop around and find another location. Cheapest isn't always best -- you get what you pay for.
