Warning Fancy Pets Groomer Injured Cat I took my cat (Bagheera M1y) to the grooming salon Fancy Pets Grooming Boarding & Day Care located at Regal Center 870 S Sun Drive Suite 1042 Lake Mary FL 32746 on Friday evening at 4.30 PM for a bath. When I picked him up, I asked them if everything went well and they did not report anything to me. I paid the bill and a decent tip and got him home that's when I noticed his energy was down & he was hobbling . Upon closer inspection I noticed almost all nails on his hindlegs were bleeding (pics below). He was also shedding whiskers. I stopped the flow and rushed him to the urgent vet immediately who examined him. She confirmed that the nails were cut badly and one of them was splintered. She also mentioned that he shed whiskers because of the stress/trauma he went through at the salon. He was administered 2 shots for antibiotics and anti inflammatory and given 3 day dosage at home. He is currently in a collar for a week until all injuries are healed and currently not eating very well. It is heartbreaking to watch him hurt and in pain. I called the business on Saturday morning to explain the situation. Instead of offering a courtesy of empathy, one of the owners Manny Santiago denied that any such thing could have taken place. He refused to believe the mountain of evidence I emailed him along with the vet bills, medicines and nail pictures etc. The owner has not bothered to call me inspite of my repeated requests. They refused to re-imburse the vet expenses or their own grooming fees and have ghosted me. Do NOT use this business as they are extremely unprofessional and also do not care about the animals more than their bottom line. I hope no other fur baby or pet parent goes through this. read more

The owner (male) contacted me recently by phone to apologize for the problem that occurred when I had my dog groomed there. He put a lot of blame on the groomer that day and said that they had had multiple issues with her (seems like they should have done something sooner if that was the case). It has been months since I posted my original review! A bit late to do quality control. He said that he'd just seen it and wanted to offer me a free groom. I appreciate the very late customer service but considering the way my dog acted when I last picked her up from them (shaking and wet herself), I declined. I gave this place three chances and the third time was a nightmare. Leading up to the third time, a little history. Years ago, the owner drove by as I was walking my dog, practically begging for me to bring my dog for grooming, as they had just opened. I don't like the 'door to door' selling style, so I laughed it off. I ended up trying them a few years later. I called and made an appointment, showed up for the appointment and no appointment was made.. Betty, the owner, said she would groom her, but then ended up having to leave. They squeezed my dog in for that day and they called me several hours later to say she was ready. They charged me $90 and I said I was only paying $65 at my other groomer who had retired. They agreed to charge me $75. The second appointment was a mess. They got my dog confused with another dog. They cut the other dog short and my dog basically just had a 'blow out'. I had to leave her again and they groomed her the way I wanted. The third appointment I had requested Caroline. I showed up for the appointment and the owner (the easily rattled lion with the fury of a marine) kept asking me how I wanted my dog groomed. After several minutes of telling him that Caroline knew, he finally said she had quit 5 minutes earlier and Betty would be grooming her. I said, 'you mean your wife?' and he said yes. He said they had gotten so many complaints about Caroline, that they were going to fire her anyway (very professional).They said she would be ready in three hours. 4 1/2 hours later, I called and they said to head that way. As I was heading that way, Betty called and said she was ready. I said I knew that already, as I had just called. When I get there to pick up my dog, Betty comes out and starts yelling and asking why I was so miserable. I explained all of the issues and another 'cult customer' came in and starting yelling at me also. The timid sheep of an owner asked me to leave. When I got home, I saw that Betty had shaved off a small mole on my dog's neck and it was bleeding and scabbing and bleeding for weeks. It has now grown back into an infected area after several weeks and will have to be surgically removed. I did not call and tell them because of the horrible experience I had. I'm sure the timid, bumbling sheep will have a nice response, because in previous reviews I see that they NEVER are to blame. read more

I have been taking my dog (he is a Maltese Yorkie mix) here now for 2 years and I can't believe it has taken so long for me to write a review. I have tried so many grooming places and this one is the best! What separates them from other places is the fact that they care! You can tell from the moment you walk in that they have a passion for animals. This place is immaculate and does not smell like "dog." I went out of town for New Year's Eve and found myself in a position where I needed to board my dog. I have never left him with anyone but family so I was very nervous. This place eased all of my anxiety. First of all, they do not crate the dogs. Second of all, the dogs get their own suite with a bed and blanket. They were even able to accommodate me by allowing me to leave my dog with my sister's dog in the same suite. The best part is that they post pictures and videos on Facebook. I had looking for a kind groomer since I moved to Fl and I found her!!! My schnauzer doesn't like to be groom and cut so no everyone can do it. Here on fancy pet they help me with this frustration. They are very servicial, they gave me a tour at the facility so I can see where and what they do for boarding and they let my schnauzer get comfortable around. The yard is spacious and they can also play. The best part for me is I found someone that can speak the same language to my dog as I do, she understand Spanish and follow rules and commands in Spanish. I bought my fur baby, Charlie, who is a Shorkie "part yorkie and Shih tzu" in for full grooming. We just recently moved back to Florida. I took him to one groomer here in Lake Mary prior to this and he had severe anxiety and was severely sick for a whole two week. He went from happy dog sleeping in his own bag in the living room to not wanting to be alone at night to having stomach issues. I never experienced this in Atlanta. I was really worried to get him groomed again and since he was only a year old. I did not want a bad impression to last 15 years and I even waited for his hair to get so long. But "fancy pets" they did an amazing job. He was very happy walking out of the groomer. He was not shaking, or crying. He is also acting like his happy self at home. AWFUL AND RUDE!! I brought my pomsky puppy to them for the first time about a month ago. I was very specific when I asked them to shave her whole bottom. I told the groomer that I know it will look funny but it grows back really fast. We even talked and laughed about it. She was very nice and so was the man up front who was really selling to me the reputation of Fancy Pets and how highly rated they are and he said "except for that one rating." I had never read about them before but could tell that they take their rating seriously. When I picked her up, the man brought her out to me, I paid and left. When I got home I realized they the groomer didn't at all do what I asked, she didn't even attempt to. I didn't call and didn't complain, I figured I would just talk to her next time I went in and make sure she did it right the next time. So I brought my pup for her second visit this week. Again the man up front was friendly and the groomer came out. I told her that last time I had asked her to shave the whole back side and she seemed as if she remembered. We again talked about it and I asked her not to do anything else, not to clip her or anything, just wash, shave her bottom, trim her nails and brush her teeth. When I arrived to pick her up, the man up front wanted me to pay before he went to get my puppy. I asked him I could see her first since last time they didn't do what I had asked. He instantly got frazzled and stormed to the back (his pants were hanging down so far I could see half of his but crack-super sloppy). When he brought my pup out, sure enough again she was not shaved on her bottom at all. I asked him why she wasn't shaved and that I had spoke with the groomer. He got extremely upset and told me that she was busy right now with a cat on her table. Another groomer heard him and offered to shave her bottom for me. She even invited me to come watch to tell her if it was short enough. I thanked her so much and she told me she totally understands why I shave her bottom. As we walked to the front, I asked the man (nicely) if I have to pay the full charge for the visit. He looked up at me and said "get out, just leave..get out of here" I was in SHOCK! I told him that I want to pay for my visit, I was only asking if I had to pay the full price because they messed up the first time I came and then again the second time. He told me that I don't need to pay and to just leave. I asked him why he was upset, I told him that I was never rude to him but I am highly offended by the way he is speaking to me. He went and got the groomer. She came out already on defense and I asked her why she didn't shave her bottom. Her response was "I have been doing this for 20 years, I know what I am doing" I told her that I have never been treated like this as a customer and I would never be coming back. She said "okay, thank you bye bye" I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. Clearly these people cannot accept making a mistake and if you question them, they mistreat you. I have a super fluffy puppy and everyone is always asking me where I groom her. I will make sure from now on to tell anyone and everyone who asks me, that I would NEVER recommend they take their animal to Fancy Pets. read more

I brought both my girls here today for the first time and I was not disappointed! Natalie was very attentive to how I wanted their haircuts, and she even took a picture of the ones I brought in to remember the example. She was very gentle with my dogs and I did not have any worries when I left. They were finished sooner than anticipated and my babies look great! Their cuts are very similar to what I asked for. My boys are not easy especially when it comes to their ears and paws but this staff does an exceptional job! I highly recommend them. They make your pets feel loved. The pricing is very reasonable considering most places tack on a bunch of fees and they bundle it in the regular cost. New owners have expanded to a second store front, that includes very nice cat and dog boarding facilities. Brian is friendly, patient, and fluent in English and needs frequent reminding of your pet's needs. Betty is friendly, caring, patient, knowledgeable about pet care, and fluent in Spanish. I left my two cats for shaving and a flea bath at 5PM @ $60 each. Maddow was greatly infested. Since we fogged our house we had to pay another $30 To board them overnight. We picked them up the next day. The shaving was thorough and consistent, with no cuts. They are fine. A vet appointment for Revolution flea treatment is next week. We understood this to be the right timing. Then we learned that the next day is best. Next time we will bring cats early, and a day before flea treatment. Then we can avoid boarding fees and hatching flea eggs. read more

What a joke! First time I tried them was today! NEVER AGAIN! I went to get my 2 toy poodles who had scheduled appointments to be groomed there. They had them since 11 a.m. and when I called them at 2:30 p.m. I was told that they would be ready in half an hour or so and that they would call me. Fair enough, no problem. They did call at 3:15 to tell me that they were ready to be picked up. I went in about ten minutes later, as we were shopping in the area. When we went in to get them, they brought out my chocolate poodle and handed him to me and then looked over and pointed to a holding area inside the waiting area where my other poodle was being "held". Surprise! Not my dog! They kept insisting that my dogs had been kept together and that she was mine!! Nope, not my dog, tail is too long, face is all wrong and she is the wrong color. My other toy is registered apricot poodle. One would believe that I would know my own dog, but no, they wanted me to take that one??!! (So, long story short, I could have easily left with someone else's dog, no questions asked). After several minutes of scrambling around in the back, in the grooming area, and telling me numerous times that they had several poodles in there, they appear with my Emily, ungroomed and gagging she is in so much stress. They then asked me to wait another 30 - 45 minutes so that they can "quickly" groom her. My response by this time, after being so relieved to have her in my arms, was that I was taking her with me NOW! I paid for Coco's grooming, and we left, period. Poor Emily was so upset with what had happened that she threw up all over the car and was panting and obviously distressed. This could have all been avoided if they had left their collars on (both mine have their names and address on them) and to make sure that the groomers are aware of who is together, and which dogs they are personally responsible for. P.S. I am sure that the real owner of the other dog was in for a big surprise when they saw that their (not a poodle) had been clipped in a summer poodle clip!! This was totally unacceptable, and I can only hope that any fur baby lovers that are thinking of using these groomers for the first time, rethink their decision!! read more

We have a 15 yr old Shih tzu, Precious, that we needed to board somewhere for 2 weeks while we were out of the country. I was extremely nervous leaving her anywhere for that long of a time period. At Fancy Pets, they do not keep them in a cage, rather a small private area that has a door on it. I was able to bring her bed and a few toys to make the transition easier. I started going to Fancy Pets about a year ago when my long time groomer/boarder changed owners. Like most pet people I'm looking for a place my pet will be happy going to. My 11 y.o. I have recently adopted a rescue senior pup who was badly abused and super afraid of everyone. I took her for her first visit and was super nervous as I wasn't sure how she would react and handle it. I could not recommend pet groomers (and owners) more than Pete and his wife Miriam. All our dogs (which usually includes a foster dog or two) cannot wait to get their spa day or puppy play date. I have been bringing our dogs here since they were at the center next door and would follow them anywhere. The fact their dogs are so happy and friendly is just a dead giveaway the owners will care as much for my dogs as they do their own. They are truly fabulous!! read more
