I helped my elderly mother purchase a cat from this breeder. She paid $1,000, the published price for a 6 year old female who had multiple litters. The cat had wicked bad breath, and when we took her to the veterinarian, we discovered the cat had 10 rotted teeth that needed removal anesthesia costing $2,500. When my mother called the breeder to report the finding, she said she would take the cat back, but that my mother had already gotten a discounted price and would not assist with the cost of the necessary dental care. The cat is an otherwise lovely and gentle animal, who is now receiving good medical care. I am moved to write this as I think people considering purchasing from Wendi be mindful that perhaps her cats are not receiving proper medical care and she will unlikely negotiate on price if they need care. read more

I guess I should have written this review a while ago. We got our female Exotic Shorthair back in 2013. She has been very healthy the entire time. Still healthy to this very day. This breed of cat is awesome. Very mild. Sleeps almost all the time. I thought it might shed a lot but it really doesn't. Not sure who that person with the one star review is but they obviously signed a contract. All pet sales are like that these days. Sorry. Wendi is running a business. Too bad that you couldn't get a cat because of your reasons. This is a fantastic breed of cat. It's that one star person's loss. read more

I got a 1-year-old cat from this Breeder after my baby was killed by coyotes. I was really anxious to have a new sweet kitty that needed a home. When I arrived at the breeder's home all the kitties were out but I had responded that I had only been interested in the 1-year female short-hair exotic. Her name was Jazzy and she was terrified of everything. But the breeder assured me that this wasn't typical for her. She hadn't trimmed her claws or prepared her for my visit. She literally was chasing the cat around both the kitchen and living room because the cat was terrified of the process. Further, she involved me in this process and the cat ripped my leg drawing lots of blood. She and her husband finally trapped the cat behind the couch and as terrified as she was she was placed in the travel carrier. During all of this, the breeder attempted to move my interest to one of the kitties, which was at a higher cost. However, we caught the cat and we were going through the paperwork she assured me that this wasn't the cat's temperament and it was good she was leaving as the next week they were completely remodeling their home. I felt sorry for the cat and believed if I provided her with a safe quiet environment she would come around. But she never did. Both of us were very depressed after a month. And it was clear that this wasn't a cat that should be by herself as she had been around the other cats in the house for over a year. Oh, and the reason she was being sold as the breeder deemed her unbreedable was because she only weighed 3 pounds. After a month my son came and took her to his home where he had just adopted another cat. That cat helped my cat to learn how to be comfortable and after 6 months those two cats had a good relationship. Based on this breeder's experience I believe that she totally mis-lead me regarding the cat. But since I felt sorry for that cat and it is a runt I wouldn't place her back in that environment. also, I learned that they don't take their cats to the vet as they do all their vaccinations at home, and although the cat wasn't a breeder she wasn't fixed either. So, bottom line, go elsewhere for your forever Cat. read more

I am so incredibly happy I met this fabulous cat breeder Wendi S. at fancyfriends. I currently have 3 of her cats and kittens, and in about 9 days, I will receive my 4tb. These kittens are hand raised under foot, and are so loving, socially acclimated, healthy and well tempered, I could not even imagine getting another cat or kitten anywhere else. I have personally seen her conviction in breeding only the best of the breed. So much love, time and attention is given to make not only the most beautiful kittens but the greatest detail goes into their loving and sweet temperaments. I highly recommend Wendi and Fancyfriends.com but only if you can give back the love and attention these cats and kittens deserve. You will naturally want more. read more

My husband and I were looking for a special kitten to add to our family. We had one for 17 years that we had to put down due to terminal illness not long after our daughter was born. 3 years later, our daughter is simply in love with cats, from Halloween costumes, to Aristocats (the movie) and countless stuffed versions in her bed every night. So, we thought it was time to bring one back into our family.  After a telephone conversation with Wendi, we drove up to visit one particular kitten the very next day because she told us how many other people were interested in him. We had a nice conversation and played with multiple cats and were drawn to that one in particular, which apparently had someone willing to purchase him from Northern CA if we didn't. My daughter was in heaven, but we also noticed she was a bit rough and jumpy around them (as toddlers can be...). My husband took her outside to get some fresh air and gave me the green light to follow through on purchasing a kitten. So, I stayed inside with Wendi and signed a contract and gave her $1,000 deposit (half the total cost of the kitten). The kitten was not quite ready to come home with us, and Wendi was going to be in Hawaii for a month, during the time that he could. So, it was about 5-6 weeks out before she would release him.  My husband instantly had some trepidations about my daughter's behavior around the kittens, and when we got home we did further research online about introducing kittens into a family with a toddler. Sadly, the more we read, we found out that toddlers and kittens can spell out a bad situation for the kitten's development. We decided we needed to call Wendi back as soon as possible, and let her know that we decided it best to wait another year or two before bringing one of her kittens into our family. We let her know ASAP so she could sell the kitten to one of the many other people interested.  Of course our daughter was pretty heartbroken, but Wendi understood and ultimately agreed that she would reimburse us the $1,000 once she sold the kitten to another party. We were very thankful and felt that she understood our intentions were good, and we knew that we would come back to Fancy Friends and buy a kitten when the time was right. We gave her our address to send the check and stood by. The kitten was immediately placed back on the Fancy Friends website, then after a few days removed. We assumed it had sold very quickly, but knew that Wendi was going to Hawaii, so gave her some time to get the check out to us. After 3 months of no check and not hearing a word from Wendi we reached out to her. She only then informed us that she decided to trade the kitten with a cat breeder friend instead of selling the kitten outright and had already used our deposit to purchase another kitten from Germany, and wouldn't be reimbursing our $1,000. She threw out a couple options to placate us after we were shocked by her actions, including applying the deposit for a kitten in the future, but we were just so tainted by her deceptive behavior we couldn't see trusting her to follow two years from now, nor could we see giving her another $1000. Of course, she had no legal obligation to pay us back the money (we did sign a contract), but she also told us (in a text) that she fully intended to pay us back the $1,000. And AFTER 3 MONTHS of us looking in the mailbox for a check, she acts as if trading him is some kind of loophole? Why didn't she communicate that to us BEFORE she made the trade? Or communicate with us AT ALL?   Clearly she set up a win win for herself, and as far as I'm concerned she basically made $1,000 for talking to our family briefly for one afternoon. She showed very poor character and business practice by misleading us with her intentions, even though the entire reason we backed out was for the sake of the kitten. Needless to say, we will not be adopting a kitten from Wendi in the future! read more

My wife and I have had the privilege of having 2 wonderful and loving cats that came from Wendi and Fancy Friends when they were 6 weeks old and that was 12 years ago. We love Fancy Friends! Our first cat, Lulu, was from Wendi and she brought such joy to our lives. She was friendly and affectionate and lovely. When she passed we were devastated. Fortunately, when we decided to get another kitty, Wendi had another kitty available. We just brought him home and we are delighted! He's fun, cheerful and super affectionate. I have had a great experience with Fancy Friends, love our cat and often telephone for advice, which is always graciously given and very helpful,since I have not owned cats before. While writing this review I saw the poor review from "Stacey K" which seemed so out-of-line that I spoke to them about it. Seems this person never even bought a cat from them and in fact cleaned up their place of business until she disappeared without notice. Guess she is a disgruntled employee trying to settle a score, because my feeling is they deserve 5 stars! read more

All 3 of my precious boys are from Fancy Friends. I am in Canada so each time I have bought a kitten from Fancy Friends (2015, 2016, 2017) I have flown home with a kitten in the cabin with no issues and have had no problems at all clearing Canadian Customs. All 3 are beautiful, loving, adorable and healthy with the best personalities one could ask for! Even people who aren't 'cat people' fall in love with my boys because of their beauty and sweet dispositions. Fancy Friends isn't your usual cattery either - kitties run around freely and are all treated like family!
