The lobby is pretty, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The rooms are quiet and provide all the necessities one could need. My husband arrived early from NYC and was able to check in a few hours before I arrived from another country, which we really appreciated. The room itself was nice, with crisp bedding, and it felt clean overall. However, our bathroom trash had not been emptied from the previous guests. It actually made me smirk because everything else was so well done, but it did make me wonder about quality checks. I also found the linoleum floors practical, though I didn't love the echo or hollow sound they create. Carpets feel cozier, but I understand that hard floors are much easier to maintain and disinfect. Overall, I would definitely stay here again in the future. Cheers from NYC.

There was only one staff person available which was ridiculous given the number of reservations. After we finally checked in, there was no one around to tell us how to find our room and there were no signs pointing the way (down a hall, outside and across a courtyard, inside and up two flights of stairs.) We did not get the room we paid for but there was not a staff person to be found the rest of the day to ask about it. This was such a painful start, in retrospect we should have just left. Other issues: staff was not knowledgeable about how to navigate public transportation and told me to look it up on my phone. I of course had already tried without success so that was unhelpful. Also unhelpful was housekeeping who, though generously tipped, did not fulfill requests for extra towels, refreshed kitchen cloths and spatula. Staff are at best amateur, when you can find them. There is very limited food and bar service (most european hotels can provide a small pot of coffee for two but to the young woman I asked it was a radical and unavailable concept.) The hotel generally seems to be unstaffed which is why I refer to it as a self-service hotel. Given the price-tag, it was a huge disappointment.

We had been on vacation in Israel for two weeks so we both had large suitcases. There was only two feet between the head of the bed and the TV wall and one foot on each side of the bed. With the two large pieces of luggage we had, the room was a fire hazard. We were constantly tripping over the luggage and each other. The bathroom was also tiny and the half shower flooded our floor each time we used it. The lights did not work properly and the max brightness was way too dark. No amenities at the hotel at all. We were charged 515 pounds a night for our tiny room! We found out that the Waldorf and Mayfair, two five star hotels were available for the same price. This hotel ranges on the Internet from $206 per night to $358. We paid around $550 for a shoe box room. We met two Brits on the roof bar who said the hotel is in a soft rollout, there were all kinds of deals available and we were paying too much. We were paying top pound for a shoe box. We spoke to a manager who waisted 30 minutes of our time going into the back to speak to someone. In America she would be considered a user car salesman. She offered to buy us breakfast but we were leaving the next day at 6am. My advice is look at any of the the other of the fabulous hotels in London. This one charged us top dollar with no value whatsoever.

The hotel is located in a heavily trafficked area but good news is there is a fantastic sunny breakfast area on the first floor--so you don't have to skedaddle in the a.m. looking around the hood--with everything from a cappuccino machine to yogurt, fresh breads, eggs, sausages, cheeses, pate, cereals, juices and fresh fruit. Near check in there is a convenient small cafe with pastries, bread, cake, small pizza, tea or coffee with an airy view and cute seating (picnic table style, indoor and out front.) Again, the staff is uber helpful! For example, they can answer geographic questions in detail --thank you, Dennis!--and sell tram tickets at the front desk. As far as accommodations--here we go, whatcha need to know!--the AC is minimal so expect to sweat a lot in your dorm sized room. The WiFi is ridiculously slow--if it works at all--at 4.5 (compared to 120 in Texas). There is no instruction sheet on how to set the thermostat or what time breakfast is at or if there is an ice machine (there isn't one, btw.) No hot pot or coffee mugs. No in room fridge. No tub (the photos online display one) but the small shower in your private bath is pretty decent. The bed IS comfy with large screen tv directly across on wall. Our view was an enclosed green space area with no access to the traffic or big city buildings--yay! Quite relaxing! So if you are wanting a hip place to chill with minimal amenities--but terrific free breakfast--this is the place for you! Hope this helps in your decision process! Photos included. Ciao!

I had low expectations regarding the rooms and that was a good thing, because my single room on 4th floor was simple. It had a desk and a chair in a rather sterile room that gave me a hostel feeling. The wall to wall carpet did not smell right either.. Other than the carpet, room was clean. So, why such a good rating then? Well, breakfast was nice, view from room was nice, it was cheap and located exactly where I needed. In other words, this place is awesome if you have not planned to stay much in the room. It's a short trip, one stop or 20 minutes walk to Mauer Park and Oderberger strasse or Kollwitzstr. Lots of lcoal stores nearby as well as pubs. So, even though my room was simple, everything else was splendid.

GIven the urban setting, it might not be for the unadventurous - the night entrance to the hotel is inside a very dimly lit garden. However, all other gates being locked and the restaurant next to the open gate makes for a very safe walk into the hotel. The single room I was assigned was very small, and had only European plugs. The LED TV did not have USB ports. There is no ventilation in the room save for the exhaust fan of the bathroom. However, even very close to summer the room was kept comfortable by opening the windows that look down into the garden and night entry. I generally recommend this hotel to folks looking for a decent rate, while not expecting very luxurious surroundings.
