Each year we go through the rigamarole of buying tickets to the shows we want to see at Frederik Meijer Gardens for our friends and family, and each year the website has some sort of malfunction partway through our order and we lose our entire cart. While I know these are just concerts and are not life-threatening situations, it is terribly frustrating that this website has not improved even a little bit in the many years they've been used. So so frustrated and wish this website would be user-friendly and functional.

In previous years, I have never been able to purchase pre-sale member tickets to more than one concert using my iPad. Had to re-start the entire process. Those of you that attempt to purchase Meijer Garden tickets know what a stressful experience this ALWAYS is. This year I was ready, or so I thought. Logged on to Star Tickets and made sure I had my account info up to date and credit card info entered. Finger hovering above the "purchase tickets" option, alarm goes off at 9:00 a.m. and I begin the process. I am logged out and cannot re-enter the Star Tickets site. My session has "expired". Repeatedly. Finally tried another computer and by 9:05 all the tickets to the concerts we wanted were sold out. What?!?!?! I never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather pay the fees at Ticketmaster than have to go through this with Star Tickets again. I guess Meijer Gardens doesn't really want to make their concerts available to their members or they'd switch their purchase policy to fewer than 8 tickets at a time and switch to a different ticket agent. Loyal members cannot compete with mass purchasers who buy out tickets in order to re-sell at exorbitant profits.

I took my nephew to a 3:40 movie at Celebration Cinema because I wanted him to experience watching…read morea movie in a theater with a recliner. I purchased our tickets in person and I was asked if I was part of their rewards program. I said that I thought that I was. I gave my phone number and was told that I wasn't in their system, but yet he didn't ask me if I wanted to sign up. After we got to our seats I went to their website to sign up for their rewards because I always take advantage of loyalty programs, and when I put my information in it said I was already a member. We went to the concession stand where I was informed that they were out of most of the beverages in the beverage station because they had been busy. My nephew then went to look at the candy selection and we struck out again. He wears braces and has a peanut allergy and there were no plain M&Ms or chocolate options without peanut butter, so we couldn't buy candy. When we got to our seats I was so shocked that I started laughing and took a picture before I sat down. The recliners are old and worn and worse than any furniture I have seen in people's homes. Thankfully my nephew enjoyed the movie (Elio).

The parking lot was pretty empty, though it was 2p on a Friday. Their restrooms seemed well kept, which is always nice. We got right in, got our popcorn and drink and off to find our seats. Great big comfy recliners with swinging trays for your snacks and drinks. It wasn't as loud as I remember which was a nice change. Great time!

I'm glad I got tickets online ahead of time, but they were still selling tickets at the door when we arrived about 20 minutes before the show. Memberships are only $15 and are good for the year. Membership gives you voting privileges for board seats as well as access to the bar at events. They sell some cocktails, beer, canned seltzers, and snacks. The theatre is historic and beautiful, and the seats were pretty comfortable. I will say it was a hot day and it got a tiny bit stuffy, but wasn't too bad. They show older movies and also have live music performances. I can't wait to come back to see more movies!

It ran a bit long, 3 hours with a 15 minute intermission. The theatre itself feels hipster. Slightly old but revitalized with the creative shows. You have to be a member to enjoy alcohol at the events. Join for $15 and you can drink for a year. Overall a nice place with some free parking in the back. Check out something that interest you today, playing this summer.
