Even the parking lot was trash free, and there weren't a lot of stray carts lying around (that could either be a testament to Walmart being on top of their game, or to the people of Ft Stockton just being very courteous.. We may never know lol). The interior of the store was a LOT smaller than I have ever seen, but it had the basics. Enough to be called a supercenter, I reckon. The people were friendly, and not just the employees. It appeared to be a true small town walmart, where everyone is just plain friendly to everyone. People of Fort Stockton, although you may not realize it you have a gem in this Walmart. Trust me, I have seen MUCH worse!!

The mantra of the owners was to ask what people wanted and needed and they stocked it. Clothes, cleaning, auto, camping, pet, drug store stuff (minus pharmacy)...lots and lots of stuff in a beautifully refurbished commercial building with central air conditioning/heat. The only downside is the signage....pay attention to the address...there are several of these buildings on Cemetery Rd. This is after the self storage jumble of buildings. Lots of parking.

Just when you think you've visited the worst Walmart in your life in another town.... whaam! , here…read moreyou arrive at the Walmart in Pecos Texas. Of course pretty much everything in Pecos Texas is overcrowded, run-down and expensive for what they really are. Except for Walmart! You get your standard Walmart prices but you do not have an automotive department, no 24 hours and even longer lines, but you do get to dodge Isles full of inventory that need to be broken down and items put on the shelves. Also, don't let me get started on the 20 plus people deep line because like overcrowded Pecos Texas everybody is trying to pack 10 pounds of crap in a 5lb bag, Walmart is no exception. This is one place that definitely needed to be a super Walmart. I'm going to hate to give this advice to you but the Family Dollar and general dollar down the road put this Walmart to shame. Now that you might have taken this advice, please do me a favor and do not go into these dollar stores until I am done finished and left this piece of a something town. I don't want my favorite places to get overcrowded. Oh, and before I go one more important thing, the parking lot! You think you're from Houston and driving /parking cannot get any worse than those Asians in Bellaire? Yes those people, but these people put the people that Park in Walmart to shame, actually make them look like professionals or something because if you try to come in here with a nice vehicle you can pretty much be assured you will have 6 Vehicles parked around a 4 space to park a lot around you in Every Which Way but Loose. We stopped in on a recent trip and were greeted by friendly employees. Typical Dollar Tree with aisle after aisle of inexpensive wares. Great section of Christmas items and cards. Decent crafting supplies. Books, DVD's and Blu-rays, and much more. This store even had clean restrooms which do not require a key chained to anything so it must be a pretty safe area. Located in a strip mall with a hardware store and a Beall's which may or may not be closing soon. Definitely worthy of a stop even if you just need to stretch your legs from hours of driving. I'm sure you'll find something or a cart full of somethings in this store for your trip or for your final destination.

I was so happy, it was really cheap and the staff were nice. I got some sandwich components to make panini's, and seasonings for the other food. I was surprised they had so many vegetables at a cheap price. I have a birthday party I am going to soon and was able to get Minecraft decorations for it as well. It really is a one stop shop! The nail polish left my fingers dyed yellow/red so I would not suggest them, but the nail polish remover did the job!

Now we can find their gift shop treasures in town. Lots of really lovely alpaca products, along with local Bee Wranch honey and other gifts for critter lovers. And the teddy bears here are the softest I have ever felt. Soon I hear the very sweet owner, Heidi, will be bottle feeding her baby kangaroo at the shop!
