I was staying with family in Etlan, and of course we ran out of some necessities. The corner store in that town doesn't open until 1:00 on Sunday, and we didn't want to wait, so we crossed our fingers and headed out to Madison. We'd almost driven through the entire town (took about thirty seconds), when we saw the sign for Dollar General. Ecstatic, we ran in and loaded up on all the essentials (milk, cereal, coffee, candy, Gatorade, Oreos, razors, and chips). The prices actually were pretty low, and while the store is small, they had most anything you could need, and several options of most items. There were a few customers in line before us, but it moved quickly, and the cashier was cute and friendly. Yes, it's a Dollar General, so a little dingy and poorly organized, but all in all they get a big thumbs up from me.

My one complaint: the parking lot is always filled with litter and other debris, and there are no receptacles for trash. This is a business where people exit and begin unwrapping their purchases. The patrons are also coming and going with fast food items. What is the inevitable result except piles of trash in the parking lot? Why would no accommodation be made for this? It makes the entire neighbor look like a mess. A second, vastly lesser complaint: The area at the cash registers is too clogged up with merchandise and displays. Clear things out a little, please. I have mentioned both of these concerns to various employees, and no one responds. Respond, and I'll upgrade your rating.
