Frau Zeh, the wife of the owner welcomed us personally, made sure that we had dinner, keeping the kitchen open for us, and also made sure that we were comfortable with our rooms. The rooms are rather basic, but scrupulously clean and comfortable. Beds were typically German: two mattresses in a double frame, two blankets. We had breakfast buffet and menu-fixe, three course dinner included. The breakfast was beautifully laid out with local cheese and meat offerings, the best soft-boiled eggs I've had in a while, breads and fruit, coffee, tea, in a word everything you could ask for in a hearty mountain breakfast to sustain you for the hikes of the day. Dinner was always delicious, and for me always vegetarian, something I really appreciated. You can order wine or beer (you're in Bavaria after all), Odl (a local Kraeuterschnapps of sorts, cures everything) or cocktails extra. We were there for a Friday evening of Bavarian and Austrian (it's only a few kilometres away) music; they had a full house and we were treated to a lovely evening. I've saved the best for last: we were leaving very early, before the kitchen opened in the morning, and Frau Zeh made sure that we had breakfast/lunch sandwiches, fruit, water and orange juice for our journey. How many hoteliers and innkeepers do you know who will offer you this? If you go for hiking or skiing, we heartily recommend that you give Gasthof Aggenstein the opportunity to make your vacation a success. Danke vielmals und auf Wiedersehen!

Pfrontener Favorite - There pork tenderloin cuts, fresh regional vegetables and Spätzle. Absolutely terrific! The taste combinations and complexity are tremendous. Berglerschnitzel - Another local tradition. Pork tenderloins with Kase Spätzle in Allgäu cheese and perfectly spiced! Rich and hearty, this will never disappoint! For dessert - Kaiserscharmm! Rich pancake cuts with apple sauce, cinnamon, pecans and ladled in happiness. You'll love it! Try their house beers as well, some of the best I've had from all around Europe. Try this place! If you're within 60km and don't come here, you're doing yourself a disservice.

He argued with me when I said that the "roast beef" on the menu was just a hard steak and I wanted a soft roast beef as it was mentioned on the menu. So when I said that he went off on me saying that "yes, it is a steak indeed but locally it is called a roast beef." My point is that the waiter should have explained that the "roast beef" on the menu is just a steak and not a roast beef when I was ordering. Instead I got yelled at... The whole fried fish was alright. The duck was also alright. Their beef broth soup with dumplings was amazing, the cheese dumplings are not cheese dumplings but meatballs with some cheese inside. I wasn't told it as well but I was pleasantly surprised. Their flat cheese pancakes were delicious too. We spent over 200 Euros for four people. I cannot say we enjoyed the experience... It was in a light gravy. The matzah ball wasn't bad, and the red cabbage had just the right sweetness to set off that pork. Dorfwirt delicious! Von unserem Haus können sie tolle Wanderungen oder Radtouren unternehmen. Der Sonnenlift liegt direkt hinter unserem Haus. Hier können sie oder Ihre Kinder die Skischule besuchen. Die Loipe liegt ca 100m von unserem Haus entfernt.
