Knowing there had also been rumors early on in 2016 about the Muckdogs being sold/moved, I figured this year would be an opportune time to get to a Muckdogs game. There's no page available for Dwyer Stadium itself, so this review encompasses the overall experience. In terms of getting to the stadium and everything, I used my GPS (since I don't really know my way around Batavia) and found the stadium easily. Parking is free and readily accessible on stadium grounds. The staff is friendly and organized, and my Will Call tickets were readily available for pick-up. The stadium itself is typical for a short-season A team, and I think I showed up for the last game of the season (Labor Day). The fact that it was the last game of the season did mean that the concession area was out of the more popular food options (including sausage sandwiches, etc), so one had to stick to the basics... but plenty of people (comparatively speaking) showed up to enjoy the game. With ticket and concession prices being so inexpensive, it's not a bad way to spend a day. When it comes to the overall experience during the game, I suppose the stadium is missing any added "oompf." The mascot, for example, was out maybe... once during the game? Walking in front of the crowd/in the stadium; however, there was no participation by the mascot, including in the between-inning games with kids from the crowd (something that's fairly normal). The games too were pretty simple, and even the staff members assisting seemed to lack some enthusiasm. The game played was enjoyable though, and it's great to see such young players and their passion for the game. In a stadium like this, I suppose it's more about getting up close to the players... and while I didn't try and get anyone's autograph this time around, it would seem the stadium layout makes it fairly simple to get to players at some point. TL;DR Very local feel. Am glad I went in 2016 so that I could check it off the "to visit" list, but it feels lacking in comparison to other stadiums I've visited, including those for other short season/single A clubs.

The place is so adaptable to change... It's been remodeled a few times, with some much needed improvements. This past August, I got a chance to watch the Mets take on the home-team Red Wings as part of a corporate event. The schedule gods were friendly so I could root for my hometown team as a visitor to this pretty ballpark. Innovative Field is nestled in downtown Rochester and has a cool backdrop of some of the city's buildings. I really liked that the park is part of their downtown's identity as Syracuse's is not. Parking was nearby and fairly easy to find. Their gift shop is expansive and had lots of fun items to take home including their alternate jerseys (the garbage plates) and some of the diversity night jerseys and hats. I browsed but didn't buy. Food is pretty standard fare though they have a cool pub style area to get a beer and it has tv's to watch the action while you're enjoying a drink. For some reason, the hot dog buns are like a italian sub roll and engulf the dog - too heavy for a bun and too bready. Not sure what local place they are supporting, but this was my only complaint about their food. As with any park, your mileage may vary with the sunshine/sunset depending on which side you sit on. We sat in an outfield area near the scoreboards and it was pretty brutal :) Overall, a great place to watch a ballgame. I've been to better, but this one is a gem for Rochester-area baseball fans.

Crashorama is our favorite event and we come every year sometimes twice a year to enjoy it. There is TONS of parking and lots of seating. Lots of fairly priced food and drink vendors and the whole time is fun. I could do with less political Trump BS on account of the announcing staff but that's another story entirely. That being said, who doesn't love to watch crashes now and again? My wife and I get our race and crash fix twice a year add an event called crash-a-rama Rama. During crash a rama they host a variety of events such as and endurance race, Figure 8 races, demolition derby and boat/trailer races. The goal is obviously to win the race, but during this particular event they do it as aggressively as possible. The amount of crashes and mayhem that you see are well worth the $25 ticket price. The concession stands a reasonably priced, but lines do tend to get pretty long. They also offer beer and wine. Wine is $4 for a 5 ounce pour. In addition to crash crash-a-rama we have also been here for paintball. I got a Groupon, so I can't speak to the regular cost. We did have a really good time though, unique feature was they had multiple courses for you to play on. My group of 10 enjoyed playing on all of the courses and I will definitely be back. I highly recommend Crash-a-Rama for families and friends, young and old; it's always a good time.

They have soccer, basketball, volleyball, turf fields, and hard court spaces, so there's plenty for kids to do. Parking is limited, I had to park in a field, luckily the ground was frozen, but my long walk to the entrance was brutal. Also they charge to get in and watch the kids play, torn on that. I visited with my niece the last 3 years at other sports venues (Henrietta, Victor, and Gates) and no admission fee. It's only $5.00 to get in here, but that with far away parking in a field was no fun. Inside is ok, bathrooms ok, place seemed clean, concessions good. Had a nice visit with my niece while her daughter played Volleyball. Would go back, but prefer not too just due to admissions fee, and lack of parking, other than it's ok.

I heard one of them on YouTube, it was horrible. Put me right off him. I'm sure it's the reason why Layla left him. He definitely wasn't wonderful that night. This is actually my favourite place in Western NY to play soccer (football, futbol). It's not as fancy as Sahlen's, and female friends have told me it doesn't smell very nice here (because of the Ice Hockey probably), but it feels like home. The employees are absolutely wonderful, the refs are usually very good, the teams that play here don't usually try and cripple you and break your legs, and in general this place is good times and good people. The guy who runs it (doesn't own it, but pretty much runs it), is Mark, and he is one of the friendliest people I've ever dealt with. He's so accommodating and just nice on every level, and very professional. The other guys that work here such as Isaiah (sp?) and the cute girls that do the scorekeeping (one in particular! swoon!), and the referees like the two from England (one from Birmingham, one who vacations in Florida), and so on... Plus I have a habit of winning championships here, so I like it. I think I've won something like 6 or 7 championships here in the last 3 years... 4 or 5 of those were in the last 6 months. So yay Epic. It's always good to win, right? Sahlens is where I always seem to get injured, and it's super far, and super serious... and Sportsplex is... well, I'll review that another time and explain. They have all kinds of other cool sports as well as soccer... just look on their website for full details. And they have a small and a large soccer field, and I like playing on both. Especially on the small one because it matches the kind of little 5-a-side games I used to play in England, it lends itself to players who are good at close control and tight-space-skill which is definitely one of my fave types of game play.
