Good stay and good service! I really liked the hotel and that it has a hot tub & pool. The lobby…read morehas lots of charm and character as well and love the fountain. It was a great choice for our stay! Everyone was so friendly, and I appreciated the Diamond status recognition (and those warm cookies!). I'm a big HiltonHonors fan, and the DoubleTree brand is always a solid travel pick and it's just nice to receive an inviting and friendly welcome. The hotel is big! I mean like really big. Like a maze. I looked it up and there are 347 guest rooms covering 5 floors & 12,000+ square feetMeeting/event space. We stayed in Room 540, and while the hallway had a bit of a smoke smell, the rooms are nonsmoking, so not sure what that was about. Minor details, wear and dust, but still 5 stars based on amenities and service. I only found one Ice machine working too on 4 of the floors. Helpful tip: Door 3 is closest to the elevators! Another guest shared that with me and it saved some walking! I think I saw at least 9 numbered doors from circling the building trying to get out of the parking lot. No real issues during the stay other than the ice machine and would absolutely stay here again. We chose this location to be close to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation but a solid choice if you want to stay outside of Downtown Detroit.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing…read more On our first night, we found partially used bar soap left in the shower, hair on the toilet seat and chair, dirty walls, and stained sheets. After a long day of traveling, I was exhausted and just wanted to get some rest, but the condition of the room made that impossible. That first night alone, we had to switch rooms three times because the rooms had not been cleaned properly. We were told the hotel was short-staffed and that it had been an ongoing issue. The following morning, we had to change rooms yet again because of a dirty shower and a leaking ceiling. To the manager's credit, they waived the charge for one night, which I appreciated. However, the overall condition of the hotel was unacceptable. In addition to the cleanliness issues, the property is in need of significant renovations. Even the chairs in the restaurant area were noticeably worn and outdated. Based on my experience, I would not choose to stay at another DoubleTree after this visit.

Their staff did an admirable job in dealing with a sudden emergency. We were sitting around a big table in their Dearborn Conference Room on Friday when around 6:30pm the area was hit with a power outage. Somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 customers lost power, including the hotel. Whatever happened also affected the hotel generator, because that was knocked out too. No heat, no hot water, no electricity, no internet. The hotel staff did what they could and set up emergency contractor lights in the lobby area and dining area. I'm not sure how, but they were able to serve the traditional Embassy Suites hot breakfast the next morning. My visit got off to a great start, with a big suite room and an excellent check-in experience. Some of our party arrived early and we enjoyed their complimentary Happy Hour drinks and snacks. Their staff was wonderful -especially the food service workers who set up that hot breakfast in dim lighting. One of the guys made me laugh when he said eating breakfast in the cold and dark reminded him of being back in the service!

She informed me of hotel amenities and their hours of operation then directed me to my room. Room was fine, albeit a tad worn. I had a burger in the bar which was very good. Bartender was friendly and efficient. There was a loud, obnoxious woman at the bar who I was able to avoid until I spoke with a man at the bar. Evidently, she was a regular customer. She directed a comment toward me that was factually incorrect and when I attempted to explain to her why, she exploded and started screaming at me. I stepped away, gathered my stuff and waited for my check at the end of the bar farthest from her. She continued screaming at me from across the bar, raving loudly that she would pray for me--which I found particularly bizarre and rather scary. I asked her repeatedly to stop shouting at me. While waiting I had a polite conversation with a man at the end of the bar that I had purposefully placed between she and me. The bartender returned and she finally got her to stop screaming. I paid and left. In the morning at checkout I told the front desk person about my very negative and frightening experience. She apologized and said that they expect people not to "talk politics". I pointed out to her that Fox News was playing on every TV in the lobby and bar and she apologized again. I took the shuttle to the airport. Driver was nice and professional and even tried to help me obtain a cart. Despite other positive aspects of the hotel, I will not be returning to a place that allows crazy people to drink to oblivion then verbally attack other guests.

I came in with decent expectations. I've stayed at enough of Choice Hotels to know that even though…read morethey might have one of their premier names on them, they might not be the nicest. But we were able to get a suite for around $100 a night since we were there for three nights. Great deal and we wanted to go to Greenfield Village which is nearby. Parking in the front and back but unfortunately even at night, the back door is unlocked cuz it is broken. I actually parked my electric car next door at the Amtrak station because it was free overnight charging. It was a short walk so definitely worth it if you have an electric car. Did I mention completely free? Make sure to get a room away from the railroad tracks as the road out front is not loud at all. Place is a bit outdated and needs some upkeep. But the breakfast was fine although nothing too special. Everything appeared clean in our room and we were glad to have the suite. This place just needs some updating and I think it would be a much better choice. Our shower water was always lukewarm unfortunately. Staff was friendly though and we made sure to tip housekeeping.

We were told by Rah she could move us but never did. Next day came and no new room. Left and came back and asked Rah I had a terrible attitude when we asked her about the status of the room, which is already a day and our vacation. We're only here for two days. She then proceeded to tell us that she checked into it. It will still be after five we asked her was everything OK because her mood kind of shifted and she said were you already asked and I told you I would do it in some way. That's not a great way to communicate with customers she enrolled her eyes and started to talk back. I asked her if she could listen so that she can get a better understanding of what we need she said that she already knew she said OK whatever she turned her body away from us and her head and moved we asked for the corporate office number she provided it. She threw it on the table and told us to call it so that's just what I did. Customer service is awesome. The room was appear to be very dirty. Inside the hallways are dirty the hallway smell like marijuana weed smoke or cigarettes. Rah comfort Inn and suites should be very disappointed that they have someone like raw at the front desk. She is completely incapable of any compassion or problem-solving. She had a little notepad that had three names of three people that were having issues with their room and we were at the bottom of the list and she said see this is why I have you on the list now like I forgot and just no compassion no consideration for someone that is traveling out of town and somewhere for two days a day and a half of that's already messed up. Rah is horrible, and you guys should really consider replacing her or retraining her.

There are five homes including a Carriage House that are gorgeous! They were built in the 1800s by Detroits affluent. Each house has several rooms with en suite bathrooms. There are many architecturally pleasing designs with each home. There are turrets, covered porches, beveled glass, etc. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. While there I found out they just recently reopened after being closed during the pandemic. Many places list it as closed so we brought it to the attention of the desk clerk and hopefully they will get it updated.

I noticed a space heater in the closet, but I was only there to sleep and enjoy a lower temp for that anyhow, so my Michigan spring stay worked out well. A lot of amenities you might expect to find in a modern hotel (coffee maker, clock, phone) are non-existent in your room, but do exist in the common room of each building. My personally experienced drawbacks were that some shades would not move up or down, very little toilet paper and tissue paper in the room, and some housekeeping neglect in the corners. Overall, a 3-4 star experience, but I am leaning towards 4.

This review is strictly the hotel. Room is big. I got a king size bed. The bathroom is nice. Shower is a rain shower. I like those. Water gets hot fast. Be careful turning on if clothed you will get wet. Room itself is good. Desk and couch and large closet. They also have lots of snacks you can pay for. Bed fairly comfy. Here are my dislikes. Noise. All around. People in the hall and neighbors and outside. All hours. I was in a high floor so I did t get all the noise but it's not that quiet. TV has a glitch about every minute it pixels and goes back to normal. It's annoying. The desk is glass topped and you have to cover it to use your mouse for a laptop. I am here for work. It was a challenge for my laptop to get on the internet. Didn't automatically bring up page for WiFi. Plugs by the desk are not powered. So my laptop died. Had to use a wall outlet by the couch. Temperature in the room was a challenge to regulate. People were not friendly but not unfriendly. Mechanical is a word I'd use. Just doing their job. Elevator, you need a key to use. That's fine. But sometimes 1 side doesn't work. You can push the elevator floors on both sides of the elevator car and 1 side will work but the other side won't work with your key. It's annoying. I took a ride till I figured that out the first day. If I have to stay here again for a show I would. But I would hope some of these things would get fixed. It's clean. It's a large room. Just lots of little stuff that makes it annoying.
