However, for our relatively uncomplicated taxes (I am W2, spouse is self-employed), we were charged $1200/year and received no tax guidance or discussion for that price. I finally found a new accountant, who charges less than half that amount, and meets with us quarterly throughout the year for an hourly rate. From the first phone call with our new accountant, we received more high quality information and transparency about cost than we did in five years of working with Baumann and Baumann. Furthermore, over the years, our interactions with them (via email) were filled with condescension and we were treated like children. When we decided not to work with them this year, they wiped our online portal of all our uploaded tax history without giving us a chance to review it. We stuck it out with them for longer than we intended due to the time it took to find a worthwhile alternative, but I'm so glad that we finally stopped working with them!
