With Kirk and Kirk, my taxes have never been late or anything less than smooth in the process. Realistically, I'm not sure some people understand what goes into Taxes and Tax season and perhaps this sparks some of the general confusion here. We're asking tax preparers to do the impossible, and Kirk and Kirk gets it done without a problem time after time

After meeting with Nick DiNatalie in early November, we were looking for someone to prepare our…read more2025 tax return. Following our initial meeting, we felt he would be a good fit. He then requested a $550 retainer upfront, something we had never been asked to pay by any of our previous accountants. Unfortunately, that initial meeting was the only time we met with him. He would not scheduled a follow-up or an appointment to review the documents we were providing. Instead, he sent us a lengthy tax organizer that required us to complete much of the work ourselves. When we asked questions, we often did not receive direct answers. When we questioned why so much of the organizer needed to be completed by us, his response was, "It would cost a lot more if I had to do it." Isn't that your job? We also found the office to be somewhat disorganized, and his comments about his younger staff did little to inspire confidence in the level of support we could expect. Ultimately, we decided to have our taxes prepared elsewhere. To his credit, he did file an extension and is refunding $375 of the retainer. However, we were disappointed with the amount he chose to retain, given our overall experience. Overall, the experience fell well short of our expectations. We were looking for clear guidance, direct answers, and professional service. Instead, we felt that much of the responsibility for preparing our return had been left to us. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this firm.

Not what you expect for your insurance agent, but after having had nothing but good relations with them over the phone, I was pleased to visit their office to pick up some paperwork, and find that they are just as nice in person as they are over the phone. Mary Jane Keane in particular is very nice to work with, though she's insanely busy all the time, and will take care of whatever issues you have just like that. ::snaps::. In addition, he was telling us we had some of our paperwork that he asked for wrong when in fact, it was not wrong. Then he started berating us and was very condescending. He was actually putting this stuff in a very harsh tone in emails. In my opinion, it felt like instead of working with us on what needed to be done, he was bullying us. We were shocked. To top everything off, his bills were considerable higher than prior returns. Suffice it to say, we would never use him again.
