I was looking for something similar to Lefalafel and was recommended to Come here as the menu was almost super identical to it... was super excited Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations and standard.. Staff was super careless they all looked miserable and didn't care to offer great service.. there were maybe 6 employees 5 were just hanging out in the back doing nothing but chit chatting and 1 was doing all the orders pretty sad The wait was super long since only one guy did the whole job .. The place was getting busier but staff didn't seem to care For the food.. my Falafel sandwich was soggy.. too much sauce and the sauce didn't cut it for me they use mustard in the sandwich didn't sit so well with me and they gauzed it down in my pita Pita was not super fresh the only good thing was the falafel was very fresh crispy and tasty but the sand which itself was not a hit... did not like the flavours and the hummus was mediocre to say the least I also was stocked to try their limonana not traditional at all seems like they use a powder and water mix gross.. not fresh and did not taste the mint or the real Israeli flavour Overall, it's a management issue because the employees are just loafing doing whatever they want not attending to the orders or customers takes forever to get your order and that's the only main reason it's busy I find.. Food was edible but not sure I'd come back here ... The ambiance is alright it's more Of a hipster crowd and not middle eastern at all not my kinda vibe But hey to each their own Cheers

Falafel Yoni brings the flavors of Israeli street food to Saint-Viateur Street in Montreal! The Falafel Pita was a delicious sandwich made with crispy, herbaceous green falafel balls piled on top of fresh, crunchy cucumber/tomato salad and chopped red cabbage, along with hummus, tahini, and a spicy green zhoug. It's hard to explain how something so simple can be so delicious, but every component was incredible from the crispy falafel to the fresh vegetables to the creamy tahini! As good as the falafel pita was, the other sandwich on the menu, which gave it a run for its money, was the Sabich, made with hard-boiled egg, eggplant slices, and amba (fermented mango sauce), along with the hummus and salads. The fried eggplant had an amazingly crispy skin, and the amba had just the right balance of sweet, sour, and fruity flavors, which brought all the components of the sandwich together!

4.5 stars I was reallllllly excited for this place to open. But then I went on vacation and forgot about it until I came back a month later and was walking down St-Viateur and there it was! Open for business!! It took about 1 week for Adam and I to try almost the entire menu. On the first visit we both got the pita (full size to see if we could handle it, he could, I couldn't), a lemonade, and the fries. Second visit we just went to try the dessert chocolate tahini balls in all 5 flavours (coconut, rainbow sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, cocoa, sesame). Third visit we got the hummus to share (it is a BIG plate) To be honest, I was sold after the first visit. The falafels really are THAT good. Warm and packed with flavour. The dessert is unique but I think the coconut one is the best, the flavours work better together. The hummus is a great way to grab a shareable lunch to go. They really give you value for money here, the portions have always been way more than I anticipated. I love what they did with the space, the decor is so aesthetic. They also have a sink in the middle to wash your hands and the soap smells really good.

Best Falafel outside of Tel Aviv! WOW. Was blown away by this delicious homemade pita filled with moist balls of falafel and covered in Tahini, hot sauce and fixings. Messy but worth it! Very crowded during lunch so expect a short wait.

We've eaten at the falafel yoni location at the Atwater market twice, and both times we had almost no wait time despite being there on a busy weekend during lunch time. The food is relatively affordable compared to the other options at the Atwater market, and the quality is great! The sabich is large and tasty, and the salad is absolutely massive and has lots of different herbs and lettuces for interest. Definitely would recommend!

Falafel! I love this Middle Eastern dish so Falafel Yoni turned out to be a great find. They specialize in Israeli falafel as opposed to the Lebanese falafel that we typically find here in Montreal. It's a fast serve place and they have a small, focused menu. There isn't much seating so you might have difficulty getting a seat if it's busy. Bring your appetite with you because the portions are very generous. I ordered a full pita sandwich and it was massive. Despite being someone with a massive appetite I struggled to finish it. The flavours were amazing though! Next time I would probably order the half sandwich. The fries that accompanied it were solid. I washed that down with a limonana, which was a mint lemonade which wasn't too sweet at all and really refreshing. Prices might seem a bit high but given the quality and portion size I felt that they were fair. I paid a little less than $20 for the sandwich, fries and drink, but given how much food I got and how much I enjoyed it that wasn't too expensive for me.

I'm not an expert of falafel but this was quite a notch up from the usual pita suspects. The spicy option adds just enough kick to the perfectly flavour-balanced crunchy creamy mix. Oh and the regular sized (very generous) pita is under $10. Another Montreal institution.

We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The husband picked up a Falafel Sandwich & Hummus Platter to share. We decided to eat at home. Our total bill was $21. The food was good. However we asked for spicy and it was still a little bland for our taste. We are happy we tried a new place, but it definitely wasn't the best we have had, so the search shall continue!!

Upon entering the restaurant, I'm instantly reminded of the late nights waiting at a halal cart in nyc after a night out. This restaurant itself is not the cleanest and rather chaotic on weekend nights. Theres usually a long line to order, but it moves rather quickly and efficiently. The staff members aren't the friendliest, but they get the job done LOL. You'll find a bunch of hungry and probably drunk people sitting at the cafeteria styled seats at night. The food is the main selling point here though. I've gotten the mixed platter and shawarma platter; both with generous servings of protein all doused in a flavorful sauce. Ordered the poutine recently and was also impressed how much they loaded the protein. It was a little on the saltier side and wished they had more cheese curds, but still pretty enjoyable. The fries were also more like small potato wedges. I've recommended this place countless times for almost any point of the day, but they especially hit the spot after a long night.

All of them had positive votes so had to give it a try. Although I became accustomed to ignoring this very block of Curé Labelle which usually consists of a 3-4 small restaurants one next to the other for a sole superstitious reason of it being jinxed. Jinxed in a sense that many small food businesses before them have come, tried, failed and left this spot. I certainly hope it won't be the case for this humble falafel joint. Tooth fairy? Hope you're reading this. In my opinion, this Lebanese falafel joint has one of the tastiest falafel sandwiches. I'm not sure what's that ingredient in their falafel which attracts me, may be coriander? Don't know, have to ask next time I'm there but whatever it is, it gives it a special unique twist that I find sets them apart from the competition. By the way, their concise menu's main common component in their other few offering is... you guessed it, falafel. They also have a salad or two I think but specialty is... yes that one. Glad that I found this joint. Clean, small, affordable and very tasty falafel sandwiches which I crave almost weekly on no meat days. Please go ahead and give them a try to find out for yourself. The Long Version: My husband and I were chilling in our hotel when my husband had a hankering for some shawarma. He didn't want to go too far, and I encouraged him to try a new-to-us place, lol. So a quick search led him to Shawarmaz. Shawarmaz is a Canadian company that started 2013 in Montreal. It has several locations but they are all in the Greater Montreal Area. My husband got the beef shawarma in a pita $9.79. They have the option of getting your shawarma in Saj bread or a baguette and those options are more expensive. He got lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, turnips and onions. For his sauces he got hummus, spicy garlic and chipotle. He enjoyed the shawarma. I had a bite so I could review it (I also went with him so I could see the restaurant and take pictures) haha. I thought it was pretty good. They give you a decent amount of protein. And the beef was flavourful and not gristly. I was surprised that the wrap was not too spicy considering the sauces he chose. The decor is fast food restaurant-like. Service was good but it did take a while for the food, although it's likely because there was a pretty long line up. Review #205 (2025)

They usually have a dine-in option but their their dining area is currently closed due to covid. Nonetheless, you can still enjoy their delicious food by taking your food to go! You can also order their food on UberEats and Doordash! Based on the recommendations of the owner, we tried the following dishes: - Fava bean falafels - Mulukhiyah - Egyptian bread - Kushari (rice, lentils, chickpeas, noodles, tomato sauce and fried onions) - Bachamel (ground beef mixture, noodles and bachamel sauce) - Zalabia (puffy fritters soaked in syrup) This was our first time having Egyptian food and we were blown away. Everything was bursting with color and flavor. The falafels were incredible, especially when eaten inside the Egyptian bread and smothered with tahini (a spread made of ground sesame seeds). It was so good we bought ourselves a second serving to bring home!! The bachamel was also extremely delicious. They typically make it in a larger platter, which makes the dish great for catering and feeding big groups! And the zalabia was a perfect way to end the meal! The food alone merits a stellar review but the owners are what makes this place so special. Both of them were so welcoming and kind when we showed up, and took the time to make sure we were happy with the food. Miriam especially was super sweet and you could tell she truly loves what she's doing. Both of them are beautiful people and make Tanoura a beautiful place to eat.
