The Falafel was not good, tasted like very old oil they use to fry for. The price upfront said $12 but once we paid with $20 they return $5 for the change. Not sure how much is the price for a platter. read more

We stopped in for a late lunch/hold-me-over. My wife and I ordered a falafel platter to share. The owner was very friendly, answered all my questions and got our platter ready quickly. The slaw was basic red cabbage and mayo and quite tasty. The diced cucumber and tomato salad was also good. The hummus was top notch and the falafel were great. The there's the pita. Oh the pita! Do not let the atmosphere of this place deter you; you would be sadly mistaken. While the outside, inside and the people around it look seriously rough; the food is incredible. The Cook even made a point of washing his hands in front of us. Dare I say the best falafel I have ever had? It wasn't overly dry or fried but rather the perfect combo of aromatic flavors and moistness. My mind was literally blown with the first bite I took. Found this place on my phone. Wife walked right by it. Small place but everything made on the spot. Wife is vegetarian so this was great. Owner was awesome and got some history from his relative while the food was being made. Food was so good we ate there twice in the week. Great food! We had never tried Falafel, but we took a chance and it was delicious! The man who took our order also made our food and washed his hands beforehand right in front of us. I swung in around 2pm on Saturday for a falafel to eat with my beer. There were some guys hanging out inside and staff was very attentive. I ordered a falafel and wondered around outside while it was being made. Falafel is literally my favorite food so I was so excited to eat it when it was done. I found a place outside to sit and began eating. Unfortunately mine lacked real taste. I wanted to like it so much but it was just too bland. I only ate about half and tossed the rest in the garbage. I would be willing to try again another time due to all the good reviews this place has but my experience wasn't very positive. Delicious food. Rotten customer service. If only coming in for a quick sandwich, by all means.. eat up and enjoy. The falafel, snitsel and shawarma are all delectable. Get your food and get out as soon as you can. If, for some reason, you are coming here with a group and/or dealing with the management, you might have a different experience. After a couple of days and many phone calls, I was able to secure a specific agreement with FK re price, quantity of order, food ordered, and time of delivery. Seems pretty easy, yes? Well, execution of said arrangement proved to be an experience in frustration. Despite hours (seriously, hours) of conversation about all of the above (price, quantity, time of delivery, and food ordered), nothing -- absolutely nothing -- was correct. To add insult to injury, when I pressed about the problems, the person with whom I dealt decided not to honor the arrangement we'd made. After a... spirited conversation... he was able to see the error of his ways but my patience and appetite were gone. It's just food. It shouldn't be so difficult. Again, I understand that mine was a pretty specific experience, thus the three stars. FK has fantastic product. Just don't look for anything (anything at all) else. You'll be disappointed. read more

There's a random Falafel King sign and a small alley for the way we got to this spot. It's definitely not a place to hang out, just grab some food and go. The falafel pitas we got were seriously good. We took them over to Mallory Square and sat down there to watch the entertainment and eat. The guy here was nice, food was fast and we were on our way. Ok this is a place to get Falafel pitas made my Puerto Ricans so what did I expect? The Falafel balls themselves were ok but they gave me a few different chopped vegetable salads as part of my platter. All of these were way too salty. The staff seemed a little uncomfortable and were watching Spanish Soap operas about drug lords which were funny. read more

Don't judge this place by the appearance. It's a lot different when it comes to food, on the better side. We wanted a quick meal in middle of the seafood houses in Duval street and I'm happy that we gave it a shot. Falafel plate and falafel pita, both were delicious with the spicy sauce to add to it. This is the only place on the island to get a falafel since the Mediterranean cafe on Duval got replaced with a clam shack (like another seafood place was really needed down here). Odd little place next to an alleyway that has many people loitering... The hummus and pita were just ok. The tomato salad didn't have much taste, the hot sauce had a strange taste and the pita sub standard industrial bread. I was expecting at least good middle eastern food and I would rate it as sub optimal. Wouldn't go here again nor recommend, unless you are simply trying to eat cheap. If this is the King, this is the saddest little kingdom ever. I did not factor this into the review rating, but don't try idling in front of this place. The traffic police will chase you away, especially since getting your food takes almost 20 minutes. They are a bit militant about it. Anyway- I love falafel so I was excited to see this place. First, the service was terrible. The guy acted like he was doing me a favor. I asked how long it would take due to the aforementioned parking situation, and he said a couple of minutes (which to me - means 5 minutes or les). After I ordered, the guy disappeared into the back, and didn't emerge for 20 minutes. I didn't expect fast food, but he should have just told me it would be 20 minutes. I wasn't even sure he was coming back, like maybe there was a hidden camera to watch and see how long I would wait while this guy gorged himself on falafels with all the fixings. OK - that sounded a little paranoid, but speaking of fixings, he didn't ask and just put everything on everything. That's how I wanted it anyway, but he didn't know that. When we got the food, the falafel was not good. I mean it wasn't spit on the floor bad, but it was below average for sure. If falafel is your namesake and banner food, it needs to be better than good! We also had a beef kebab of some kind. That actually wasn't bad. They should change this name to Duke of Kebab. I think the 5 star ratings on here may be drunk people...because lets face it, this would be considered high quality for late night drunk food. I would skip this place, or if you go, get the kebab and don't be fooled by the King title. read more

My husband and I just came across one of the best-kept secrets in key west. Falafel king was down an alley near Mallory square. We just happened to stumble upon the back entrance. I'm a huge fan of falafel and like mine fresh, so I took a major chance and ordered the falafel pita. I'll admit the place looked like a little hole in the wall, but the pita was only $6 so I was willing to take the chance. We were greeted by a few very friendly guys that looked to be of maybe Hispanic ethnicity, but I'm not the best judge of that. I was impressed that after taking our order and our payment, the gentleman making our pita washed his hands. Make sure you ask them to toast your pita. It's the best! I said I wanted mine spicy so they put homemade hummus, tahini sauce, spicy red cabbage spread, shredded lettuce and an Israeli tomato and cucumber salad. I was not disappointed at the least. In fact, I returned the next day for the very same thing. If you don't try this place, you're missing out. Take my word for it. read more
