Although I became accustomed to ignoring this very block of Curé Labelle which usually consists of a 3-4 small restaurants one next to the other for a sole superstitious reason of it being jinxed. Jinxed in a sense that many small food businesses before them have come, tried, failed and left this spot. I certainly hope it won't be the case for this humble falafel joint. Tooth fairy? Hope you're reading this. In my opinion, this Lebanese falafel joint has one of the tastiest falafel sandwiches. I'm not sure what's that ingredient in their falafel which attracts me, may be coriander? Don't know, have to ask next time I'm there but whatever it is, it gives it a special unique twist that I find sets them apart from the competition. By the way, their concise menu's main common component in their other few offering is... you guessed it, falafel. They also have a salad or two I think but specialty is... yes that one. Glad that I found this joint. Clean, small, affordable and very tasty falafel sandwiches which I crave almost weekly on no meat days. Please go ahead and give them a try to find out for yourself. The eggplant dip was not good at all. But the rest of the food was good. When we finished eating we waiting approximately 30 mins to come clean up the table, we weren't even offered to get some dessert, we asked about getting one of there dessert but apparently they didn't have. We asked to get 2 bills but we only got 1, we wanted to pay and leave but the waiter was nowhere to be found. I think the service was not good at all and for that I don't think I'll be coming back. One was the shish-taouk and the other one falafel. I found the shish-taouk pita to be really good and the falafel pita more on the average side. The price tag is pretty good and the service was lightning quick. Staff was friendly and attentive. 4 Stars. Second visit was quite different for me. The gentleman who was preparing my sandwiches was more interested in fooling around with his more regular patrons and made several unacceptable preparation errors. Firstly, you ALWAYS ask your client what they want in their sandwiches, you don't assume it's always all dressed. In my case, I severely dislike turnips and don't want it in there. I informed him I don't want turnips, to which he removed them with his hands, one at a time, from my shish-taouk sandwich. I much rather he started a new sandwich instead but I didn't want to be "that guy". When I moved to the cash to pay, I did the mistake of not looking at him prepare my shwarma sandwich, to which I found to my surprise when I bit into it back to the office... yep, full of turnips. I was indeed quite annoyed by this and thought it was him being incredibly careless or he was being a douche. 2 Stars and it would have been 1 Star but the shish-taouk is that good. I may be back but not anytime soon, I need time... I've been turnipped.
