I opened the package up to prepare them to smoke yesterday and I just couldn't cook them. They smelled so bad I had to throw them away. They past couple of times I have bought meat from HEB it has not been up to the usual HEB standards. What is going on with the quality of meat that HEB is selling? I drive over 25 miles one way to purchase meat from HEB. After the past few visits, I will be shopping for meat some where else.

Staff is nice but very eager to catch you doing something wrong even if you are innocent. They will stare you down rudely. The staff at the self checkout aren't friendly except for one girl. She's short and has brown hair and glasses. She's my favorite worker and the only one is is nice.

If you're so worried about it, please open a register and scan everything for me. Then proceeding to check my receipt before I leave self check out. THEN being stopped AGAIN at the door for someone to check my receipt.... Mind you several other people walked out of the store without having their receipts checked. Bags or no bags. Including my daughter with a handful of phone cases. Receipt in hand, but not checked. But I had to be checked several times. It is illegal for any store that does not require a membership (Costco/Sam's club) to mandate people show you their receipt upon leaving. There is however, "Shopkeepers privilege" that states if a store suspects you of stealing, they are able to search your bags and detain you as needed be. So. Walmart. When you ask me if you can check my receipt....I will say no. If you state that I am suspected of stealing, then, I will gladly show you the items in my cart and receipt. Please educate your employees of these rules so that when I tell them they cannot force me to show my receipt because the rule is to show receipts....they do not argue with me about it. Not only are the trash cans in the middle of the isles, it is not uncommon for boxes or carts loaded with boxes sitting in the isle to restock the the shelves. You can never get any help and I have even walked out without a purchase on several occassions because there was only one person ther who was at the register and understandably couldn't leave to help me. I totally agree with the other reviewer, the store is filthy and the shelves look ransacked, not a pleasant sight to try to shop. I came from Houston and the stores seem to reflect the ecomonic state of the people in the area where the stores were located. Ironically, Carthage is not an ecomonically depressed area. The fact that Dollar General management felt the of putting two stores in this town of 20,000+ people, only a couple of miles apart, would indicated they were benefiting pretty substantially at one time. I would venture to guess that the quality of products, services, and facilities will be or already has been their demise in Carthage. Let's pick it up Dollar General and resume what was once here.

It literally looks like it was either looted or a tornado hit it…read more The ceiling had giant holes in it, and they had trash cans (it looked like they had taken two trash cans off the shelf that they were trying to sell) and had them perched haphazardly on a top shelf where the hole in the ceiling was to catch leaking rain water. By the time I saw those trash cans they were well over half full of water. The whole store was filthy and the shelves were ransacked. Merchandise was thrown across shelves and scattered all over the floor throughout the entire store. I'm seriously surprised this place is still standing! No telling how long its been like this! The employees themselves look like they've given up on life, and obviously they've given up on the store. I was really appalled at the conditions this store is in. Maybe it's something with this company in general... the one that's across town isn't too great either but at least their ceiling is intact...
