From the initial sales tour with Suzy through the nurses review and meeting all the aids, I new this was the right place for Mom & Dad. They all went out of their way to welcome M&D and help them transition to their new home. Even Kara in billing helped by providing billing details for our insurance company. When questions or concerns came up, all I had to do was ask and the team responded with solutions that fit our needs. It is very comforting to know that my parents are in a safe and loving environment, and if they need anything at all, it's just the push of a button away. Now they can live out their golden years in comfort and safety. My sincere thanks to all the people that make up the team at Silver Maples of Chelsea!

There aren't a lot of senior living communities that I would consider when I reach the point of…read moreneeding one. Timbercrest is most certainly one I would consider. Timbercrest, which has existed for 135 years in one form or another, has its roots in Church of the Brethren, a historic peace denomination of which I belonged to for several years. As a result, I visited this community, and I fell in love with this community, several times over. Timbercrest is a non-profit community existing on 120 acres in the relatively small North Manchester. Timbercrest is in the top 10% of care communities in Indiana with a 4.6/5.0 rating from the CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System. Timbercrest offers independent living, assisted living, health care, rehab to home, and memory care. The facility is simple yet beautiful and well kept. I've never met a bad soul there. I even stayed there one night when I was wheeling through on one of my tours. I've assisted with their Sunday services (volunteer) and I've had several friends who live there. Recently, they installed a new trail on their grounds. Timbercrest is an absolute gem in North Manchester, a town I absolutely love that also serves as the home for Manchester University (a Church of the Brethren college). While I'm certainly not ready to live in a retirement community yet, if the need arises this will be one of the places I look first.

I've been to Timbercrest several times over the last decade and has always stood out as first rate. My relative who lives here has many friends and a great quality of life here. I'm glad she is surrounded by people who don't just take care of her, but care about her as well. I can only hope that someday when it's my turn I'll find a place as good.

I love Heritage Corner Health Care Campus!…read more My mother-in-law has been a resident there for over 7 years, and they do a great job taking care of her. No place is perfect, but Heritage has many loyal employees who really care about their clients, and it shows. The nursing staff is awesome. I also love that they have all levels of care from independent living all the way to memory care and hospice. This is important, because as you grow older, the only thing you really have left is your friends, and having all levels in one facility allows Mom to continue to see her friends even when they need a higher level of care. Heritage also has a daycare, so they bring the kids in to interact with the residents on a weekly basis, which the residents really enjoy. In addition, they have lots of activities and bus trips, which the residents enjoy. I would strongly recommend checking out this facility for anyone looking for independent or assisted living.

I felt the patient rooms were visually stark and cold -- to the bleak extreme. (Oddly, the common areas were much better.) People die here but no need for the patient rooms to remind you of it any sooner than necessary. There was no welcoming program to acquaint us with the room. We kept having to ask questions like "what is the phone number to the room," "can she get a glass of water," "where are more blankets and pillows," etc. It was a stressful time, of course, but some of the nursing staff seemed notably distant and disconnected. The intake social worker was above average and the hospice doctor was very good. It wasn't all bad. Bring low expectations about the accommodations and consider hiring a private nurse. In my opinion, this is what lowest common denominator corporate hospice services looks like.
