    Mold/ mildew in shower

Rooms were not clean...lot of body hair, mildew in showers, etc. Tried contacting the hotel directly to address but no response. Also, no one in the lobby when we arrived ...had to wait about five minutes before someone came to the desk. I'm a big Marriott property fan and Gold member -- this place needs some attention.

Convenient location off I-95. Clean updated rooms with modern decor. Staff was very friendly. Nice breakfast for guests from 6am to 9 am. Would definitely stay again while driving through!

As far as breakfast goes there was no yogurt of any kind, no peanut butter, no chocolate milk. The items that were provided were put out at minimum. Fruit cups were available but again, sparsely. All of these, though it may seem trivial to some, are commonplace in other hotels. The only ice machine in the entire hotel was broken. The room itself was clean. The suite provided two side chairs and one footstool that were located across from the second tv. In my opinion, there could have been a table of some sort, either for sit down eating if you were ordering food or at the very least to hold a coffee pot which was not provided in the room. The shower was in need of repair. It leaked/sprayed water from one of the connections and needed a new shower head. At least one mattress needed to be replaced. There was no laundry bag provided. The telephone was not connected, the cord was not visible. There was no clock provided. Most name brand hotels have upgraded to pump style containers of shampoo, conditioner and body soap along with hand/body lotion. That was not the case with this BW location. There was 1 "hotel size" container of shampoo and the same with conditioner. There were no make-up removal wipes which are commonplace in other hotels. When we addressed a few of these issues at check-out, we were told the new ownership was in the process of doing some things, sorry for the inconvenience. I kept a card from the front desk to remind us to not stay at this BW location again. I have seen some of the reviews for this BW location and some seem positive. Those reviews date back to 2024, 2023 and earlier. Our stay was March 2026.

Breakfast is standard fare at hotels, not crazy about the newer coffee machines slows things up and makes it rough when you have a full house. You have to put your trash can outside you room y to o have it emptied if you are not getting service. You must inform the front desk if you would like your room cleaned. Also when coming back to the room I know have to pick up the trash can and bring it back into the room. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. However, once I got in my room, I feel like management and staff just gave up. The carpet is old and worn while appearing to be laid on top of more carpet. When I opened my door, the door dragged on the carpet. The furniture appeared worn and dated while the TV was cheap with poor picture quality. The bathroom? Abysmal. This is where I start deducting stars. The tub appeared to have a stain or the porcelain finish was worn (see image). The shower head had some weird mold looking stuff around it and the vanity light fixture was corroding. The continental breakfast was embarrassingly stocked. If you're okay with Corn Flakes, bread, eggs/sausage with two juices, great! It's for you. But this was a small selection and NOTHING for someone wanting more fruit and cereal options. It's like they gave up on the breakfast. I said screw it and decided to grab food on the road. I'm all for saving a few bucks for my business here and there, but there are some creature comforts you shouldn't go without. The breakfast is forgivable, but the gross bathroom is hard to ignore. While I wouldn't discourage people from staying here, I do recommend looking into other options in the area if you have the time. Note to Marriott: do better. I'm a huge fan of your hotel chain, so this establishment tarnishes your otherwise spotless reputation. Three stars - but if I stayed here longer that might decrease to two stars. Proceed with caution.

We arrived at the Ritz too late for dinner anywhere but the lobby bar. Enjoyed several sushi rolls with drinks, each one imaginative fresh and tasty. But some event had recently let out and the lobby bar got crowded and LOUD. I mean over 100db loud (measured). That's the equivalent of enjoying sushi while jackhammers are crushing concrete all around you. Whoa! Ocean front one bedroom suite - Plush, large, comfortable. Curtains blocked most light, but the bright morning sun still peeked in around the edges. Comfortable bed and plenty cold for good sleeping. Two huge TVs. While the only premium feed provided is Netflix, the cable box had been lowered behind the TV in the living room such that it was simple to plug in your own device. If this is by design, kudos to the Ritz. If this was accidental, we feel very fortunate. Awesome to have a second half bath, wish that was an option at more hotels. The main bath, very roomy, with a huge dressing area, was a little odd in that, while there was a door to the toilet, there was no door to the tub/shower. Not a big deal, as it was around a corner providing a little privacy, it's still a weak design decision. Huge balcony with ocean front views that go on forever. A few chairs and a table, but a bit under furnished. Still quite a treat for the view, breeze and privacy. Never even slightly tempted to leave the property during our stay. Over a 4 night stay, we visited nearly every bar and restaurant option, and never felt like we were having to "make do". Pool - the kiddie pool was closed for renovations, so children took over the main pool all day. If you're not a tolerant direct parent, you're not gonna get in that water, if you know what I mean. Overall the pool and chairs were pretty crowded, so almost worth the premium to have rented a cabana for 8-2 one day. Lots more room and comfort, both lounge chairs and couch seating, TV, snacks and drinks.

In our experience, hotels usually designate "dog friendly" rooms that are often in undesirable locations of the hotel. We did not feel that way here. There were dogs everywhere! Prob just as many dogs as kids!!! Check in was a bit rough...our room was not ready till about an hour after check in time. We were exhausted from a short night of sleep and delayed plane ride --just wanted to get to our room. We had to check on the status twice. Not what we expected!! The second person we talked to was very friendly and apologetic. They said they would comp us for the trouble by reducing the daily charge but I never saw this on my bill. This was disappointing. I was surprised they said they would do that so maybe they tried but weren't allowed. Who knows! The rooms were fine - nothing fancy and a bit outdated. Everything was very clean tho. And the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the nice coffee station and fire table on our patio. The restaurants they have are pretty good. We really enjoyed getting room service - much easier with our pup. We stopped by the gym to fill up our water bottles and they have a great water station and fruit bowls. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely and friendly. They were happy to give us tips about the area and recommendations too. The location is unbeatable- right on the beach. We enjoyed morning walks to see the sunrise. And it's close to Fernandina Beach which was such a charming area. We would def stay here again!!!!

I wanted to visit the Cumberland Island National Seashore (reviewed separately) and didn't want to spend the 900-1000 plus dollars per night (with a two night minimum) to stay at the one crumbling inn on the island. This is truly like stepping back into the 20s and 30s. Lots of old wood, that slightly musty smell (but not unpleasant). The desk attendants were super kind and helpful. I stayed in room 15, Cross Creek. I chose it because it looked directly out onto the water. The bathroom was clean, the shower was hot. People who are tall might struggle a little, as it's a bit of a short shower. The bed was very comfy and I loved how soft it was, and appreciated the soft blankets. There are multiple configurations of rooms here--queens, fulls, twins, double beds. Each is named after a famous guest or situation. Basic cable TV and that's okay! They do a sack lunch for the island (no food to buy on the island) if you order the night before. There is a restaurant downstairs (reviewed separately) and a small, quaint lobby. Tonight we are staying at a comfort inn in Bowie Maryland. This was our first leg of our trip. We planned our next stop at the Comfort Inn at Kings Bay Naval Base. We did go thru Price Line to make the reservation. We inadvertently put the wrong date in. We booked for the 27th instead of the 28th. It was in the afternoon so not terribly concerned. We just call Comfort Inn to change the date. Right? Wrong!!!! Comfort Inn said it had to be done thru Price Line. Price Line did reach out to Comfort Inn and Comfort Inn said they would not do it. Price Line said their hands are tied if Comfort Inn says no. Well we are out 125.97. We will be ok. But a learning experience. I would not recommend the Comfort Inn at Kings Bay. Now here is the sad part. As there are many motels in the area what are the chances we will do business or recommend any Comfort Inn? We probably won't. This is the one bad apple analogy. There are sooooo many other motels in the area. Choose them. Marriotts are nice and they have wicked good breakfasts. Choose them. I hope the 125.97 puts them over the top for their earnings this month. You are welcome.
