This place seems to go downhill each time I stay here. There are some things I like but my "don't…read morelike" list is growing longer. Like: - Full kitchen (sink, stove, fridge, microwave, coffee pot) - Plates, bowls, glassware, silverware - Full size ironing bed and iron - Furniture (sitting area, Queen bed, dresser, etc.) - Cable with HBO - Pool - Laundry facilities - Grill area Dislikes: - My room had an old cigarette smell to it (I had to febreeze my luggage when I got home) - I counted AT LEAST 10 cigarette burn marks throughout the unit - The linoleum was sticky feeling - Everything looked clean until you looked at it harder (food splatters, dirty microwave, etc.) - 27" tube TV (some have LCD's with DVD - alas, neither of my rooms have). - Office hours on the weekend (the most likely time you will probably check in) - Overall 20 year old + look and feel to the rooms and furniture - WIFI - wow! If you're there during the day, you'll have decent connectivity. Come about 5 it begins to slow down and after 8? Non-existent or it looks like you're connected but you'll never be able to actually STAY online! - Complimentary soap but no shampoo - My toilet would make a bubbling sound each morning. I made the mistake of flushing once and it overflowed into the room. Uhhh...don't do that! I stayed here in two separate rooms on two ocassions. A co-worker had my old room and told me he had a mouse hole in his closet wall (boo - I've always wanted a pet, lucky guy). It just feels half-clean and maintained. I'll probably give this place one last try but will DEFINITELY look for other options after that if the experience is the same.

We had flat screen tv with plenty of Channels and the staff were all very nice and helpful. Loved that you were allowed to use the pool 24 hours. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

It was away from the hubbub of Old Town Fernadina, yet an easy drive to attractions. The views of sunrises from the 2nd floor deck were awesome! Our room was neat, clean and had everything we needed; 2 very comfortable queen-size beds, plush pillows, good T.V. with a decent range of channel selections, a little refrigerator, and a 4-cup coffee pot with supplies. From our room, it was a short and easy walk to the beautiful beach. I enjoyed lazing around in the Adirondack chairs facing the beach of the patio area on the first floor. The pool looked nice and very clean, but it was too chilly to swim with a cold front moving through. This was a great value, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and I would definitely stay here again!

The Amelia Schoolhouse Inn is a quaint boutique hotel. As a history teacher, I appreciated the old…read morearchitecture and school decor of the building. My husband and I stayed in room 9. The room and bathroom were very spacious and the ceiling was high. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. A continental breakfast was provided every morning. Upstairs, there was an ice machine and Keurig coffee maker which I appreciated as I brought my own K-cups from home. Also, our room had a mini-fridge and freezer combo. This was a plus due to being a gluten-free person and having to bring my own breakfast food and coffee creamer. On Saturday night, a lady named, Shell, performed in The Principal's Office Bar. She was really good and even took requests. My husband and I would definitely stay here again. I do have a few suggestions. Everyday, 4 towels were placed in the bathroom, but only 2 washcloths. I asked twice for 2 more to be put in my room, but that didn't happen. One evening, a sweet bartender grabbed extra washcloths for us. Also, a hand-held sprayer would be nice to have in the shower as the soft water made it hard to remove soap from my body and shampoo and conditioner from my hair. Additionally, the steps on the side of the building near the ramp have metal strips placed on them, and they become very slippery when it rains. When we left one afternoon, it was raining. My husband slipped and fell down the steps. So, maybe a non-slip material could be added to the steps. Lastly, the pool was full of leaves the five days we stayed at the Inn. I never saw anyone do any maintenance to the pool. There were towels out on Saturday for pool use, but none of the other days. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend the Inn to others.

My sister and I were dressed in average bikinis for women in our early 20s (nothing too cheeky or revealing but skin was showing). Staff were very quick to politely tell us we were not up to dress code. The staff was polite about it, but the rule itself is old fashioned and not at all with the times. As a young woman its NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find a quality modest bikini that doesnt show a little butt. Out of touch rules that disproportionately affect women. Very disappointing to see the sexist turn the ocean club has made.

Amelia Island Plantation is a 1,350-acre Florida beach resort. My husband and I stayed here in…read moreearly December and the weather was surprisingly nice, although not nice enough to swim in the water. The area is very remote and quiet. At the resort there are acres of villas, a 3.5 mile strip of private beach and they are completing a second hotel by the end of 2012. The resort does offer a shuttle service so it is easy to get around the resort without jumping into your car. The resort provides many amenities including a spa, gym, hotel pool, restaurants, tennis courts, golf, a few shops. I used the spa during our visit and was disappointed at the lack of amenities at the spa. I was expecting to spend several hours at the spa, but there was no jacuzzi hot tub, steam room or dry sauna so once my spa service was finished I just showered and left. The spa should reduce their prices if they are not going to provide any of these typical spa amenities. I also worked out at the resort's fitness center during my stay. The gym was small, but had a decent selection of weight machines and the cardio equipment included built in tv sets. The locker room amenities were pretty much nonexistent so I ended up not showering in the locker room and took the shuttle back to my room so I could shower there instead. Overall, we had a nice and relaxing vacation and enjoyed being lazy and getting room service, but the area was just a little too quiet for my taste. I would only consider returning to the Amelia Island Plantation if they update and remodel the facilities on-site.

We even got there after their happy hour ended by a half hour, and without even asking, the front desk girl offered to get us a glass of wine, which we did do. And in contrast to another review, the red wine was good. Not top of the line, but definitely not gross. It was your average house wine from any upscale restaurant. The location was perfect for us. On the beach, easy access. They had beach chairs and umbrellas and beach towels if needed. The views from their deck are stellar. They also had enough parking. Also, there is an elevator from the parking area, so getting luggage to room is easy. Here's the only issue I had. When you book on their website, it clearly states what's included in your stay with your room. A few things listed are: breakfast, beach chairs/umbrellas, towels. HOWEVER, when I went to checkout and pay online, there is an 'AMENITY' fee! They describe this as a fee for the beach chairs and towels, etc. Please don't tell me it's included with the rental of my room, and then charge me for it at checkout. It now becomes NOT INCLUDED and I am in fact paying for it extra! I was really going between the 3 star review & the 4. I do not appreciate being deceived. I had spent a lot of time looking at where we wanted to stay, so at that point, I just went through with it and paid. Also, the only other confusing thing, is that I thought they had provided bfast there. They do have coffee (really good coffee btw). They also had pastries at bfast that they get from a local bakery. My husband had an apple danish type thing and he really enjoyed it. But they offer us a $30 voucher to one of two places in town for bfast. We chose the garden cafe. It was good. But of course you spend more than the $30 for basic bfast, oj & coffee. Would I go back? Most likely yes. Would I recommend to family & friends? Yes

They allowed our service dog free of charge, and it a great place to stay. If I had one piece of constructive criticism it was that because the rooms were tiled when you're coming up and down from the beach or outside, you feel all the sand and everything on the floor. Maybe just having doormats at the front door of the room would help alleviate some of that. But that wasn't annoying enough for me to not want to stay there again.
