Rooftop bar is under construction right now but looks like it's scheduled to reopen this month. I spotted the gym on the first floor (did not participate this round lol). There's also a marketplace with a fun retro, 60s vibe right by the front desk -- that's the only spot with a microwave, but the rooms do have refrigerators. My room was a basic one, but it was perfect for me. The decor is definitely unique -- between the wallpaper, the psychedelic rug, and the comic-book-style pillows, it really gave me that fun, graphic "hero mode activated" vibe. I noticed people mentioning privacy concerns about the glass doors at the shower and the [much darker/almost obscured] glass door that shuts the toilet area [and yes the door does slide shut all the way] but anyone Im sharing a hotel room with has already seen it all so I was unbothered by it lol My one "thing" though is there are handheld clothes steamers in the room versus a traditional iron. Couple that with no pant hangers with clips and it's not the best situation to iron pants for work. Went back to the front desk this morning to make a purchase from the marketplace and again, the staff was friendly and helpful. There's a little area to buy some essentials and snacks in the lobby too. We stayed on the first floor and had no issues with noise or anything. Lots of parking in the lot as well. A much cheaper alternative for us instead of staying in Newport. Good price and great stay!

The website vacationnewport.com or eastislandreserve.com is very nicely done and it was easy to make our reservation. The staff communication was prompt and clear. I like the fact that they make you verify your identity, both to protect their property and our safety. There were several informational emails and confirmations which I always appreciate, being somewhat compulsive. We drove here from Boston Logan airport. Unfortunately, with rush hour/Thanksgiving traffic it took over 2 hours. The drive back to the airport at a very early hour was just over an hour. Pulling up to this charming "village" hotel on a picturesque street, right next to a vineyard, was a breath of fresh air. The grounds are clean and welcoming. There are a variety of rentals available including suites, cottages and a full house (lodge). Each of the cottages have their own private parking spot. Entering the cottage we were not disappointed. Everything is bright and new. We rented a cottage that had a cozy living room, pull-out couch and kitchen with a dining island and half bath on the first floor. We always appreciate a coffee machine with a supply of pods. Upstairs, was a roomy bedroom with its own full bathroom. I loved the large vanity with space for his and her toiletries. (I hate tiny sinks which require you to put your stuff on the toilet or balance them on a window sill!) There were thoughtful touches such as a brand new sponge and dish soap in the kitchen, complementary toiletries and laundry detergent for the stacked washer-dryer upstairs, attached to the main bedroom. One other thing I must add is that it was one of the best showers I've ever had in a hotel. Great pressure, very fast hot water and a wonderful soaker shower head. We never had a chance to enjoy the common amenities, the swimming pool or spa. They appear to be really nice. The hotel and surrounding area was pleasantly quiet the entire stay. There are some really nice restaurants and grocery markets to stock your kitchen nearby. We had one small issue the first day. We could not turn on the televisions and noticed one of the light bulbs was out. We called the office. We spoke to Aggie who within minutes was in the unit, even though it was the day before Thanksgiving and I'm sure she was incredibly busy. She cheerfully fixed them and called somebody to change the light bulb. The previous guests had messed with the cable connections behind the TVs to stream or play games and left them disconnected. Twenty minutes after that, a very nice maintenance man came and changed the light bulb. This was such a refreshing change from a standard hotel and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. If we return to see family for next Thanksgiving or any other occasion, we will definitely be staying again. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Posting a review on behalf of my partner to let potential customers know of a potentially…read morefraudulent business practice. I booked a standalone unit through the East Island Reserve website, receiving confirmation via email of the booking. Their website states that an additional form is required to complete booking or the reservation would be cancelled. That form was never completed or submitted, so the booking should have been cancelled 7 days later, according to their own policy. The room charges showed up on our credit card, so we immediately called to cancel as other arrangements were made (no longer traveling to the area). The person on the phone stated that she could not cancel because it was booked through Expedia, which it most certainly was not. The invoice sent by East Island shows an Expedia confirmation number, but the booking confirmation we received by email from East Island's own website shows no mention of Expedia, and has a totally different confirmation number. Confronted with that fact, the customer service rep suggested we take it up with Expedia. To no one's surprise, Expedia has no record of the booking, and the confirmation number we were provided returns no records in Expedia's database. Further, the booking made was for a standalone unit, and the invoice shows a room inside the hotel part of the complex - not at all what was booked. So we are now forced to dispute the charge with the credit card company. I give the rooms--that is, the stand alone tiny homes--5 stars. We have stayed there before and they are great. If I could give the service 0 stars, I would. Instead I give them 1 star for at least calling back, despite wringing their hands of responsibility for violating their own booking policy and refusing to acknowledge the potential for shady, back door use of Expedia, perhaps unsuspectingly linked to their own website to refuse cancellations. TLDR: Book East Island Reserve at your own risk; check your credit card statements thoroughly, and raise the red flag if you see anything related to Expedia if you did not book through that service.

Like General Douglas MacArthur, we returned nine months after our initial stay for four additional…read morenights. This visit was not quite the same with several notable differences. The room was smaller likely because this time we booked a king whereas last time we had a pair of queens. There were other differences, I secured a much lower room rate with breakfast included by booking early. Gone is the resort fee of $20 plus tax per night previously paid, new is a self parking (we saw no valet) fee of $10 plus tax. Included in the prior resort fee was a $15 daily credit for the Helmway, their in-house restaurant. The lawn behind the hotel where I previously walked our dog is gone to be replaced by an in ground pool, fire pit and gardens, however, the "improvements" scheduled to be completed in June were a work-in-progress though we observed little in the way of work during our stay. A real positive, noted previously as well, was the quality of the daily room servicing. Since we departed and returned to our room relatively early each day, we requested early room service which was kindly accommodated. On the negative side of the ledger, our mattress slipped partially off its frame whenever we read and/or watched TV. Also, the lighting fixtures beside the bed were not very bright so I had difficulty reading. Another annoying feature was the micro sized toilet paper. Overall we were relatively happy with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this property to others seeking pet friendly accommodations on Aquidneck Island.

Yes, you can text the proprietors, but that's not sufficient. The prices at the "gift shop" are inflated. More attempts to sell stuff in the room, too much marketing.
