We were met in the parking lot by employees who led us to the venue entrance. The weeding took place outside behind the building with a pond and woods in the backdrop. It was a beautiful day and made the occasion even more attractive. I'm sure the pictures will be amazing! Cocktail hour and appetizers were hosted outside the main building partially under an overhang. Games like Cornhole and Large Jenga were available. Music was also piped into the area. Dinner was served in the building which has seating on a main floor and in an upper balcony. There is also a good sized bar in the back. After diner the party was moved back outside so the main dining area could be turned into a dance area. Because the weather was so great I'm pretty sure it never moved back in! Music and dancing outside on a warm summer night was perfect! (And no mosquitoes) Late night pizzas were prepared on a wood fire grill and served to cap off the evening. Voted the best wedding venue many times over. I can see why!

From the second we stepped on the beautiful grounds of HMP we felt seen, wanted, and accepted for who we are. The planning process can be arduous, but the HMP team was there every step of the way to answer questions, provide advice, and respond in real time to changes up to and including the day of the wedding. As a former bartender I had some pointed questions and requests for Brian, he exceeded my expectations both in the guidance he provided in choosing quantities and variety if beverages, but also in the quality of the product they churned out the night of our wedding. Stephanie was so kind and welcoming and knowledgeable. She had recommendations for anything we asked her opinion on and the result thanks to her was a gorgeous day at a gorgeous venue that we could sit back, relax, and enjoy. Mackenzie's attention to detail and accessibility leading up to and on the day of the wedding was phenomenal. We could go on and on about how much we loved working with the HMP team. You hope you only get married once, but these guys made the experience so fun and our day turned out so gorgeous that we'd do it all again if it meant working with this team. This place has three escape rooms to solve. Their entry-level room is a mission to Mars, their…read moremiddle-level room is a quest to get to shelter because a tornado is coming, and their hard-level room is a quest to save yourself from the sinking Titanic. If you haven't done escape rooms before, you should definitely do the Mars one. It's fun for beginners. It's also cheaper and takes a shorter time duration. There aren't as many puzzles to solve as the middle level or most difficult one. But, it's still quite fun to do. The most fun is in the tornado room. They had an option to do it with the lights on or off, and we chose to leave the lights on. There is enough going on already, and we didn't need to be distracted by having it be too dark. The puzzles are a little tougher, and this one takes a full hour to finish. The theme is great, and the variety of things to solve is perfect. It's not just a routine of solving one number code after another. The toughest one is the Titanic room. And, I can't help but lower my rating of this place from 5 stars to only 4 stars as a result. I don't mind that it's tougher. That's fine, and that's not the reason I am deducting a star. There's a difference between making something tougher, vs. making something that absolutely nobody would understand. This room is around half of the size of the tornado room, yet, it has double the amount of things to solve. And, frankly, some of the puzzles are just a bit too cryptic for my liking. They just went a little too far with confusing things to figure out, that didn't really lead anywhere. It's a shame, because 70% of this room has some really great features that most people will really have fun with. But, about 30% of the stuff you need to solve is just impossible without taking clues from the staff, and even after getting the clues, it still doesn't make much sense. And, they really need to make this one 1.5 hours long to accommodate all of the things you need to finish. Overall, though, I'd recommend any of these rooms, even the difficult Titanic room. I just think that room needs a little more time allotted, and a bit of tweaking to a few of the puzzles to make them more reasonable.

Buy one pack of crackers to feed the goats and Bison when you enter. * use your quarters to buy deer feed from the vending machines. The Barboo Hills is a magical place. As the very eastern extension of Wisconsin's driftless region,…read moremuch of the range was never covered by the glaciers. Today, much or the range is forested, however, those woodlands are very young indeed. When the region was settled, the eastern range was oak savanna and open oak woodland. For nearly 150 years most of this area was grazed or planted to hay fields. One notable exception was Durward's Glen. Originally settled by a blacksmith, the Glen was early sold to a painter form Milwaukee who loved maple trees. In the 1920s, as the last of the Durward clan died, the property was donated to the Catholic church, which built a seminary on the property. Though the seminary closed, the property has been owned and operated for nearly 40 years by a non-profit organization whose members include local residents who have treated the Glen to a great extent as their local parish. While no longer a church property, its chapel remains a consecrated offertory. The public is welcomed to visit, hike its extensive trail system and reflect at the stations of the cross, as well as its several shrines. Anglers can try their luck in the Class 1 trout stream that flows through the property. Spring wildflowers and well maintained grounds provide abundant beauty and solitude. Durward's Glen plays host several times a year to public events, including Bagpipes in the Glen each summer, as well as a beautiful outdoor holiday light show each Christmas season. Groups are welcome to book the conference facilities, and dormitory style accommodations are available for travelers seeking quite place to reflect. I find Durward's Glen a singular place; a unique opportunity to slow down and get close to nature in the midst of a vacationland that can otherwise be quite overwhelming.

This review is for the grounds only…read more I enjoy Photography very much. I grew up in nearby Portage and knew of Durwards Glen but I never knew it was open to the public. I visited on Sunday 9/20/2015 and it was very peaceful. This place had a very tranquil atmosphere. Your worries melt away here. The trails are well maintained and beautiful to say the least. The facilities look well kempt. There is an artist cottage you can rent for $150 per night and it looks inspiring like a place you could get away from it all. This whole place is magic and I'm not what you normally consider to be the spiritual type. Admission is free. I'd say to plan on spending an hour or two walking around.
