I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Lumberton, NC, on 1/18/25 in room 215 and experienced several unacceptable issues: - The hallway and room reeked of cigarette smoke. - The shower drain appeared unfinished with visible caulking. -The body wash dispenser was empty. - A loud, persistent beeping in the hallway disrupted sleep. - The bed and sheets were of poor quality. These problems are far below Marriott's standards. This would have been a sub par experience at a Motel 6. Finally there was a large photo of J Willard Marriott in the lobby and I feel it would be respectful to take his picture out of this dump of a motel pretending to be a Marriott. read more

No complain about the service. From front desk to the housekeeping and other staff they're all nice and friendly. But my complain is the hotel itself. Its outdated that the rooms looks so old. This hotel needs a lot of renovation. If you walk into the lobby they make it so classy like all other marriot hotels but its a trick. You walk into their rooms then you see what I mean. They offer free breakfast from 6am to 9am but the stuff they serve are tasteless except their orange juice. We got some bagel and breakfast sandwich, its just taste like you don't wanna eat it. I chose the hotel because I have an emotional support animal, and the website stated there would not be a fee. When I checked in I showed my emotional support animal card to the front desk and she stated there was a $75 charge. The next day I spoke to the manager Renee McCorkie and she charged me $95! Lastly, the hotel is in the middle of a construction zone and is unsafe and noisy. read more

My wife and I were traveling in October 2023, and decided to stop for the night in Lumberton, NC. I attempted to book a room for the night from the car but was unsure about whether it had gone through on the app. I called the Lumberton hotel and they told me that they would be happy to book it and that it looked like I had accidently booked three rooms. They reassured me that since I had made these reservations so recently (within 10 min from the call) that they would cancel the rooms and reverse any charges. When we received our credit card statement we saw that we had been charged. My wife contacted the hotel and after several months of back and forth, the General Manager finally got back to us and said that even though the front desk had canceled the reservations that we would be charged (even though we obviously didn't use those extra room). Stayed here for 1 night on a road trip. Hotel is older, the lobby has been remodeled but rooms need updating. No hairdryer in the bathroom. Room smelled damp. Definitely had not been thoroughly cleaned there was change and plastic pieces on the floor. Also, there seem to be people living in this hotel. I only stayed here 1 night since they honored the government rate during the weekend. The front desk staff was very accommodating - I was able to check in early (12 pm) Friday afternoon and they granted my late checkout request of 3 pm; truly grateful they worked with me. The hotel/room is outdated - they would truly benefit from a renovation. The room didn't feel like the cleanest, but it served its purpose. The majority of Marriott hotels offer apps (netflix, showtime ..) but this one doesn't. Breakfast is included during your stay. The location is right of I-95 (no noise complaints) and directly beside Cracker Barrel! Two starts is generous - I added the second star for the early check-in / late check-out accommodation. When leaving the hotel I noticed small bumps on my face, I highly suspect these are from bed bugs. I did not see any inspects - but the lesion on my face is enough for me. Never again! Our room was on the eastern end of the building. The noise from the interstate was horrible. The AC unit sounded akin to a dentist's drill each time it cycled on......for 5 minutes every 10 minutes! (Yes, I timed it as I counted passing tractor-trailer rigs zooming by......)The front desk had no ear plugs available. As the hotel was full to capacity, changing rooms was not an option. Ok. I'm lifetime platinum elite at Marriott and have been all over this country staying exclusively at Marriott for years and THIS hotel makes me question the whole business. Check in took 15 minutes as the employee behind the desk was new and seemed alcompletely unsupervised. After check in and moving into the room there was food from the previous guests visit in the refrigerator. There was garbage in the ice bucket. So either the cleaning staff is overworked or is completely inept. We asked for a replacement ice bucket and about three hours later got another one. When our food got warm in the fridge and we noticed that it wasn't working at all they said we would have to change rooms to have a working fridge. I asked if she was serious and I was told that she is the only one working and she "don't know how to work on fridgerators." The front desk employee didn't sound surprised by this at all so I suspect they already knew and put us in that room anyway. The breakfast was odd with free standing, unrefrigerated milk and the coffee was undrinkable as it was full of coffee grounds. Also stepped on bugs on the floor in the breakfast area. The worst part of this is that I wasted thousands of Marriott points for this stay. This establishment is an embarrassment to Marriott. You're better off at the days inn. read more

First...my sister and I arrived VERY late (2am) and Stephan, the guy who checked us in deserves 10 stars and a medal for dealing with us...2 tired seniors who have been on the road for 13 hours. He was friendly and kind and patient. Now for the room. Can I give it "minus stars"?? It smelled like someone had a cat living in there. It lacked some basics (a box of tissues). Ok, not soooo horrible. But the clincher??!!! ROACHES. Need pics? Ok. You got 'em. So back to Stephen who did everything he could to help. He offered us the only remaining room which was on the first floor right by the exit. Gonna be noisy in the morning. And now it's 2:30am these 2 seniors are beyond tired. Well! This 2nd room is a "handicapped accessible" with a king bed. We had requested 2 queen size beds. We're not a couple. The room also "features" a very YUCKY accessible shower (with the previous guest's used soap bar still there), dirty floor, disgusting "curtain", and a plastic chair that I guarantee had not been disinfected or even cleaned. Ever. So clearly we'll have to live without a shower for one night. Need a tissue? Too bad. No tissues in this room either. I go visit Stephan again at the front desk to get a box of tissues. I need to blow my nose. And to cry. It's now 2:45am, and he is still amazing. He should be promoted to Director of Guest Relations because he is calm and nice through it all. MARRIOT...you should be ashamed at the condition of this hotel! Or at least of the condition of both rooms that I experienced. This is a busy location (midpoint between NY and Florida immediately next to I-95) and typically sold out. There is no excuse for these disgusting conditions. So get these rooms in order, re-train the housekeeping staff, and promote Stephan. By the way, a couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Santee SC and that location was absolutely lovely, as expected. ALL of your locations should be equally and reliably 5 star. It should not be a hit or miss situation. read more

We have stayed at this location twice now and are very impressed. It's the perfect stop when driving too and from Florida for us. The hotel is extremely clean and modern. The staff is always kind and helpful. They even helped me find my lost Fitbit!! They also provide free complimentary breakfast which is great! They do have an outside pool. The location is easy to get to, right off I-95, and conveniently right next to a Cracker Barrel, makes getting dinner when we arrive nice and easy! It's literally a minute walk across the parking lot away! We look forward to making this our permanent hotel to stop at when we do our family vacations going forward! read more

This hotel is very close to I95. My room was closest to the highway. It was a nightmare. All night, truck traffic kept me awake. I probably would have gotten more sleep in my car. My room was relatively clean, but the carpets were badly stained. Overall, it was a terrible experience, not up to Marriott standards. Stay away from room 103 or any room in the low 100s. Clean enough though sheets were inside out on king bed. Tv cable sucks....in and out and sketchy service. No tissues in the bathroom and only 3 towels when we reserved and requested extra towels. I was driving from Florida to Pennsylvania and decided to stop at Fairfield in because I always had good service. When I got to this Fairfield Inn I thought it was a Motel 6 or Super 8. I got their about 10pm, the front desk clerk was very nice and assigned me a room on the 1st floor. when I got to the room I went into the bathroom and saw bugs (2) in the shower and a very little bug running along the crack on the tile floor. I closed the bathroom door and wedged a towel under the door. the next morning I was working and I hear a knock at the door, it's the Terminix pest control man. I didn't even tell anybody about the bug problem, I was waiting until I was checking out. I let the Terminix man in and say I guess your doing the whole hotel and he said "NO" I just doing this room, so the hotel knew that the room had bugs and still rented out to me. When i went to check out i told the girl at the counter that they rented me a room with a bug problem and knew it, She told me to wait and go and get the manager but came out and told me that the manage was on the phone and would call me as soon as they got off, well its 6 days later and I never got the call. At least with Motel 6 and Super 8 you know your getting a run down room. Also i forgot when I was looking at the bed in the morning I noticed the sheets had holes in them. Marriott should send in a Executive to fix this hotel and the management. read more

Well this will be last time I stay here. It's really a 2.5 star. I am a gold member for Marriott. Upon arrival desk agent was on her cell phone, ask if checking in, phone still at ear has a hard time spelling my name as I repeat it a few times...maybe put your cell phone down. Finally she says I'll call u back put s phone down and works on my check in...in the mean time picks up land line and says sorry for making you hold can you hold for another min. I ask for water says we don't give that out no more. She ask what floor I'd like, I respond, she hands me the key and explains breakfast. No mention of Marriott status. Rooms are just ok, changing tv channels a chore the remotes are horrible. The beds are hard, sheets are thin and one a small light weight comforter. read more

First of all, I would like to thank Jimmy Lowury for accommodating my family and I on our visit to Lumberton Fairfield Inn. We were book at another local hotel which was garbage, I won't say the hotel because I posted my reviews regarding that situation. My daughter spoke with a young lady at the Fairfield Inn in Lumberton, and she told my daughter to go online and book the rooms and she would make sure that we got them. The next day we spoke with Mr. Lowury and he help my family get two rooms early which help because my daughter has stage four cancer, and she really need to rest. We were in the area to attend a family reunion and when we came back Mr. Lowury explained that he couldn't get the last room near the other two, but we were still on the same floor which was fine. The rooms were clean and smell so much better than the last one and as long as my family was comfortable, and the rooms were clean that was the main thing. When we come back to Lumberton, we will not stay in any other hotel, but the Fairfield Inn I have learned my lesson. Thank you Mr. Lowury and staff for your kindness and professionalism. read more

I'm not impressed with this property. The people at the front desk were nice enough but this property is definitely not up to standard for your usual Fairfield Inn. First off, the wasn't the cleanest. I've been in plenty of hotels and I don't expect spotless, however, the bigger stuff should be easy to keep clean. The room had kind of a musty smell to it, and the front desk solution was a can of Febreeze. They did offer to move me to another room, but it was a queen room instead of the king size, so I did not want to make that move. The bathroom is worn down and the stoppers didn't work in the sink or the tub. The sink's didn't work and the bath's did not stay open. I had to cram a washcloth in it to keep it open for draining. The cleaning ladies disposed of the towels that I used, however they did not replenish them. Not a good thing! They also did not replenish my coffee. The coffee machine was in pretty bad shape in the room but at least still work. It should've been replaced and the coffee supplies of the replenished. I asked at the front desk and they told me I could go to the stand and grab some more cups. I had to practically beg for them to give me some coffee so that I wouldn't have to go down to the lobby to get it in the morning. In the lobby did not have individual creamers so it'll still had to go downstairs to use it. The wake up call I had requested was not given for either morning. Fortunately my cellphone alarm was set and I didn't miss my schedule. A lot of these gripes may sound minor, but put together it created a less than stellar stay. This town has lots of options and I will go elsewhere next time. read more

We made guaranteed reservations for the Night of June 24 online on the Fairfield Inn website. When we arrived at the hotel very late (which is why we wanted guaranteed reservations) we were informed that are reservations were for September 24 and were made by some outside vendor that Fairfield apparently utilized. So now we have to pay for a room on some random day in September and drive around at midnight trying to find a vacant room. The hotel clerk was not the least bit sympathetic or helpful. He made it clear that he could care less and seemed to enjoy that two very fatigued people were unhappy. We will not trust a Fairfield Inn in the future. read more

I've stayed at this Fairfield a few times during travels down I-95. The lobby is greatly improved over the last few years, which isn't uncommon for a Marriott to spruce up the lobby and let the rest of the hotel go slack. Overall, the room was okay. It wasn't until the next morning that I noticed the blood stains on the fitted sheet. No, not fresh blood, but clearly washed and still visible stains on the sheets. I would have shrugged off the nasty sheets if it weren't for the really nasty breakfast I was met with later that morning. The breakfast was off to a bad start when my first sip of my 2% milk was sour. I looked at the date on the carton and it was clearly two days prior to the expiration date. I warned my fellow travellers to beware of the milk and proceeded to eat my powdered eggs and cold sausage patty. It was about the time I was stirring up my yogurt that it dawned on me, what makes milk go sour two days before the expiration date? Poor refrigeration! I stopped stirring my yogurt and threw it all away. My fellow travellers and I immediately left the hotel and grabbed breakfast elsewhere. All I can say about this Fairfield is traveller beware and don't eat the food. read more

I decided to break into the Marriott world - became a rewards member. They did a decent job renovating the rooms and lobby. It seems a little disengaged when you drive into the lot. The lobby entrance was small and out of sight - little design problem. But the lobby itself is cool and modern. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. The pool was closed - not good for my kids poor planning on Fairfield for their cleaning schedule. The shower presented a problem since the shower curtain itself was too short and didn't provide enough coverage for the tub. I had to mop up the mess. Whoever installed this curtain should be fired. It was a definite act of laziness and negligence. I contacted the front desk she apologized but never addressed the shower curtain. (1) person took shower (3) to go - this should be fun. (See pic). I gave it 2 stars because I had high standards for Marriott. read more

Clean. Feels more like a Courtyard than a Fairfield. This is pretty much the only place in the area clean enough to stay. It all feels very Marriott. The breakfast isn't gross either. Real eggs and bacon and waffles. Not fantastic, but unlike those frozen egg discs that so many of these cheap breakfasts provided by so many of these crappy little roadside hotels. read more

Super friendly staff, super dirty hotel. Usually when I'm on the road and I need to stop for the night I can trust the Marriot Brand of hotels. Checking was a breeze and the lobby looked new and nice. However, the room itself was so gross, I wouldn't take my shoes off. It looked like the bathroom floor hadn't been mopped in forever and the bathtub had all sorts of mold in the grout. I got freaked out when I saw a huge bug in the shower and a stain on the bed spread. Not stopping here again. Yuck! read more

3 stars for being, "A-Okay." No matter how hard I drive down or up I-95, I end up here. Stayed here probably 10-12 times already. It's not the cheapest nor best neighborhood to stay at, but it's a short drive off of I-95. There is a smutty Lion's Den Adult store near by as are other low brow establishments, but ironically a Cracker Barrel in back. Parking at this location can run dry quickly as well. Grab those dollies quick as they go by quicker. The showers often spill out the front no matter what you do with the curtain and flow around the toilet. The TV's are a bit older, but do have HDMI inputs. You can get hints of southern courtesy from the staff whom I got to know over the years. The walls and ceiling are moderately thick, as I can still hear my neighbors, but not clearly. I have found thinner walls and ceilings at other Marriotts so I consider this one the middle ground. read more

The hotel is right off 95 which is great. The general area is lacking of any immediate restaurants but that isn't a bother to me. The hotel itself is clean. The bed I had was king-sized and bouncy. The AC in the room worked well and the size of the actual room was adequate. Breakfast is complimentary and includes the usual: eggs, cereal, toast, sausage, yogurt, and fruit. Drinks included are milk, orange juice, apple juice, and coffee. Check out is at noon which helps families who have trouble getting their kids to hurry up and get ready. read more

Location is good.. right off 95. But this Fairfield is dated. The room Is damp feeling.. and I smelled a mild mold smell. The controls n air/ heat Wal unit do not seem to work at all. So I'm assuming you can't control it. ‍ Rug has a few stains on it. Bed and pillows are clean , tub/ shower is dated. The plug sockets in the lamp next to my bed are loose So when you plug something in.. it just slips out. If I wasn't so tired.. I would leave. read more

Rooms were large and king size bed was really comfortable. $100 a night mid week wasn't bad. Everything was perfect. We plan on keeping track of this location for future stops. Knew we wanted to stop halfway back to DC from Florida and this was a great choice. The hotel is right off 95 so it's very easy to get back on the road to start your drive. The rooms are very quiet (even ours which was close to the elevator), very clean and the beds are comfy. The staff is friendly and the rate includes free wifi and hot breakfast with eggs, ham, waffles, bagels & English muffins, yogurt & fresh fruit. Rate was less than $90 the night we stayed. The parking lot is a little small so if you have a truck or trailer just talk to the front desk. They mentioned you can park in the Cracker Barrel next door. Oh and watch out for the pesky bed frame. Overall, an excellent one night stay while passing through. Outstanding service from all staff: front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and those cleaning public areas. They could not have been any nicer or more helpful. A real asset to the property. Really good self-serve breakfast with make-your-own waffle iron and other fresh, tasty selections. Room was exactly what you expect from a Fairfield Inn. Basic, clean and nice. Only reason not 5 stars is the room seemed damp with a vague mildew smell. I just think it's a challenge to keep a first floor room completely dry in such a hot, humid climate. Maybe rooms on higher floors don't have the same problem? If we stayed longer than 12 hours, I would have asked for a different room and have no doubt that wouldn't have been a problem. read more
