Another angle on the hair clump
Dakota Darling W.

The poor place was understaffed when I viewed with my family in mid-May. The front desk clerk was also doing laundry and (I think- not 100% sure) cleaning rooms as well. My family has a Platinum Elite Membership (in case that matters, but regardless-) and we received very friendly service but probably due to their staffing problem our room wasn't as clean in places as it could be... For example- we pulled the chair at the desk in our room back to find a wad of human hair just chilling there. To make it worse, the hair-clump was found after we had just gotten take out and were trying to spread out and eat. Not very appetizing... Comfortable beds though, and neat clocks! They have clock faces on three sides so you don't have to sit up in bed to see the time.

This is the first hotel that when I did a mobile check in - it worked as it should. When I do mobile check ins, it still takes 10 mins at front desk. This hotel I did the mobile check in and I ran in to get the key and I had it in my hands within 1 minute. That's how mobile check in should work. We usually stay at a Residence Inn but since this hotel was less expensive we figured we would give it a try. It's a perfectly nice hotel and what surprised me was the room. It's not just a square room, it's a bedroom and the living room is somewhat separated. It's almost like a separate room - which I was very happy to see. The Fairfield serves warm cookies in the afternoon, it's a nice touch and they are super delicious. They also have a pool and a jacuzzi too in the hotel. The reason we stay at Residence Inn is because I am a morning person and they have a separate living room so I can get up, go into another room and not disturb my husband. At this hotel, I can go into another room and watch TV because their living room has their own tv - that's how separate the bedroom and the living room are. We would definitely consider staying here again.

You're warned that you'll be fined for not paying the parking fee of $14.00. At the front counter, I advised the hotel clerk that I was Deaf and to please face me when addressing me. When I asked about paying to park, I was told, "Yes, $14.00. In downtown Denver, it can be $50 or more." I replied, "But this isn't Denver; this is Loveland, and your parking lot is empty." Next, he said, "I see you booked our hearing-accessible room. Do you need it?" I thought, "Wait, what did you say?" He repeated himself, "I said you booked our hearing-accessible room. Do you need it?" I replied, "Why would I book it if I didn't need it? Besides, I just told you I was Deaf. Just because I can speak doesn't mean I can hear." It's typical that a majority of hearing people wrongfully assume that the ability to speak is connected with the ability to hear. I don't mind correcting people, but it's old. Next, I noticed that you had to use your room keycard to gain access to the floors. I've included a photo of this; it's a nice safety feature that I've often found in hotels in New York City to deter non-guests from floor access. As I always do, I took my black light to the room. You can go to the next level, and while the lights are out, use a hairdryer on the corners and headboard of the bed. Bugs are attracted to the heat. Just don't have it in full blast or too close. The room had USB ports and even a wireless charging pad for phones, which afforded this option. Finally, my refrigerator went out while I was at work. All my food went bad, but the hotel replaced my refrigerator around 9 pm.

The maintenance technician, who was in my suite ALL DAY Saturday 11/15, told me that the water in and water out hoses were installed backward. I noticed while he was there that the circuit breaker for the steam shower was turned off meaning that it was deliberately left disabled. The hotel staff therefore knew that the steam shower did not work, including when I checked in and told them that I have stayed there repeatedly because it's the closest hotel I've found with a steam shower (still two hours from home) and that I intended to spend much of the weekend in the steam shower. I have attempted to contact management (Nikhil and Angie) and they do not return my voicemails or my emails, and they have instructed the front desk to send me to voicemail instead of letting me speak to them. The steam shower is the only reason I have repeatedly stayed at this hotel (a total of nine nights) and it's the only reason I consider it to be worth the price. Management willingly allowed me to purchase something they knew they had no intention of delivering. This behavior borders on fraud. I seldom post reviews, and I almost never post negative reviews, but because of the way my bad experience has been ignored and dismissed, and because I've made significant good-faith effort to give hotel management an opportunity to make things right, I've decided to post a review in this case. UPDATE: Nikhil posted a reply on Google and TripAdvisor; I edited my review on Google but couldn't find a way to do so on TripAdvisor. He claimed to have informed me of the steam shower problem, and he also claimed to have offered me a partial discount for my trouble. Here is my update I posted on Google: UPDATE after hotel's response: Lies. Bald-faced lies. I was NOT informed of the issue with the steam shower; I called the front desk when I first tried to use the steam shower on the first night and they had no idea of an existing problem. Nikhil responded to my email on the second day, halfway through the time the maintenance tech was in my room (which went from 9 or 10 in the morning until at least 3 pm, and I wasn't told he wasn't returning until I called after 6 pm to ask, meaning my romantic getaway was on hold ALL DAY SATURDAY) and at that time Nikhil told me there was an issue, but that was not helpful because I had ALREADY told HIM that there was an issue. He pretended that he was informing me of the issue, when he only did that after I had informed HIM of the issue. NO REFUND OR DISCOUNT, PARTIAL OR OTHERWISE, WAS OFFERED OR DELIVERED. I strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel, because they can not be trusted to deliver what is promised (the steam shower is an amenity listed in the description, a very specific selling point justifying the cost of the room, and thus is not an "additional feature" which they can optionally choose not to provide). Not only that; when they do not provide what is promised, they are willing to flat out lie in a public post as evidenced in their response. Shame on you, Nikhil.

Not the humiliation of having to reach out to your busy doctor for a "teachers excuse". We should be told that when paying extra, not just an embedded notification in the reservation details AFTER prepaying. Ridiculous. And shame on you for this misleading practice.

Improvements can definitely be made, though. Long version - The 1st negative was when we arrived (around midnight) to a pitch-black parking lot; the only light came from the covered entryway & the stars. This was extremely concerning & dangerous. Luckily, we did not trip over anything. The 2nd negative was H2O dripping from the mini freezer & a lamp not working. Turned out the outlet was malfunctioning. Because it was so late & we had food to worry about, we moved the refrigerator to a working outlet & jammed it to the maximum level. Worked fine after that & kept our food & drinks nice & cold. The 3rd negative was your pillows. They were lumpy & very uncomfortable. Sure, we could have asked for more, but since every single one was lumpy, why bother hoping anything new would be better? The breakfast buffet was average, but it was a big benefit & appreciated since it was one less item to concern ourselves about (where do we eat? how far is it?). Our main purpose for the trip was to visit RMNP. La Quinta's location was perfect for that! It was a primo spot for the other places we visited (Devil's Backbone, The Stanley Hotel, Downtown Loveland, Benson Sculpture Garden). The pool was being repaired for whatever reason, so it was closed. Had this been important to us, we would have been upset but we did not book the reservation for the pool. We booked it for its location and everything worked out wonderfully. All in all, we were satisfied with La Quinta, but hopefully on our next visit, it will be to a well-lit parking lot, a working fridge, non-lumpy billows, and a more robust breakfast buffet.

It's close to the mountains and the Big Thompson river and near the entrance to the canyon. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed here while we were evacuated because of wildfires and they were so accommodating and gave us all the toiletries we forgot at no charge. They provided Dove body wash, shampoo, conditioner and soap. I needed toothpaste and some other toiletries that I had forgot which they provided. This place is pet friendly but also very clean with no weird smells. I am sensitive to smells and there were no smells from cleaning products or pets or anything. You couldn't even smell the wildfire smoke in the room, and it was bad outside, so they must have really good air filters. They also gave us a discounted rate because we were evacuees. I think it's awesome that they are so supporting of the local community during this stressful time. It was very comfortable and I will definitely recommend this hotel when we have guests staying in town! I wish we could have stayed longer but they didn't have the availability because there are so many evacuees looking for hotel rooms right now. Im not sure how they are only rated two stars but this hotel is much nicer than the three star hotel we are staying in now and was also more affordable, and would have been even without the discounted rate.
