Fortunately, we stumbled upon a pretty neat place with some live music to boot! The Jolly Inn has a kind, down-home Louisiana atmosphere. There are drunks, yes, but they're nice drunks. And you can never go wrong with a jukebox. The clincher for the 4-star rating, however, was that on Friday evenings the Jolly Inn has a "Cajun night" in the back hall that houses some great, lively Cajun music and food. It's fun for the whole family and cover is only $3. People young and old are there, and it's really a fun, wholesome atmosphere. Band starts playing around 6pm and ends just shy of 11pm. If you're lucky, Mr. Allie "Gator" will give you an 'honorary Cajun' certificate. He was married 39 years on the evening he played for us. Fun stuff.

It was very convenient to where I needed to be, and it is located right behind the Civic Center, so that would be great if you have an event there. The lobby area is very large with great seating options, and it really has a glam feel to it. Check in was very easy, and the delightful employee made sure I was quickly to my room. I was given complementary water, so that came in handy with hydrating! There is just one elevator on the side were I needed to go, so I suppose that could be an issue if there's large crowds or for busy check in/check out times. My king room was on the 4th floor. The room is very large and was very clean. A large flat screen, mini fridge, coffee set up, and all the other usual items were there. The AC works VERY well, and it did not have that overly damp hotel room feel. I walked around the hotel, and it has a nice indoor and outdoor pool, and large workout room that even has free weights, and some of the rooms even have balconies overlooking the pool. I weighed my nearby restaurant options, but decided to just eat in the hotel bar area (I missed happy hour, but they have some deals during that.) I was a bit shocked at the prices of the food -- VERY affordable. I went back and forth on a few items and, per the sway of the employee there, chose the quesadillas. I was very satisfied and walked out not spending too much on a drink and dinner. I would have spent more if I would have gone off site. Back to my room, it was very quiet all night - nothing woke me up. The bed was pretty comfortable, and the shower worked all as it should. The icing on the cake is a noon check out! I was able to race, attend (and receive) the race award ceremony, go back to to the room to clean up and lie down for a bit, and then head home by 11:30. That is SO convenient when you sweat all morning and have a long drive home. I will absolutely stay here again when my path leads me to Houma in the future!

I was repeatedly told there were no clean rooms. It's hard to believe housekeeping didn't clean one room between 11 to 3 and mysteriously at exactly 3pm all rooms were ready. If they hadn't been so busy walking around doing nothing they could have cleaned rooms as guest left. I believe it's a control/power trip thing that housekeeping has, maybe they don't realize without guest they wouldn't have a job. Once we were able to check in the room was in need of serious maintenance, I've posted pictures below. The bed was so hard my joints hurt when I got up the next morning.

Ok so this is an update of a review I made a few years ago, they have upgraded there internet, the…read morestaff is great, friendly, and eager to help, I love the gas grills they have outside to do a steak proper like, the rooms have clean comfortable mattresses, the A/C is cold, the showers are hot (low water pressure but I think all hotels do that these days) it's worth the price if you want a quiet place with a full size fridge, stove and even a dishwasher. Stay and enjoy!
