    big cocker roach

After being disgusted and having to cancel my reservation, I decided to stay at this hotel due to the Marriot reputation. Staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. I was all checked in and everything was going to be fine. However, when my guests and I bought in our luggage we thoroughly and found crumbs in the pull out couch bed, old sheets that were left by a former guest. Then the matter got worst, as later that evening as I am ready to retire for the evening, a huge cocker roach "water bug" was crawling on the ceiling. I called the front desk to notify them and ask for a Manager and was informed that they were sorry, however the manager will be back on Monday and I could take the Managers business card at the front desk and speak to him on Monday.

BEDBUGSSS... Beware of the bedbugs. I have stayed here for a 5 day business trip, and my room is #426. Felt so disappointed and they have bedbugs on the bed!!!!! At the least 5+ bedbugs. Sucks. Even the hotel manager helped me change to another room and gave me some points, but still bedbugs made me feel uncomfortable. 1 star for sure.

This hotel is disgusting. And the staff was the rudest I've ever dealt with and I travel a lot. They charge you for incidentals when there is NO drinks or snacks even in your room. We got to our room and there was a dirty towel with hair on it hanging in the shower. It was late so I was like oh gosh so gross. Whatever. But then the sink was fully stopped up and I couldn't brush my teeth. I called the front desk and the man there was super rude and hung up on me when I asked for another room. In the middle of the Coronavirus things should be extra extra clean. This hotel was super dirty. And on top of that, old banged up furniture, people talking in the hallway super loud at 1am. And with the rude staff! Ha never again. Go somewhere else. This hotel should be $50 a night. Definitely not worth $150 a night.

    Filthy bathroom floor

We normally stay at Fairfields because you can rely on them. Unfortunately, that has not been the case with the past few we've stayed at. All I want is a clean room. I did not receive that. The bathroom floor was disgusting. So dirty and sticky. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months! I wiped a small area and you can see the filth coming off. No tissues, only 2 small thin towels, light by bed not working, blow dryer hanging on the wall by a thread, and bottom sheet for bedding was ripped. I did not have breakfast but my husband said there was very little available. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband our 10 year old black lab and I checked in yesterday around 3 ! We were not greeted when we walked in he just asked for our name and credit card so I gave him my name and credit card ! No small talk just cut and dry ! We got up to our room #211 and I was just sickened , disgusted and so disappointed ! I took photos of all the items i immediately noticed ! We were 5 1/2 hours from home so my husband just said we keep quiet as we had no other options and were pretty much trapped here for two days as we were visiting family ! I was just so overwhelmed and sickened so around 2 hours later after I cooled down as I didn't want to be a crazy lady demanding a CLEAN ROOM my husband and I went down to the lobby to complain. A gentleman looked at my photos heard my complaints and a lady offered to clean our room ! I politely asked for clean sheets as I would do it as I just know the bed was not freshly made and I could literally smell someone else slept in that bed as the sheets were never changed for a new check in , my family ! The pictures Also show the hair in that bed didn't belong to my husband or I ! She insisted on sending house keeping up to clean - to be honest the house keeper made the bed with fresh sheets and vacuumed that was all ! Do I recommend this hotel ? Heck no ! I will never ever return here ! The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because you can't give 0 stars - we would of been better off sleeping in our car than to stay at this nasty hotel that charged my credit card immediately ! I Have no problem paying but when they put me in a room that's so gross , unclean and disgusting and even are willing to let me sleep in a bed that someone else slept in I promise I will never come to another fairfield inn and suites ever -------- ps. Instead of staying two nights we stayed one night and left !

    Dirt, mold, mildew in shower

I've stayed at a super 8 cleaner than this place. Service is bare minimum which I really don't care about, can't force anyone to do there job nicely but the rooms were disgusting. Marriotts are supposed to be known as "clean" but it looks like they never even wipe anything down. There was some weird white stain on the head board too ... They basically vacuum and take out trash is all no actual cleaning. Here's the pics

I actually picked this hotel last minute on my way to the Homewood Suites .. (I didn't properly read the reviews because i was blinded by the amazing price...I started reading the reviews and they were absolutely appalling!!!! Disgusting! Always always always read reviews lol. ) So i cancelled about 30 minutes before arrival and called to book here!! I was very happy with my choice to stay at Fairfield!! It was clean, staff super friendly! Walked right into my room with the room already cooled down. I have no complaints for my stay! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.. i did pay about $140 for my one night, but it was def worth the price for peace of mind knowing i won't have roaches crawling on me! My kids were happy too! Breakfast was delicious and a nice little spread, pool was quaint and perfect for the kids to let out some energy. The beds were very comfortable, bathroom was of decent size .. nice water pressure.

The staff was nice and polite, and the coffee was fine, but other than that I was unimpressed with this location. When I checked in, the room had no bath towels (only hand towels) and had a roll of clearly once soaking wet toilet paper in the bathroom (what was is soaked with?....) Towels were not delivered when requested or returned when housekeeping came. Avoid this location unless you're ok with picking up towels daily at the front desk and staying in a dirty hotel. (Photo 1: dirty elevator floor, Photo 2: previously soaked toilet paper roll).

I really appreciated how I felt like a very special guest yet never patronized by anyone working there. The room was clean and well decorated, the equipment in the work-out room was up to date and the elevator was quick (I stayed on the 11th floor so that's always important to someone a bit claustrophobic). For dinner both nights, I ordered in their bar and took the food to my room and it was very tasty. When I couldn't find a soup & salad combo on their menu one night, they still managed to order just that for me from their restaurant and not charge me a service fee. Even access to the garage, which is across the side alley, is simple via their covered walkway over the alley. I really enjoyed my stay and would do it again, if I found myself in Columbia again.

Paid for valet parking but I waited 30 minutes in above 90 degree temp. Eventually I found a parking spot and parked my vehicle myself. 2. Note*** I called the front desk and corporate. Both told me that valet parking is an independently contractor and that they couldn't help me. 2. 6/12/2026 coffee pot in room wasn't working and there was no hot water. 3. When I personally informed Management (face to face) that I would be checking out around 5:15-5:30 am, I was nicely told that my vehicle would be brought to the front of the building. Additionally, I called downstairs around 7-8 pm to remind the front desk that I needed the vehicle brought to the front of the building for the early checkout and was assured that this would be done. However, upon checking out, I once again had to retrieve my vehicle myself from where I previously parked.

Yelp Review by Captain 619…read more Spring has draped Columbia, South Carolina, in her finest gown--dogwoods blooming like lace, azaleas blushing at the sun, and a warmth that seeps into the soul. Amid this Southern reverie, I find myself on a six-day work mission, lodged at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott on 511 Lady Street. Let me tell you, friends, this isn't just another hotel--it's a sanctuary stitched with kindness. By day two, I realized the heartbeat of this place isn't just its crisp linens or spotless halls (though they shine brighter than most). No--it's the people. Each morning, descending the stairs feels like stepping into a hug. First, Shirley, with her radiant cheer, greets me like an old friend, her laughter a melody that chases the fog of sleep. Today, Debra stood beside her, her smile a quiet sunrise, her presence wrapping the breakfast nook in tranquility. Ah, the breakfast--far more than a complimentary perk. Here, the coffee isn't just poured; it's offered with a "How's your morning, sweetheart?" The pastries aren't just displayed; they're arranged with a tentative care, as if each item and yogurt cup were chosen for a loved one. I've stayed in countless hotels where the meal spread feels transactional, but here? It's nourishment--for the body and the spirit. Shirley remembers how I take my coffee. Debra and her calm voice a balm for this weary traveler's soul. It's the details, you see. The way the dining area hums with warmth, strangers swapping stories over scrambled eggs. The way the staff treats every guest--whether a road-worn business soul or a family passing through--like kin. Shirley and Debra don't just work here; they minister here, turning routine interactions into tiny acts of grace. Without them, this would've been another forgettable stay. But because of their excellence--their humanity--SpringHill Suites has etched itself into my memory. To the team: thank you for crafting not just a hotel, but a haven. To future guests: come for the comfort, stay for the hearts that make it shine. Captain 619 sails away with a full heart--and five stars, well earned.

First off - the front doors are not open due to construction so entrance is through the Ruth Chris steak house. Reception is located in the hallway on makeshift plastic desks. I requested headphones and person at the desk was trying to avoid getting up and handing me a pair so I asked three times before I got it. Room is clean but worn out. AC is old and tired and getting temperature right is an art form. Water pressure in the shower is great - but keeping water hot is hard. It was either too hot or too cold. There is no complementary bottled water or even one to buy in the room. No clocks or alarms, and certainly no microwave. I ventured in the morning to the front desk to buy coffee and they had none. They directed me to the Ruth Chris steak house for breakfast at $18 a person which comes with coffee. No individual coffee available. Of course I had to wait for restaurant to open. Pool is not operational. Elevators are slow. I was charged twice for valet and had to argue to get it taken off. Let's face it - this is not a hotel. It is a Ruth Chris steak house with attached rooms. Shame on you Hilton!!! I am going back to Marriott!

I genuinely have very kind sentiments to the entire team. They are so kind, caring and nice. One of the front desk team members had a pup that went through the same illness as our sweet pup. Our pup adored her and would look for her every time she was at the hotel. Says a lot when a pup goes out of their way to say hi to someone. The woman at the front desk would also ask how our pup was doing when I was staying there and the pup was in the hospital. She was a kind and friendly face every time. While they are other hotels closer to CVETS this is my preferred hotel not just because it is pet friendly but because I found the rooms and space to be clean. The woman who puts out and tidies up the breakfast is very kind a lot of folks just seem to walk by her but I always stopped to say hi and ask how she was doing. She is such a friendly smile and does a brilliant job. When I was there you would never know how many folks had come and gone from eating. She was on top of it and kept everything tidied. Come to think of it I do not recollect a time where anything was out of stock or needed to be replenished. She was there tending to it before any of the items emptied. They had gluten free items available off the top of my head some of Udi's muffins comes to mind. I am not sure what else. Rooms were always clean and tidy. Never did I come across anything less than ideal or not fresh in the room. LOVE their beds similar to mine at home and very comfortable to sleep on. I really liked that the side doors all needed key card access. They also all closed and secured. I was very happy and felt safe because of this feature. If you forget your card, you can always walk around and go through the front. But I liked that the sides were secured and you genuinely had to use your keycard to access. Used my mobile key most of the time and worked perfectly every time. All the air conditioners worked great! Even staying in the hottest part of summer was always perfectly comfortable I liked the layout. Found the rooms quite quiet. It was easy to have DoorDash delivered. I just had then drop it off at my room. However, you can have it left with the front desk as I saw that happen a few times in passing. They do charge for parking but that was made clear to me from the time of booking. Parking lot is clean and nicely lit. Which I appreciated especially when taking a pup out for the last tinkle of the night. There is a pet waste disposal bin and pet waste bags too if you are out of then on your leash. There is a little store in the front. My bills were all accurate and points credited in a timely manner to my Marriott Bonvoy account. (Which I have come to appreciate as that is not the same for every Marriott property.) TL;DR Loved the staff, nice hearty breakfast and clean. Would stay there again, recommended to CVETS for other out of town patients and would to anyone else in the area. Liked their beds and bedding!

Our room was surprisingly spacious and included two queen beds plus a fold-out sofa/futon, giving us plenty of room to spread out after a long day of exploring nearby Congaree. The beds were comfortable, but the real MVP of the room was the shower. The water pressure was absolutely marvelous - a small thing that frequent travelers understand can make a huge difference. Parking did come with a modest $5 fee, which wasn't ideal, but it certainly wasn't enough to detract from the experience.
