I called All Comfort Services today and they were able to send Monte A. on the same day. He's the man! All he had to do was be in the house and his aura was enough to bring that dead unit back to life! (Seriously!) He said he just checked the outside unit and it seemed to be blowing hot air indicating it was working. Honestly it wasn't working when I checked it the evening before - my aura must be old & tarnished. Like me. Good thing Monte's isn't. Just the trip charge - worth it. I've made a service appointment to get the oil changed and tires rotated on the furnaces and air conditioning unit and I'm certain whomever they send will bring the aura, too. We are comfortable once again.

It is managed by alumni, who volunteer their time. In the fall, we attempted to schedule a preventative service inspection before heat was needed throughout the building. That request was pushed off by their team until January, which eliminated the opportunity to proactively address any issues. When a service call was eventually scheduled, a technician arrived on the wrong day without any advance notice. We were not given the standard 24-hour notice, which created unnecessary disruption for our residents. Legally we are required to provide this for non-emergencies. Additionally, the technician went upstairs where residents were showering with no alumni escort or supervision. It made for an uncomfortable situation for our residents, which could have been avoided with the scheduled time or advance communication. More concerning was a later situation when our residents were left without heat. A service technician came out and called to explain what was wrong but did not provide a solution, plan, or timeline. When we called back around 2:45 p.m. to follow up, we learned that everyone had already left for the day. The receptionist had no information about parts, next steps, or who to contact, and could not reach anyone. The following day was a holiday, so there was still no communication or plan in place--and no heat. After another full day without communication, we contacted a different provider who was able to diagnose and fix the issue the same day, restoring heat for our residents. Once that vendor was lined up, we notified Dave Jones that their assistance was no longer needed. The only timely element they were able to do was send us a bill for diagnosing a problem but leaving us without follow up support or repair. Given the lack of communication, coordination, and urgency, we had a very bad experience, especially for a no-heat situation. We cannot recommend Dave Jones for boiler service and would encourage people to avoid this vendor and seek out others when similar service is necessary.

First of all, there is a "dispatch fee" of $115 just for someone to come out and look at the heater and provide an estimate. Their replacement estimate was almost double what another contractor charged. In addition there was a lot of upselling of extended warranties, service plans and other items. I did some research on local plumbing contractors and found that many have been bought out by private equity investment companies. Private equity companies like them because they provide an essential service, centralized dispatch and selling boosts margins, and high fragmentation in the industry allows for thousands of multiple add on acquisitions of these contractors.
