I'm writing this not as the person who got hair done but the person who looks at the person who got his hair done and who touches the hair and who found this shop on Yelp. In trying to get a man to try something new (not trim his own hair and not use the super cutter chains) I found this shop. Prebooking was easy. Mister went in with a hat on and came out with a fade looking super fly and sexy. So I give this place five stars for that! No complaints from either of us. He was satisfied with what he paid. Paid extra for Don to cut my hair because I'd heard great things on Reddit, but this was probably the worst value haircut I can ever remember getting. I gave him a clear explanation of what I wanted (not something complicated, just a pretty typical taper fade) and he evidently didn't process what I was asking for because it wasn't blended well at all and he lopped off my bangs at perpendicular angle, which looked almost like something a 12-year old cutting their own hair would do. Probably has to do with him being obviously overworked and sleep-deprived... He said he hasn't had a day off in 4 years. Something's wrong here. Cazoua was great! She listened very well to what I wanted and gave me a great haircut on short notice. I used to go to Regent Cuts but they raised their prices too much, and I'm glad I switched because this haircut is much better than what I received from multiple different barbers over at RC. I think this was my worst hair cut experience! Got a haircut and beard trim with a newer stylist. It was a pretty simple job but it was completely butchered. No fade at all, top was cut twice as much as requested. The beard was completely uneven to the point I have to trim it all down and let it grow out again for it to be even. Trust me, originally I didn't want to come here. After being a long time customer of College Barbers (now closed), it didn't seem right. The set up is pretty much the same, old wallpaper on the walls, barbers that know their stuff, no frills or fuss. The only difference is that you can call ahead at Stadium to reserve a spot. I finally was able to overcome my sense of loss and have been stopping in ever since I moved into the neighborhood and I am glad I did. As mentioned before, they take walk ins or you can call ahead. Everyone that I have met has been extremely friendly and welcoming. They stay "true to the game". What won't you find here? A barista pulling an espresso for you or a stylist with a man bun. And as someone who has had the same basic hairstyle for that last 30+ years, I am ok with that. read more

Don knows what he's doing and does the best fade + cut that I've found in Madison for only $20. He's so good that he uses an actual razor too. Finding him can be tricky, he's technically inside Nogginz Hair Shop with his own chair, not within a separate store front. read more

I think I might have found my go-to barber in Madison. Don is great. He works from inside Nogginz on State. I really appreciate his online booking setup. It makes things quick and efficient. I showed up on time for my haircut and he was soon ready to go! Most men's haircuts run $20. I was very happy with my haircut. I like getting a hard part and a bit of a fade and he did both of these skillfully. He had a great attention to detail, taking the time to clean up stray hairs and line things up well. Not the best barber... He gave a horrible back to school haircut, just too damn short. He buzzed it off without asking. He couldn't even cut my hair even, it was longer on one side. Got a fade by the owner, I was really disappointed, there was no fade, only a straight line. They didnt round it off on the top so it looked like a mushroom head more than anything. Stopped in for the $5 beard trim. I figured since it was a barber shop you'd get a line up with a straight razor but I was wrong. I asked to keep the length of my beard and just trim up the loose ends...end result I leave with an uneven beard. The right side of my beard got chopped way down. I didn't notice until shortly after I left the left side of my beard was significantly longer. I love my beard and I will most definitely not be returning. I got home and attempted to salvage what was left and ended up with a much shorter beard after being patient in growing it out. read more

I think his prices are reasonable for Madison compared to others that I checked out. Some were $40 and above for a cut and beard trim which I thought was ridiculous. Judging by the reviews i read on here, i thought this would be a safe bet and cheap, but I paid $17 for a crappy 15 minute haircut. Trisha cut my hair - i showed her pictures in addition to telling her what i wanted, but i literally have lines on the side of my head from a poor fade. I told her not to take anything off the top, but she still did. If it were cheaper i wouldn't be upset with the quality, but $17 deserves a better haircut. I showed the barber a picture of what I wanted and got the complete opposite. If you are trying to get anything other than a crew cut or Ivy League, then this is not the place to go. Even though the picture explicitly showed the hair on top being longer (~2 inches), he immediately cut it down way shorter and proceeded to give me a decent, if not uneven, crew cut. First: The place has changed hands in the past couple of years and there have been significant changes so IGNORE any reviews prior to about 2017. Even now there is no sign on the outside with the business name on it. TVs have been added, if you need aymore TV in your life which I do not. Totally new barbers. Second: The previous long time owner has sold the business and in his place are younger guys well endowed with attitude. Before I moved to Madison I would stop in when I could manage the time on a trip to "town". Friendly, good barbers, lots of customers. First time with the new guys after moving to Madison I was ignored when I walked in, even though one them was not busy. The place looked like a bad dream, messy, dirty, like they'd sneaked in while the real owner was out. So when I asked the cutter how much I owed after the cut and he sort of whispered "$15", I gave him a $5 pitty tip. Recently I was back, again one of them looked like he was just hanging around. After I sat down I got a sort of mini lecture on making appointments. I asked for a hair cut. Nothing fancy. He was done in under 10 minutes and when he was done he sprayed some sort of hair spray around. I could tell he did a crappy job and it was his way of making the uneven sections lie down and not be so obvious. He told me it would be $20. I smiled and said "See you next time" as I left. My real thought was, " I don't need to pay some guy who looks like an ex-con $20, for a crappy haircut AND has a bad attitude because i didn't make an appointment." If you don't take walk-ins say so on the door. Last time I looked there are lots of good barbers all over the city of Madison. If you have to go there remember they do not want walk-ins. My entire experience with Stadium Barbers was not good. The place has hair all over, and I do not even think they really make an attempt to sweep or vacuum very often. When it was my turn to get my hair cut, they did not even try to blow off the clippings off of my neck or scalp, so I ended up leaving with hair inside my shirt and all over my neck. Finally, the haircut itself was awful. The left side of my hair was about 1/2 of an inch longer than the right side, and the hair covering my forehead was very uneven - super short on the right side and about 1/2 inch longer on the left side. Overall, this was probably the worst haircut I have ever received. DO NOT go to Stadium Barbers if you are looking for a quality haircut. read more

My teenage sons have gone several times and only once have they had a cut that didn't need us to trim it up at home or tell them to go back and clean up the sides.
