I found Blue Chip Barber Club scrolling down barber shops in a Google Search to get my newly -- and for the first time -- lengthened beard trimmed. They were the first place I found that did it. I was completely and totally charmed by the place. And Zach has customer service down to an art. I would have never imagined that I could enjoy myself as much as I did just getting my beard trimmed. After reading the good reviews, I paid for a haircut and beard trim for my significant other as a gift. Casey did not listen to his requests at all and failed to even do the beard trim, yet still charged for it. At the end of his cut, when barbers typically ask how everything looks, Casey said he was done, said the price and walked up to the register. Very disappointing experience. Had my hair cut by Casey and did NOT have a good experience. Paid $90 for a haircut and beard TRIM but he did not listen to a single request. I asked for my beard to be faded short on the sides and he did not do anything except line up my cheek. Left a hard line where my beard stops and hair begins. Literally did not touch the length of my beard or clean it up. I asked him to take half the length off of the top of my hair and he barely took any off. Did not ask at the end if everything looked okay or show me the cut. Just took the apron off and said I was done. I don't know why this place is so recommended online when it is severely overpriced and rushed. read more

Okay... full disclosure... I have not personally been in the barber chair at BCBC because they do men only, however, I was in recently to buy a father's day gift for my husband and was extremely impressed by the whole vibe of the place. The concept is retro-modern classic barber shop service, with tons of personality and personal attention. Both were actively on display during my visit. The two Barbers were friendly& posed for my photos with panache. The staff at the desk were attentive, pleasant & professional. The music was cool and the decor perfect. The whole experience was entirely pleasant. So if you need a birthday or father's day gift for your man... get on over to The Blue Chip Barber Club! [note please : the location is inside a professional building across from a dentist/ 8025 Excelsior Drive. The signage on the street corner is visible, but don't let the lack of signage on the building deter you... be brave& walk on in the glass door and you will find them on the right. Also, BC Barber "Club" is their name, but there is no need to join anything. It is easy to make appointments online or by phone. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The haircuts have been consistently excellent and reasonably priced. I moved here from NJ six months ago where the options were either too expensive, no appointments with long wait times, or inconsistent haircuts. Excellent experience. Went in for a fairly drastic change from long hair to short. Archie talked me through what he was planning to do based on some pictures I showed him. Kept me updated throughout the process on the steps he was taking to achieve the right cut. End result is even better than I hoped for. I cannot say enough good things about this barbershop. Actually, I can say enough things but as I am typing this review I am currently dog sitting a half Pug half Maltese Terrier with the energy of a split atom so I may not go quite into every detail. The first time I showed up at Blue Chip I did not know what to expect. I had been patiently waiting for my last bad haircut to sprout into something that did not resemble a failed Stanford Chi-Pet experiment. My mustache that day was bordering on 70's disco star minus the leisure suite. Even my beard itself was in tatters. It had somehow entered into a realm where upon meeting me one would guess I was either a logger who chose to shave with his work tools or someone who just come out of a medically induced coma. To sum it up my head and all its hairy dynamics were in such a bad place that even the villain from Sleepy Hollow would have had a better chance of taking a good selfie. Just like a good mechanic when one finds a good barber one is hesitant to let them go. What I found when I walked through the doors of Blue Chip Barber Club was exactly what I was looking for and that was great service, great people and most importantly a great rock and roll type ambience. I learned of this shop first hand through a friend at work. Yes, folks word of mouth still reins high in the land of customer relations. I have always been selective when it comes to choosing a barber. I believe it stems from how my hair and beard tend to grow out of my skull which is usually the first thing people see when they meet me. In the past I have been to barbers who didn't listen to me and chose to engage in workplace gossip with their coworkers and treated my experience with as much enthusiasm as one would do while mulching a garden while treating me like a Yard Gnome with a credit card. I have been to beauticians who in a moment of bravo took it upon themselves to try new techniques they learned on YouTube the night before which in turn left me exiting the building looking like a lab rat out on a day pass. And sadly, yes, I have made mistakes in my life and entered chain shops with their automatic doorbells and shelves of overpriced shampoos and exited after seeing the workers cutting hair with the same swiftness Freddy Krueger uses when taking out dream walkers. I have never had any experiences like this at Blue Chip Barber Club and this is why I choose to return time after time. The location is a tad bit hard to find in the beginning (it's located in a brick office building) but once you find it you will thank yourself for the GPS hide and seek game you may have just unintentionally partook in and understand why it was worth it. Inside you will be greeted by the staff who seem to know every client on a first name basis. Think of the show Cheers except Sam and Norm are not spinning yarns about the Red Sox. You will be given your choice of water or coffee. I highly recommend the coffee because I am a fan of caffeine: as if you haven't guessed from this writing. Finally, you will be asked exactly what type of haircut you are looking for, asked to take a seat and when the time arrives be summoned to the chair of change for the transformation to begin. If you are looking for an average haircut by all means feel free to head to the local mall and hope for the best. Personally, I enjoy having my hair cut in a location where people are not making impulse purchases at kiosks, mall security isn't running down wayward teenagers and the smells of the local food court aren't attacking my olfactory senses, but hey that's me. If this is what you want it is up to you and as we live in a democracy please don't let me take your freedom of choice away from you. With that said if you are searching for a great cut where the employees seem to connect on a personal level with each and every customer I would recommend Blue Chip. If you are searching for a barber who will gauge every use of the scissors before striking I would recommend Blue Chip. Finally, if you are looking for a business where the staff is encouraged to take their time to line up your beard, mustache and sideburns with the precision of a skilled sculptor, they engage you and treat you as a human being and not a black mark in the company earnings ledger and most importantly they live by the motto of never letting a customer leave unhappy nor unsatisfied then by all means I must say Blue Chip Barber Club is a must. Like I said in the beginning I couldn't say enough good things about Blue Chip but at least I tried. Now if you will excuse me I have a dog to chase down. read more
