grew my hair out for three months and it got cut way to short then what i wanted it to be and i even specified how i wanted it

i came in and the vibe was nice but my haircut wasnt, when i sat down in the chair i asked to cut a little off the top and to cut the sides a little and to cut the back not to high since i want to bulk that part and get it longer. i asked top only cut the back a little and theh cut it all and left me with a number 2 i did not like this haircut and i paid 20$ for a haircut i did not want they also did not cut the top off at all i even asked to cut the top and they said ok. they proceed to not even touch it. read more

Fade Inn is probably the best true barber shop I've been to. All the guys are really nice. It may be a little intimidating when you first walk in on a busy Saturday but if someone doesn't approach you for a haircut just say hi to the first person and they'll let you know who's up next. I've been coming to Alex now for over a year and he's great! There's a wide array of services from fades to beards. It's always a lively atmosphere! Prices are right on point too. $10 for a fade cut! As the name states, its an Inn where one can find a solid fade. How well or prepared the barber is depends on or in whose chair you decide to sit because not every one of these barbers are trained exactly the same. I've had great, good and the worry-some "I didn't like it" cuts. To help you get the cut you desire how about you read the following and see where you fall into. You should stop by if: You have long hair and have decided to go short. You have any length of hair and want to go real short, (Google Black men haircuts) You have short hair and want to keep it detailed and short. You are bald or balding and need to keep that shit short. (I do and it's maintained.) **If you fall into the category of having any kind of hair length that you want to maintain and grow into something you've seen on TV, popular media etc You need to go to a damn salon, pay the higher end expense and deal with it. You can't pay someone ten dollars and expect luxury. It's important to remember, it's called Fade Inn and barber shops that specialize in faded cuts are doing this 24/7. If a fade is what you need then you need to stop on by. If you've seen a cut in public of a cut you'd like have done to you, snap a photo, Google it and grab a screen shot and bring that in. If they can manage it, someone here will be able to do it. There are some specialized barbers here with coordination and ability to perform that intricate cut you are looking for. Some can do accents, names, special characters or designs which are cut with a blade into your faded cut. Gang symbols and or other visuals which are of a foul manner will not be completed. As with any barber shop there are good barbers, decent barbers and those that should be working the $5 dollar shops. Find the chair you like and remember the barbers name for the next time. Walking in as a newbie can be a hard decision with many chairs open, it's hard to determine who you want working on your do. The owner Rambo is full of himself and thinks he can treat customers with no respect. He must have confused me for a new customer even though I've been coming to the fade inn for over 20 years. He had the audacity to laugh at me and start speaking in another language to his other barbers about me. He probably doesn't even know I was getting a haircut the night someone got shot and killed in there a long time ago. I've showed a lot of loyalty to this spot but the amount of disrespect I felt directly from Rambo was inexcusable. Place is declining fast, all the good barbers have their own clients already. Rambo just tries to push others off to the other barbers who are not that good. There is a good 4 barbers in the whole shop but Rambo is a condescending disrespectful human being who has no idea who he is talking to read more

Been going here off and on for 15 years. It's not exactly convenient for me to get to but well worth it when I'm looking for a close tight razor fade. I don't know of a more consistently good cut anywhere I've ever been. The fact that their prices are extremely reasonably (generally half of what the suburban fade joints charge) only sweetens the deal but I'd probably still go if they doubled their prices. My go to barbers' are Moe AKA "Rambo", and Sam but just about everyone there has cut my hair over the years. They'll take the time to make sure your fade is right. They do eyebrows too both with razor and thread at your preference. If you want a shampoo you'll have to ask it's certainly not something they usually do but anytime I've ever asked they are happy to oblige. If you're in the area or willing to travel a bit for a rockstar fade you WON'T go wrong here. Pro tip: mornings are easiest for parking on Irving. read more

I am a hairstylist and in the past ive cut my son's hair. I have also taken him to other hairstylists. Now that he is 11, ive decided to take him to a barbershop because im not the best at fades. Ive always driven by The Fade Inn and was curious. I took him there and just went with whoever was available. I dont remember his name but i loved the haircut he gave him. The fade was so nice, the blend was impressive. They used a straight razor to make his hairline look sharp. You cant go wrong with their prices. I woke up on Wednesday morning, looked in the mirror and Nick Nolte's mug shot was looking back at me. Google it... scary. So I had to find a close place that could make quick work of my fugly mop. So I checked out yelp and like any smart consumer, I chose this place based on its name. I called ahead to make sure they had room for me and my grotesque mane and they did. With disgust in his eyes, the poor barber led me to his chair and asked me what I wanted. I said something to the effect of "This is the Fade Inn, right? Fade me up!" He didn't laugh. Note to self: don't tell any more "When in Rome" jokes. The clippers were a blur as a dead squirrel-shaped pile slowly materialized on the floor. But he didn't stop there, no sir. He then look command of my beard like a pirate seizing a boat full of gold--short, pubey locks of reddish-gold. When the deed was done, I was 5 lbs. lighter, better looking, faster, stronger and finally a contribution to society. The price: $10. The tip: $5. My advice: get faded! read more

The best fade my husband has ever had. The guys doing it was very non-conversational. To the point that, when my husband asked questions, like "how long have you worked here?" etc, the barber turned off the shaver in a huff and just about told him to shut up. That said- he did a great job, his focus was much appreciated. My hubby's hair isn't the easiest to cut but this guy worked as if he was sculpting an ice sculpture. The artistry! Oh my. The environment was intimidating to me but my hubby seemed fine. I previously took him to an all men's fancy salon (45 haircut) and I found it lovely and he was intimidated. Look at all this street parking! And a McDonald's just down the street for me to enjoy a McMuffin after my new clean look. I can dig it." Saturday, 9:20 AM: "How would you like your hair cut?" "Just something clean and professional looking. I typically go a 1/2 or 1 on the sides, and scissors for the top so it's just short enough to manage." Saturday, 9:30 AM: *Barber holds up mirror* "How's that look for you?" "Nice. Thanks for the cut!" "That'll be ten dollars." *exits the store with a fresh cut, and ready to enjoy a delicious McMuffin. So let's break this down: Pros: Plenty of street parking Quick efficient cut (for guys at least) Had absolutely no wait at 9:20 AM, and there were at least four other barbers lounging around waiting for customers. Cheap haircut! ($10 bucks for guys? That's definitely affordable.) Cons (at least for me): Barber spoke with all the other barbers, (not sure what language) but really didn't try to strike up conversation with me once he knew how to cut my hair. Cut the sides of my hair much shorter than I had expected... (think almost a buzz cut), however I've gotten some compliments on it so perhaps he has a pretty good eye for style? Would I ultimately go back? Absolutely. For the price, speed, and quality, the the combination was well worth it. I don't need the barber/stylist to fawn over me... I just need a good hair cut when I'm finished in the end. Granted I do enjoy the nice scalp wash/massage that Hair Cuttery offers, these guys are just cheap, good cuts, and quick. This barber shop suits me pretty well. Fast, cheap and in style. I only paid ten dollars for my fade/line-up, was seated in a chair immediately upon entry, and was out of there in about fifteen minutes. Staying on the south side, and working in the west 'burbs makes coming here a bit of a hassle. And with decent places much closer, I may not make the journey here too often. But that is the only reason. Otherwise, nothing else would stop me from coming here for every haircut. read more

They also use the straight razor to make your line up super clean. I went to Saeed, and was not disappointed. There is usually parking on the street, right in front of the shop. So Im currently sitting here waiting for my time and I just decided to Yelp about this. I just recently moved to the subarbs but i been coming here for about 3 years now. 9 out of 10 times I get my favorite Barber, Joe. He knows exactly how I like my hair cut, there is never a need to explain to him. Dispite me living 45 mins away, I still come every two weeks for a cut. And despite im probably gonna be late for work, It doesn't matter because Im always treated good here and the price makes it worth it. For $10 i leave each time feeling super confident. I appreciate a nice establishment that can execute a fade haircut. This isn't like going to Sport Clips where they give you an uneven haircut with a bad fade. The haircut is exactly what I asked for. The guy who cut my hair asked me a few questions beforehand to make sure he knew what I wanted and he continued asking me questions throughout the cut. I went on a Saturday and was expecting to have to wait a while but I was seated instantly. Most places like this only have 4 barbers max but this place must have at least 10 so there was no wait which was nice. I was probably only there for about 20 minutes which is unheard of when you go to these types of places where the wait can up to an hour long. The staff/barbers were all very friendly. This place is great for a solid haircut/beard trim. I've been there twice now and both times Abdul cut my hair. He might not be the best barber in the shop, given that he never seems to have a line and always cuts children and white people's hair. Honestly he's good though. I get a blowout and a goatee lineup and it always looks good. He's quick too. I'd recommend him if your new to shorter haircuts and legit barber shops. If your really is to your haircut, there's plenty of guys with people waiting specifically for them so give one a try. As a white guy from the burbs, I grew up going to places like super cuts or great clips. Making the transition to a real barbershop can be intimidating, but this place was really comfortable. No frills, nobody trying to sell you hair products, just guys getting cut. Also the price is great. For the cut and shave it's $15. Can't beat it. Cash only. I guess its all in the name...If you want a fade and have short hair then this is definitely the place to go. If you have longer hair or want a different sort of haircut I'd steer clear. I wanted a jimmy darmody sort of haircut from Boardwalk Empire. Even brought in a few pictures. I asked for a simple fade, i left with a crew cut cuz of all the mistakes he had to correct left me with little hair to be able to mask his mistakes. This place used to be a 5 star for me and my go-to barber shop to go. but the last time I went proved other wise. Customer service is just horrible. I asked for a medium fade with a number 1 on the sides and to trim the top a bit. (I'm African so I have curly hair). Instead he cut the sides bald (number 0) and gave me a high fade giving me an Afro Mohawk look. So i suggested that maybe he trim the top a little bit more making the Afro Mohawk less noticeable. As this is happening he keeps on talking behind my back in his language making fun of me and complaining about cutting my hair. (Which is his job) ...So finally my hope ran out so I asked him to just cut my top hair a number 2 and that I would just pay him extra for it just to get it over with and leave that intimidating place. I came in with long defined curls and I came out with an almost short plain buzz. Most likely never going here again. On a final note, there are some really talented barbers that do a fine job. But to me customer service is important and if they can't keep up with that then they don't deserve my business. read more

First visit and I was unlucky to get a guy that had no customer (should of know something was wrong with so many ppl waiting to get a cut and half the barbers with nothing to do). Today I took my son in for a combover with a line. I was a bit hesitant about the place. The place is strictly cash only but there is an atm conveniently located within 100 ft of the place. I sat down in the back by the TV and was approached by a short dud that kind of looked like a guy out of an 80's movie. I was a bit hesitant as he asked me if it was ok to cut my kids hair. My son stepped into the chair and he began to ask me what type of haircut would I like which was more or less a combover with a line on the top of the head. Most places charge a fade and line comb over about $20 Custom. The gentleman's name was Freddie and let me tell you the guys been around and he knows his sh**. I must say he started with a clipper but moved into the scissors which that's were you can tell the difference between a barber and a Stylist he was both. Scissors give the hair a unique real Custom work. Most barbers use combs with machines to trim NAh bro this is the real way to get a cut. My son was finishing up with his haircut and I asked Freddie to cut me up as well. I must say hands down hes one of the best Stylists/Barbers I have had in over 5 years. And you know what 2 haircuts $20 for True Custom work tip =extra. But worth the mans creativity hopefully this place can keep this mans talent Ill be coming back for more. read more
