    I visited Hand and Stone Massage about a week ago; my therapist was Lucy…read more I suffer from chronic muscle spasms throughout my body - especially in my calf muscles - and, was in desperate need of a deep tissue hot stone massage to relieve pain, increase circulation, and reduce the potential for the spasms there. On my intake form, I requested firm pressure and opted for the $10 aromatherapy add-on. At the outset of my session, I began to explain to Lucy my needs, but she quickly interrupted and began telling me of her problems with muscle spasms. I know she was simply trying to empathize with me, but it was a little too much... She went as far as to recommend that I take quinine. And, maybe that is a possible solution but I don't think a massage therapist should offer such advice (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinine). Anyway, I digress. Lucy was friendly enough, but she totally missed the mark for my massage needs. I wanted and needed deep, firm pressure applied with the hot stones (and, I know this is possible, because when I get a pedicure, the attendant does exactly that when she massages my calf muscles using hot stones). What I received was medium to light pressure with the stones and medium to firm pressure with Lucy's fingers and, Lucy basically telling me that I should have ordered a regular deep tissue massage without the stones, because she could not apply deep pressure with the stones. I was most frustrated at that and even more when Lucy said the massage was done and I had received no aromatherapy. Other than that, I prefer to lay quietly and relax while the massage therapist works. I personally do not like to converse or listen to anything other than soothing music. I seem to recall the music that was playing was a radio station or regular music and not soothing sounds or the like. I could not have been happier to leave. On leaving, I was almost charged for the aromatherapy but thankfully the hostess recognized the error. I was, however, overcharged because I ordered "hot stone" and not the special "some kind of something special" salted stones. I was charged for the latter. I was certainly not happy about that, but again, I was ready to go. I am still searching for someone... ANYONE, who can provide a firm pressure, deep tissue, hot stone massage on my calf muscles and other major muscle groups. Understanding that everyone is different and everyone can have a bad day, I won't totally write off Hand and Stone Massage, but I would need to be incentivized for sure! Live well. Be well. Cheers!

    I actually have had a decent experience here. I have been twice. I have tried two therapists so…read morefar. The first was only for lymphatic drainage and I honestly felt it was too deep for a true lymphatic massage. The second massage was better in my opinion. It was a mix of lymphatic drainage and a light to medium massage. I typically like a firm massage but because I am trying to get my lymph to move that has been more important. I have booked again with the second therapist. The front desk has been extremely helpful with transferring my account from a different location which was closing and answering detailed questions about the process and about the therapists and their skill sets. I had only been a member for a few months before the previous location announced they were closing. When I signed up, I was given three "free massage" cards, two of which I gave to a loved one to use as long as I was a member and one I kept. Unfortunately, the Murphy location refused to honor them stating it was that franchise owner's perk and not a ME perk. I guess I cannot fault them but it is extremely dissappointing and embarrasing to have to tell the recipient of the gift. We will see as time goes on if I made the right choice to transfer to this location. So far, it has been decent.

Called this morning to reschedule my appointment, as the flu has been going around work and I felt I was doing my due diligence in keeping their staff safe, and was told I would still be charged 100% of the fee today. To RESCHEDULE, not cancel. The staff member on the phone was aware of why I felt it best to reschedule, but stated it was company policy. So much for trying to do right and not expose people to illness I guess.
