I got the same treatment when I returned a few days later for more plates and table covering. On my second trip, a staffer was having problems carrying a balloon bouquet out to deliver it. I offered to hold the door for him. Even though he was obviously having a bad day, he thanked me and we had a good laugh over the challenges of balloon wrangling. I will definitely be returning next time I need part supplies.

Like many others, I did not have a good experience on a recent trip to this Party City location. I…read morewanted to go get a balloon for a birthday, and there were a couple of folks in front of me in line. There was one cashier, there was one person filling balloons, and a manager of some kind who didn't seem to be much help to either one of them. This person was clearly overwhelmed by the fact that several folks wanted balloons filled at 4p on a Friday night. The cashier was having some issue with the first person's transaction, but the manager was no help. I waited in line almost 20 minutes before someone behind me in line asked the manager "How long would it take to get my balloons filled once I pay?" The manager's reaction was super rude and she said to no one in particular "We aren't filling more balloons tonight." The person asked if they could buy them and pick them up in the morning and the manager just walked away. I was next in line by this point, so I waited. When it was my turn, I asked the cashier if I could pick up my balloons in the morning, and he said he didn't know. So I left my items with him, and left. I went just down the road to Hy-Vee where the selection wasn't as good, but the service was way better. I would recommend going elsewhere.

Kansas City seems to be wedding mecca. I'm not sure why, other than we have more unusual and cool…read morevenues than you can shake something borrowed or blue at. It's also an extremely affordable city and is right in the middle of the country. While there are some truly fabulous and reasonable venues out there (River Market Event Place, Foundation, Berg Event Space, and the former Arts Incubator), the rental companies seem to charge a small fortune and can get away with it *and* give you 'tude when you question something ridiculous like a bar costing 75 dollars when the "bar" is merely one small table put on top of another with an ugly linen skirt around it. What adds insult to injury is that you're spending a lot of money on the least fun or remarkable aspects of your occasion. Necessary and no fun. I've received quotes from several rental companies in town and AA Promotions is the clear winner as far as quality and price. I mean, by a landslide. The tables are so beautiful that you barely need the linens, but of course you do need the linens for fancy occasions and guess what? They are not close to 20 bucks a pop here like they are at other unnamed rental companies. 20 bucks to rent a linen. I just don't get it. AA charges less than 10 dollars. Sam, the owner, is gracious, prompt, dependable and... this is the best part: he'll arrange the tables for you (that's right... he is the delivery person, so you know you're getting top notch care and attention). *And* when picking post event, he doesn't make you break down all the tables (the last thing you feel like doing after an event). I should mention that delivery fees are also incredibly fair. Again, this is not common in Kansas City. I once used a company that had left the thousand dollars worth of tables, coat racks, bars and linens that I had rented at a crazy high price in a graceless heap in the corner of the venue. I spent an hour figuring out what was what and which table clothes went with which tables. They also charged me for not breaking down and leaving everything for them in a (similarly untidy) heap. I won't mention names, but these are all things you should question when choosing a rental company. I strongly recommend AA. I never thought I'd feel so strongly about this type of business before, but after planning several large scale events, now I know!

You will not find another rental company who is better to work with. Many of the awesome business, price, and rental aspects were covered in Joi B's review, and were accurate for me as well so I won't be repetitive. But yeah, wonderful is a good word for it. What really guarantees AA Promotions and its owner, Sam, all of my future table-and-chair-rental business was a situation after my wedding. As several co-workers and I were setting up an event, we realized at 7:00pm on a Friday night (the event starting at 7am the next morning) we didn't have enough chairs. When I called AA on the slim chance they would be able to help, Sam picked up the phone by the third ring. Unfortunately he was already booked for delivery, but he gave us several leads for other rental places and even offered to let us come pick up chairs if we were able, since he had the inventory but not the scheduling capacity. I could tell he was genuinely concerned about my situation, and that alone made me feel better. It all worked out, and we weren't able to use AA Promotions, but it was nice to have an ally who knew the business. A tip to learn from me: we wound up over-ordering by about 5 tables and 60 chairs. It didn't occur to me to call Sam before the event, but he let me know for next time that if the numbers change to simply call him and he'd adjust the order so we didn't pay for things we didn't need. That may be industry standard - I don't rent tables and chairs that often - but it was a nice gesture and he was super sad that he had to charge me. He was very sweet. TL;DR - Small shop means you get exceptional, personal service at roughly 2/3rds the cost of other rental companies.

I'm fairly sure I'll need to raise a dinosaur in order to top her gift. So ballooning ain't new, but it's extremely safe, tremendously peaceful, and a rather easy-paced thrill ride. Ballooning has been around for nearly 250 years and has evolved rapidly, and 'hot air ballooning' is now both competitive & peaceful recreation. But history aside, just know that Old World Balloonery is spectacular and Jason & crew deliver a phenomenal experience start to finish. We had to be up early, like early early. Once we were at the launch site, Jason & crew began the preflight process of filling the balloon, going through safety training, and getting us launched. That process was maybe 30 minutes and fascinating to watch, learning the nuances of the balloon, and helped build our anticipation. Once aloft, the majesty of the morning lay before us. The sun was rising, cows mooed, roosters beckoned, and the land began to look like a map laid out with green space aplenty. We drifted mostly northeast, reaching a top altitude of about 1250', a top 'speed' of 22 mph, and floated for about an hour. We waved to many folk out on morning walks or even enjoying coffee on their decks. Our landing was gentle and controlled, and the crew quickly packed the balloon and basket for the trip back. Oh, and Jason cracked a bottle of sparkling wine and toasted our maiden voyage. So I don't know the price, but I can tell you all about the VALUE. We never felt pressured, intimidated by the experience, or rushed. It was simply top shelf across the board and an experience that we will not forget. I highly encourage you to check into it, especially in great weather. It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a 'bucket list' item.
